Good. This is the kind of response I'd hope you'd give.

Idra and Incontrol, however, have more explaining to do.

I don't think idra has to explain shit. He didn't want to talk to avilo and made it clear.

Tough shit. He acted like a 9 year old who doesn't want to wake up for school.

And? Idra now has to apologize to you and everyone for it? What a joke.

Oh no, he doesn't have to. Perhaps it wasn't obvious that what I meant was that if Idra wants to be respected by decent, upstanding people, he should apologize. Of course, he can always do what he usually does and just say "fuck everyone I'm Idra." I'm sure he'll keep his regular demographic of people who idolize this so-called badassery.

"Use your brain" lol.

I've seen you being salty about terran and a lot of things in this thread, so yea, i might have used the wrong words sorry.

Well I have to say that I'm not easily shocked, and I found this shocking. I don't really know Avilo tho, but that was just...really low.

JP was in panic mode at that point.

kind of silly you MrCon expecting him to follow some sort of trainwreck protocol as if you in the same situation would do the same thing (and don't tell me you would that's just a dick answer)

he stopped the situation getting even worse and picked the lesser of 2 evils

Wheat would have handled that like that ?

What's your point?
that's a silly comparison to make

The comparison between 2 show hosts is silly to make ? Just reread your post and mine, you'll see why I made the comparison.

And Wheat hung up on come callers who were just saying random shit or insults, not on someone he invited to debate ? It seems you people are so used to sotg getting shit for the most trivial things made you also used to defend those things before you reflect on them.

Is this thread in some kind of collective hysteria, no one is making sense.

It's a silly comparison because Wheat has many more years in the host role than JP the fact that you make the point that Wheat would know correct trainwreck protocol and would execute it correctly is such a noshit point to make.

Not that Wheat of all people would have seen the situation as you did and would have responded with your response.
Ha ok, JP being a host and public figure for only 2 years makes him inexperienced.
I should have used my brain, it was obvious.

You can even tell it crossed JPs mind until Geoff hopped in and said "This is your only chance, don't blow it"

After IdrA attempting to be tame, Avilo totally blows it by interrupting him in the middle of talking and screaming "I agree with you!! I AGREE WITH YOU!!!!" Completely twisting IdrAs point around to favor his argument. This would anger anyone having a discussion with some random person, let alone someone you explicitly dislike. At that point, JP had to hang up on him or risk a further blow up from IdrA.

are we watching the same show? Idra has been going full force in ad-hominem attacks and interrupting avilo nonstop before it even escalated to that point

Avilo selectivly took parts of Idra's argument and then made it seem as if Idra was agreeing with Avilo which was not correct,

how do you stop someone doing that and then not paying attention to you telling them that you're not fucking agreeing with them

This. I love how people just missed the part where Avilo didn't listen to Idra at all and took out random unrelated parts of his argument and says that he "agrees with him." Idra was actually calmer and more reasonable than i expected until Avilo started to do that. I feel like the people in this thread weren't actually listening to illogical things that Avilo was saying.

Avilo didn't made a lot of sense. It takes some composure to stay there while being insulted publicly tho and gang'ed by several people..
Also, Idra making the most random points like "terran just need to play better" or "terran macro can match zerg's macro" was frustrating and didn't help at all.
The winner is still always the one who don't resort to insults. I'm still posting in this because I just can't understand people who try to defend Idra/Inc/JP's behavior. You really have to lack empathy to do that (not talking about you).
But having Avilo, who was balance winning when terran had 75% winrate, as a terran representative wasn't very smart anyway ><

K I will stop this back and forth then if you don't want to see a difference between the 2 years of JP and the fuckknows how many years of your comparison DJWheat.

Yes, i'm not trying to defend the SotG hosts in any way. But i feel Avilo's arguments were really flawed and contributed a great deal to why everything went so down hill after that. In general, it was just a bad decision to bring him on, the qxc idra discussion was much more insightful and it should have been left at that.

Good. This is the kind of response I'd hope you'd give.

Idra and Incontrol, however, have more explaining to do.

Will you quit being so damn pretentious? They don't have to explain themselves to you because you emailed their team.

There a VOD yet?

I feel like I missed something, but when I watch it I have a feeling cutting Avilo off will seem like the perfectly reasonable thing to have done.

They didn't gang up on Avilo. The only people that were talking were Idra and Avilo. Geoff didn't say anything other than to let Greg talk. QXC attempted to explain Avilo's points better. No one ganged up on him. Things went to shit when Avilo kept talking over Greg.

I understand theres more to determining balance but....

Sigh.. watching this tonight was just.. depressing. The pillars of the community should act like pillars. They should show us in the best light, and not the embarrassing, awkward situation that bringing Avilo into the show caused. Who was right, and who was wrong is irrelevant. People acted like douche-bags. I'll still likely watch SotG, but not with the same enthusiasm, and only if I happen to see it on. I really doubt I'll make sure I log on in time to see it all.

Just.. m'eh. I expected better from the "leaders" of this community. Maybe that was just dumb/naive of me.. but now I know better.

