Yes. I think WCS 2012 was better than WCS 2013.

Really? Because as i see it EU and NA players are gonna get far more time on air compared to last year.

I actually agree with the WCS system. The issues i see are MLG "getting it" and WCS America becoming for koreans the Miami of SC2. Oh, and the chinese scene. But for example i am really enjoying the WCS EU (except hasu, c'mon man, attack sometime).

i now know the meaning of the word "agile".
i'll start using that word more often... and i'll probably be able to add $10/hour to my rate.

I'm sad that TB didn't hold him to explaining why Blizzard says it's committed to region growth but at the same time allows Koreans to come in and completely rape and pillage the WCS NA scene. Korean pillaging =/= NA scene growth

At least the Blizzard rep is holding strong and coming up with legit-enough answers. If it was just a repeat of the MLG-non-apology I'd have finally committed and switched to DOTA 2.

Holy fucking shit, the Koreans are getting screwed over just as bad. Why the hell is no one speaking up for them? Acting like they are rolling in stolen cash when the vast majority of them are simply slaving away in team houses all day for nothing.

So NA doesn't deserve a scene? We can't grow a scene with teamhouses and economic foundation ourselves if we keep sacrificing our scene to our Koreans overlords.

I swear to god, is there anyone who actually reads what I'm saying rather than jumping to wild fucking conclusions and putting words in my mouth?

1) Calm the fuck down dude.

2) I'm just going to walk you through what you said to me, even though I definitely didn't post a word in your general direction.

2a) I said that NA needs a way to grow its player base. Allowing Koreans to come in and pillage our tourney is not how you do so (TB made the point literally 5 minutes after I posted).

2b) You said, and I quote, "Holy fucking shit, the Koreans are getting screwed over just as bad....Acting like they are rolling in stolen cash..." That implies that you think you deserve to take the money from the NA scene, most specifically WCS NA, because they're awesome and they're SC2 gods and they deserve all of our money.

2c) I respond with "So how are we to make any money?"

2d) You respond with "I never said that!"

Only, you did. I say that they shouldn't be allowed in the WCS NA tourney, and you say they should be because they're awesome and work harder than we do.

And this is what I mean by jumping to wild conclusions and putting words in my mouth. No I never said they should be allowed in WCS NA. No I never said they deserve all of the money. No I never said the NA scene should lose money.

WCS NA can be region locked with a respectable prize pool. Fine. However with the new system Korea now has less tournaments and less money going around than it did last year. Coupled with the flood of Kespa players raising the bar of competition even higher. Korea is getting screwed here but all of the focus is on NA and the proposed solutions would screw Korea over even more.

However, he's right in that Blizzard is not generally considered "agile". But they're improving in that sense, if it only took 10 minutes from MLG contact to PhysicsLee getting banned.

Of course, MLG might have just been shown to be less than agile in dealing with things...

i really think that they will do a good job (blizzard). they know they messed some stuff up, they know the problems and when they are willing to come on a show like this they will change it. not everything but overall it will become a good event. much respect to jp/wheat/tb for asking real questions and cloaken for giving the best answers he could.

you and i both know the only reason that guy got banned so fast is because of the shitstorm he caused by playing in WCS NA. there is tons of hackers on bnet and they takes weeks and months for blizzard to even do anything about.

Agile is a word in English too. Though it comes directly from french, it is transparent. Synonyms are nimble and lithe.

Kevin did a good job. Even taking care of mlg saying that it was all their fault and the partners themselves are doing great work. I don't know i would have thought that i would have something to complain about or that his answeres would contradict, but it wasn't the case. let's give them a chance and see how the first premier league seasons on na and eu finish.
good episode overall tb and dj wheat did their best. thank you JP.

It's because the NA scene was already bleeding and dying before this, and this "attempt" to save it on behalf of Blizzard was really just a way to attract even more Koreans. You're angry that Korea is fucked hard by WCS KR, thats cool. Everyone acknowledges that. But right now people want to save the NA scene from dying, which it undoubtedly will after no Americans make the Ro16, and best case scenario are relegated to the Challenger league if any league at all.

I don't think you'll find a single person who thinks Korea didn't get fucked. But NA has been dying for years, and with stuff such as the Open Bracket being taken away from MLG, IPL dead, and NASL being all but shut out of tourneys NA doesn't have much hope. At least KR still has GSL, Proleague, and GSTL. The Americas only have WCS NA now, and that's going to quickly become WCS East Korea.

Hmm, I expected more specific questions about the American qualifier. Just a quick summary from JP that got dodged. "There's nothing more we can do for the Chinese at this point". Why not?

i feel like not a lot of news came out of this conversation. Totalbiscuit had some great questions but sadly he was rambling for several minutes about it until nobody knew anymore what his beginning questions were. Kevin Johnson basically just answered one or two of them.
Later TB came back to the most important question about the WCS NA. We didn't get a concrete answer to that. I am not sure if blizzard wasn't expecting so many koreans to play on NA or if they expected that they would move there. I would have been really interested what their thought process was. TB hit the core of it. A couple best of threes doesn't level up the NA scene. Koreans just flying in for the "playoffs" doesn't help anyone.

Anyone that expected "better answers" from a community manager than what Cloaken gave is delusional. For that you need someone in charge like Mike Morhaime and he will never be on SotG.

Yes, I'm aware, I'm a native English speaker. This is how I know that it has several different meanings, depending on the context and environment used.

Yes, but they took action quickly once they were pointed in the right direction - you can't expect omniscient action by Blizz helpdesk. What I am concerned more about is why did MLG take so damn long to bring it to their attention and LET HIM KEEP PLAYING in the meantime?

Well traditionally this is because their products are very solid from the get go. He wouldn't have to keep mentioning being agile if they hadn't got so much stuff wrong in the first place. A lot of what he was saying for the future would have been avoided if they had given themselves time to react to community concerns, for example they might have realised a master league cut off was a good idea before the premier qualifiers.
