Humans (and animals) equate shapes with important things. We see faces in things that aren't. Some animals are afraid of certain shapes. In Art (had to take humanities) certain shapes like a triangle pointing down are dangerous/scary while pointing up are safe. This is just another one of those. I personally don't see faces in it because I know there aren't faces there so my brain doesn't look for them.
I forget if its worms or something but if they see shapes like l they freak out and hide, but when they see shapes like _ they think its prey regardless if it moves etc. I can't remember what it was though...
Rofl, thanks, captain obvious.
We get that there aren't
actually faces in the minimaps, but the xel'naga watch towers are designated with literal eyes, and mineral patches can be interpreted as mouths. They're cute.
It's not something people are accidentally doing. We're intentionally imagining them as faces for fun.
ps: I don't see how that's a panda face. It looks like the mineral patches north of the eyes are the eye brows, the ones south are like bags under the eyes, and that canyon further south is the mouth.
I don't see a nose or anything.
