Most people viewing the show are not even responding to the content by comments on reddit or TL. Also you will always get in touch with customers who are way more insulting on a much more personal level to you than those random forum posts here. Again theres a difference between constructive and deconstructive criticism. I think anyone who has followed SotG any knows that almost every episode gets some criticism yet JP has never blown up like this. The problem is the constant deconstructive criticism isn't helping anyone and anyone in his position would also be greatly annoyed by it. You are lumping all criticism's in an equal group and that is misleading. If you have a valid complaint or concern and you present it in a respectable manner I doubt JP or most other professionals in the community would take issue with that. As im sure you can admit an overwhelming amount of criticism on TL is either baseless or makes sense but delivered in a disrespectful way. Also to consider people who watch SotG as customers is wrong, its free. Customers purchase things and since no one is paying for anything in reference to the show people should be more grateful and less disgustingly entitled and disrespectful. You didnt read my post correctly, right? Ummm yes I think I did. Did you read mine. Who are the customers here? Customers purchase products, to my knowledge state of the game is free. You are aware that JP possibly wouldn't have been hired by MLG if it wasn't for his successful integration with the scene. Yes, JP put a lot of work to get where he is now, and yes, he most likely works harder than ever. However, in media, the audience is your customer.

You make it sound like customers are making a big individual contribution just by watching a show. No, they are not making the big contribution. The person(s) creating the show are the actual ones creating value, we consumers are just there to consume it. Yes, we compensate a person with advertising, or buying tickets or merchandising, and if the person makes something really valuable, other companies see their value and hire them. You make it sound like we, the consumers, made JP successful. He made himself successful by creating something that has value.
Now, of course it is in the best interest of a show, or the producers to take valuable feedback, because then they can increase the value of the show, which is good for everyone. But they are not getting valuable feedback. I can't even describe what they are getting out of this thread, or reddit, etc. But it is not valuable, it is not constructive, and those type of post are certainly not doing them a favor, and in on way do they owe it to disrespectful people to sit there and take it quietly.

This site / community really needs a forum section like arenajunkies for WoW, where only grandmaster / maybe high master players could post but everyone could read to learn. As you all know battle.net forums is completely unreadable and teamliquid is so mainstream too every elitist platinium player has found their way here already.

Just a short follow up post...think hard...who hasn't been on the show lately and said he does not like to surround himself with negativity....hmmmm....so yes, take responsibility for that as a consumer.

I'm ashamed that this community has this many people who're jsut blindly hating on everything jp does, he's good at what he does and all of you wouldn't do better if you had 5 years of practice(commented towards the blind haters). I hope jp doesn't lose his passion and will to keep going forward with this, because I, for one, love the show and hope it keeps going for a long time!

You are right as there is inherent value in everything. My only point is that not always is it only the contribution of the inherent value that makes something valuable, but after the addition of its applied value. Especially in media, I can't understand how you undervalue audience that much. There were many, many well produced television series, Firefly for instance. It carried inherent value just because of the talent of staff behind it. Then the network dropped it out of lack of audience.
Your point on feedback is as valid as JP's rant. Except that I disagree on the relationship between community and content creators. Still, for me it can only be truly mutual, meaning we owe as much or as little gratitude as the creators owe to us, with zero extra weight on either side. That may be a difference in opinion, alas I only wanted to voice that much.

Off-topic, but Firefly got cancelled because it was sabotaged by a new director. The episodes were shown out of order, and it was aired on a very bad time (Friday night death slot). But of course, the mass of consumers matters as a whole, but there is no need for individual consumers to feel self-righteous about it. And I also see a huge contradiction in fans/consumers supporting a show and giving feedback to improve it, and self-righteous individuals who think that they deserve more out of a show.

from what I have read people are angry because Sundance could not provide details about the "exclusivity" part about KeSPA and MLG partnership. In short, having Sundance on the show is equivalent of not having him on the show because he just repeats what the audience already knows.