Pretty obvious they brought me on to cut me down, have a laugh/whatever with geoff's incessant giggling or w/e he was doing in the background along with the others. Oh well, I didn't expect to be treated with respect, I at the very least expected some class.

And if somethings I said seemed "not well spoken..." It's a bit tough to bring new points into the discussion as i'm sure QXC probably already brought up most things earlier on in the show, it's also tough when I can hear their condescending laughing in the background as I try to speak, along with putting up a random picture of me like they did to try to get "more laughs." oh wells.

I appreciate being brought on regardless, it would have been nice to have some input during the first TvZ discussion they had earlier on, where the points would have been fresh and I could have added more.

I appreciate that QXC is a baller with class and didn't treat me like dirt beneath his feet, and that nony was at least neutral.

It was. JP did the right thing. It was about to become a hurricane of shit. Avilo kept interrupting Idra (think I counted 5 times) and I don't blame Idra for telling him to shut the fuck up. Especially with their past I would too.

Why did you take points Idra made and then claim they were agreeing with you when the contrary was obvious?

and for that matter when the point across the show had obviously been made of you being a TvZ balance whiner for a good year at least now, did you choose to go on?

I dont think he was a badass for cussing or insulting avilo. I think he's a man because he stayed by what he felt instead of putting on a fake smile to talk with someone he didn't expect to talk with / clearly did not want to talk with just to appease people such as yourself.

He also let avilo speak after avilo criticized idra for interrupting, then what did avilo do right after? Interrupt and condescendingly keeps saying Idra agrees yet Idra was saying something completely different than what Avilo thought.

If I was in idras position, I probably would have told him at that point to stfu as well.

Sigh.. watching this tonight was just..

Can't completely blame the pillars. Although I am disappointed by their actions as well, it was the community that was begging for this to happen because they wanted to see some drama. If we want our representatives to be mature and professional at all times, maybe we as a community should be as well.

I understand that you have to maintain a good atmosphere on the show, but in this case Idra was behaving much worse than Avilo was. Idra's the one who told Avilo to STFU and basically said that Avilo "wasn't good enough" to talk to him. Avilo, on the other hand, was not rude or disrespectful towards Idra, and he didn't make personal attacks on him.

I'm not saying that Idra is a bad person, or that he shouldn't be on the show, but tonight he behaved quite badly towards Avilo, and I would have liked to see you, as the host, stand up and give idra the slap on the wrist that he needed.

Putting words in peoples' mouths, are you Avilo?

I find Greg's demeanor cute and endearing.

Can anyone give a summary of what happened? That would be really great.

Basically iNcontroL suggested they bring Avilo on for TvZ discussion after QXC vs IdrA finished.

They bring him on eventually, and Avilo starts by asking iNcontroL about why he is so mean to him, but iNcontroL says to keep it focused on the balance discussion.

At this point it is entirely between IdrA and Avilo. Avilo brings up some points, and IdrA responds to them. Then Avilo makes some comment about how LuckyFool made a point on something. IdrA responds with a condescending remark along the lines of "I guess I haven't been keeping up with LuckyFool's blog recently." Avilo then says something along the lines of "Some people who aren't as well known actually have good things to say in this community" obviously in a frustrated manner as he was clearly referring to himself (among others, I imagine).

Then Avilo rants for awhile longer. IdrA goes to respond and Avilo says "HEY HEY HEY" over him. Geoff interjects and asks Avilo to let IdrA finish since IdrA was calm and quiet while Avilo spoke. The debate went on and Avilo tried to make it sound like IdrA was agreeing with him while he (Avilo) used some flawed logic and claimed to quote what IdrA was saying, when he wasn't. IdrA got angry and told him to STFU. JP hung up on the call with Avilo.

Basically, it was pretty much what you would expect. I'm sure I forgot some details, but essentially Avilo came on to argue with IdrA, and IdrA lashed out as anyone would expect.

Now everyone in this thread is treating it like the biggest fucking crime on the planet, and complaining about how terrible it was.

You know it's possible to have a civil debate without telling the person to "shut the fuck up" for no good reason

Why did you even respond to me? I was just summarizing it. Only the last two lines were my own opinion, but in that part I even said

but essentially Avilo came on to argue with IdrA, and IdrA lashed out as anyone would expect.

I even said that IdrA lashed out. Lashing out is not a positive thing to do, nor did I ever suggest that it was a civil way to debate. Where in the hell are you coming up with this shit? Seriously... wtf?

Im confused. People keep saying this season of gsl tvz is like 30%. just looking thru code a and code s, I don't see where this number is comming from?

Code A 2 TvZ's, both terrans won....
Code S i see 14-12 TvZ(if i added correctly)... with 7 terrans in ro16.

I understand theres more to determining balance but....

GSTL is 4-13 TvZ and then there's this:

edit: image doesn't seem to want to display correctly, not sure what's up with that.

Anyway, TvZ is in a weird state right now and obviously a lot of Terrans are displeased about what appears to be completely contradictory action from Blizzard. On the one hand, they say the designed Terran to be stronger earlier and weaker later, but on the other, they continue to make moves that weaken Terran's early game while at the same time doing nothing to strengthen the late game. It's understandably frustrating.
