I'm unsure if anyone else has noticed that there are some things in SC2 that are increcibly differnt from BETA.
1. Load Time 2. Unable to Alt-Tab instantly
These are the 2 major issues ive encountered.
Now i've fixed the Alt-Tab issue by playing in "Windowed mode - Full Screen"
but the load times still are incredibly long!
I'm curious on what part of my computer i'd need to upgrade to get better load time and more stable conditions below are my PC Spec's.
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (6.1, Build 7600) Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. System Model: EP45-UD3 BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 2048MB RAM Available OS Memory: 2046MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7600.16385 32bit Unicode
Any infomation would be great thanks TL.

There are many things that might influence load times, depending on the software. HDD, CPU, ram size(not speed), gfx driver(yes, really) to name a few.
The first thing I would try is to defrag your HDD.
|
Load time seems long but that's to be expected (You meant the splash screen right?)
I can still alt-tab quickly but getting back INTO sc2 takes a while, although this is on campaign after having been playing for a few hours on a pretty shitty Dell Inspiron so take that for what it's worth.
|
NO not the splash screen, i'm meaning the game load's. the beginning of matches.
|
I had the exact same problem. The thing you have to change is your memory. I changed mine from 2GB to 4GB and it cuts down the load times by half.
|
Seems like you could do with a bit more RAM. An extra 2GB is dirt cheap these days, it's a really good investment.
|
Take it from someone who works in IT, doing a system defrag can greatly improve load times especially if you've not done one in a long time.
It may also be that you have quite a few things running in the background. If you have Windows 7 or Vista you can use the built in resource monitor to see all read/write queries on the hard drive. With a processor that is that fast, likely your hard drive is the choke point in your system when loading things is concerned.

I can instantly tab out of SC2 but it takes about 20 seconds to tab back into it. Running on 6GB of RAM. Guess it's not just me from the looks of it. SC2 is a beefy game.
|
Playing in Windowed Fullscreen is much easier than Fullscreen, load times are the same but not horrible and tabbing in is fine.
Before I learned about the "fix" it would take me 2 minutes+ to tab back in, sometimes it wouldn't even do that.

I have the same issue and i can confirm, that RAM is not the final solution. Up to a certain point (4gb) Ram is great but after that (i have 12) its not increasing anything in SC2. I can also copy that it has been much much faster in the Beta (though map load times were longer during beta on my side)
The window mode workaround might do the Job, i prefer fullscreen though. Just for the comparison - my rig: i7 - 860 @ 4ghz 12g ddr3 ati 5870 ssd HD win 7 64bit
|
for me it was slower loading times and no alt tabbing during the beta now it works just fine.
|
i have an Intel SSD HardDrive... it was the best investment in my computer in a long time.
With this thing Starcraft takes 9 seconds from clicking the icon on my desktop until the curser accepts my password to login... (my computer is an AMD phenom II,940 @3Ghz *4, 4GB RAM)
|
I had the same problem in the beta already. The only solution that works for me is set all graphic settings to low. Maybe a lower resolution can help too.
|
I have the same issue and is really aggravating. It causes major lag while in a game or observing. It has to be something wrong with the game as I should be able to spam alt tab at my leisure.
i5 670 1 gig ati HD 5770 8 gig kingston ddr3 ram western digital 1 TB 6gbps
Edit: Forgot to mention sometimes when I alt tab back into the game it can take well over a minute for it to show. (sometimes causing me to drop)

Few ATI topics are already active on blizzards tech support... many ppl are having the same problem, including me. There is no solution... they(blizzard) are practically saying its the users fault. Interesting enough everything worked perfectly when i was on Nvidia 9600GT, 10 minutes later, when i clean-installed Sapphire HD5770 Vapor-X everything was fcked up.

Load times for what, exactly? Single-player campaign missions take much, much longer to load than league multiplayer maps (presumably because of all the extra audio, unique models, cutscenes, and triggers). The average multiplayer map takes about 5 seconds to load, compared to about 30+ seconds for a campaign mission or saved game.
|
Even ladder games, for me atleast, take much more time to load than it was in beta. If i said my loading time was 2x faster in beta (both phases) i wouldnt be exaggurating.