So, out of all comments, you decide to shit on mine with your profanities? It's not only SotG that JP did, mind you. I've consumed nearly everything that man put out there, because I liked it. His regular show with Chobopeon was the first "SC2 news" I really enjoyed. I even watched him play WoW for the fun of it. And so did others, as they liked it, too. And then he was employed by MLG.

You worded the sentiment right about people being angry because Sundance did not say anything new. Your comment was a good target to shit on (with profanity), nothing personal.

I have the unique opportunity to bring Sundance on the show because I work in the office with him. The "show" was going to be a quick one-off about a huge thing that happened in the world of eSports yesterday, and then you shit on him and the "show" because he can't answer (business wise) the questions iNcontrol asked.
The show was literally planned 15 minutes prior to going on air and I'm in NYC with zero SotG assets except for the vid intro and intro/outro music -- no art. Production was terrible but the content was there and I would of rather have the exclusivity (LOL) / timeliness of the topic rather then waiting a week to discuss it.
The idiocy and pure bullshit this community feeds its personalities makes people want to quit on a daily basis. If I didn't have friends on the show that made me enjoy it and was just doing this myself, I would of quit long, long ago. Lay off the fucking kool-aid and think for yourself rather then joining the mob, getting pitchforks, and making people / tournaments / organizations drop all interactivity on social media. This post and the fact that an important and responsible person of the SCII community posted something like this, makes me just sad. Ever since the first days of State of The Game you can hear JP complaining about the so called "haters". It seems like there is no distinction between people critizing and people who just talk... "idiocy and pure bullshit". I hope one day you, JP, will realize that the viewers/users/buyers of a product x determine what the product should look like. That doesnt mean that you have to accept insults from people. But about what numbers are you talking there? 1 to a maximum of 5 %? Most people viewing the show are not even responding to the content by comments on reddit or TL. Calm down and realize that in all the jobs you will do in your life, customers will play a more or less important role. No customers involved. While it would be decent for JP to take constructive criticism and use it to better his show (which I think he has done) he doesn't have to. He's not selling us SotG, he's offering it up for free. Where did I lose you at? You are aware that JP possibly wouldn't have been hired by MLG if it wasn't for his successful integration with the scene. Yes, JP put a lot of work to get where he is now, and yes, he most likely works harder than ever. However, in media, the audience is your customer. He's putting out a show about SC2, he gets ad revenue for it and you expect him to be as pleasing to us, the customer, as a $10 crackwhore......seriously WTF! He provided us, the community, with a bunch of information about the MLG/Kespa deal. And people are angry...WHY ? STOP INSTIGATING DRAMA OVER TRIVIAL SHIT. please from what I have read people are angry because Sundance could not provide details about the "exclusivity" part about KeSPA and MLG partnership. In short, having Sundance on the show is equivalent of not having him on the show because he just repeats what the audience already knows. This falls under "trivial shit" And people honestly got mad because of incorrect formatting of the show......I have to facepalm for a while. No, my post wasn't directed at the current episode at all. Only at the common notion of the community to be only grateful and accept things. Many are wrong in their arguments and/or the way they voice it. JP is right to be pissed at them. That one side ever "owes" the other more is the only thing I disagree with. Either equally much, or nothing at all is my opinion.

I think most people are not bitching about just this one episode. I been listening to it for more than a year and I can't remember when another tournament representative was on that show (IPL, Dreamhack, etc). But at least every month there is an MLG employ on there talking about how awesome MLG is gonna be and what they are doing, sotg we be indy ? not really.
Get people on from IPL, DH and other new events and spend equal amount on each topic. Don't tell me that ppl like hellspawn wouldn't want to come on sotg to talk about dreamhack.

When did this community get to be so vile? It's both shameful and embarassing....
If you don't like it, don't watch it. I look forward to this show every week and you guys only want to ruin it.
