We really have to do something vs. Blizzard's bad behaviour! Yes I have Korean friends and don't want to buy a second game just for some super laggy fun with them.

They seem to want to build this steam-like thing where it can link the SC2 players together, and the Diablo/Starcraft/Warcraft communities together. That sounds just absolutely perfect. I have 0 problems with that. Now, how am I supposed to be meeting people? Yes I can add their user name/email (OR FACEBOOK LOL) and then we can chat. Cool. The problem is that WoW has a built in chat. You can talk in tradechat, you can group or BG with people and talk to them. Build relationships, get to know them, form a guild, add them to facebook (see the logical progression?), become friends etc. In Diablo2 (And hopefully diablo3 too, or that would be a whole new story) you can group with people, join their game, talk to them, play with them, get to know them, form guilds, become friends, add them to facebook, etc. In SC2, if I go in knowing NO BODY, I will basically play rated/custom maps. If I were to be a player that went after rated melee matches, I would join a game and play. Start the game, split my workers, and type glhf. 10-30 minutes later, the game ends, and I get a gg. Just from that, I am supposed to ask him for his email, or to become friends, or to join my random guild? Really sounds counterproductive. When I'm playing the Sc2 beta, I added the 4-5 people I knew from other online games/brother. How does that sustain a community. The only way you can sustain a community is through a community site outside of bnet (I.e teamliquid), which is counter productive to the ENTIRE PHILOSOPHY of the design. When they implement clans, they will see clans randomly forming and be like "hey this is working fine". But not really, since all these people had to get together in another medium just to talk and communicate. LANs im not really worried about because some brilliant awesome soul will find a way to make it work, and we can LAN our hearts out. Watching replays online... no idea why thats not in ![]() Playing people across the ocean................................... really? I have a few cousins in england and netherlands and we used to play BW all the time. But now I need to spend another $60 to play vs them? Their excuse is that we don't want the gameplay to be laggy... really? I want it to be laggy. I know its a limitation and I'm willing to live with it. And back to the chat stuff, I wouldn't mind a built-in IRC client. IMO that would be good enough for me, and I don't think it would take more than an hour to implement

...but with no chat channels, no cross-realm play, and no LAN (LAN _is_ an issue for tournaments) I cannot see SCII having the longevity of SCI, and I have no interest in throwing down an extra $120 (or $200, which I would have gladly spent on the collector's editions) on expansion packs for a game that I will get tired of in less than a year (and with no community aspect, I _will_ tire of it. I've stopped playing the beta because playing against random platinum/diamond players online is little more gratifying than playing against a glorified AI. They're all completely anonymous faces.). What's more, I've lost my faith in Blizzard as a company. Their response to the community's concerns is unbelievable. It seriously feels to me like Frank Pearce just shat all over the SC community. I, and probably everyone else on this forum, _want_ SCII to be as good as its predecessor, if (as it seems) the only good way to remind blizzard to wake up and notice our concerns is a flood of 1-star ratings on amazon, so be it. Son, I am disappoint.

This interview is very disheartening. I have major issues with: - Chat channels - Cross region play - No LAN, even after Battle.net validation - League system - Clan system He keeps justifying all of the horrible decisions by saying Bnet 2.0 will be good enough that people won't want to play offline, or have a chat channel, or play on LAN. But people in the Beta know Bnet 2.0 is barely functional right now. It is one of the laggiest games I have ever played with lots of disconnection issues. You can't even make your own game room that you have control of. You can create a game, be the host, and can't kick people. lol? Blizzard wants control of everything and is infantalizing its customers. We can't handling having our own lobby. We can't choose to play a laggy game with an overseas friend. We can't choose to know that being 10,000th out of a million people is actually really strong. Get over yourself, many of us are adults and can make choices for ourselves. Maybe have Bnet 2.0 be for people under 16 years old, and regular Freedomnet aka Bnet 1.0 for adult players. He keeps diverting all the questions, reluctant to answer anything. He has a very arrogant and obnoxious tone. This interview is the worst thing I have ever read coming out of Blizzard and I have played all of your games religiously since Warcraft 2. They were always my primary game and many years of my life I only played Blizzard games. This is awful. Blizzard is becoming Big Brother and hates its own customers. They should call it Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty: Fascist Edition

Blizzard has actually not said that. But your mind has some how convinced itself that they did. "Also, please note, that this is a beta test. Sometimes our developers disable parts of the game, to get players to make extensive use of another part of the game. In this case, it is important that Real ID and the Facebook integration is tested thoroughly. This does not mean it will be the only option at release." It was posted in this thread, but it was deleted after a while for unknown reason. I still believe it will be true, because friend system through emails and facebook accounts is way too limited and won't be accepted by community, which they probably know themselves. Your also absolutly sure that the limits on map makers will be removed. Why? Because you think so? I didn't say limits will be removed, i said that increasing limits is an easy modification for Blizzard to make, be it after beta, for premium accounts or other way, they can easily make it happen. Which i can't say for LAN or cross-realm play support.I'm not naive, i'm trying to view it realistically from their point of view. And of course i'm as much sure of my predictions as you are about yours.

Also lol @ Watching replays online... no idea why thats not in really no reason for it not to be unless they just don't have enough time to implement something like that (afk busy facebook)
