Totally different question from "allowed by Blizzard" of course and I could see one easily getting banned if using this in SC2 WOL ladders. But it's not like that's all SC2 will be used for: remember how enthusiastic they seem about mods? I would be very surprised if they got too bent out of shape with someone coloring one of their models for use in something other than standard SC2 multiplayer. A cool mod would be better teamskins Potential for abuse if applied to the base models for use in standard SC2, but if there was some sort of league where they were provided and accepted.. I don't see how it would be any different from playing ORAI on battle.net today

This is modding, but if it's used online without your opponent using the same packages then it is hacking. Well you would see your opponents models the same as you see yours. So if i used a zealot modded to have a faceguard, I would see my opponent with the same zealot skin. For him my zealots would look the same as his.

He's saying it can be considered an advantage when you have modified files. Lets say we are playing a first person shooter game playing on a really dark map with dark player models. Now you could re-skin the models to be say bright yellow, pink, white etc to make them stand out so you can spot them instantly against a dark wall. You could also make the models larger to spot them around corners etc, while they will still have regular hit boxes, you could see where they are when you normally couldn't.

Well you can only re-skin with this, not re-model. You can't make anything bigger or smaller. As for making your units stand out, yeah I guess it might make zealots easier to spot if i just changed their skin to bright yellow or something, but in a mirror match up it would probably be harder for you to differentiate, and that to me seems like the current bigger problem in SC2. I have no problem spotting my units, just sometimes in battle i can't tell which are my zealots and which are my opponents. Alt F fixed that for me though and i don't see how re-skinning can further help you.

People would probably find out ways to use additional models and not only reskins and that is all great for map makers.

http://www.youtube.com/user/UntamedLoli Keep in mind that any changes to the XML files will result in a crash playing with someone that doesn't have the exact same changes as you so they can't be used to your advantage.

Gonozal -> It's legal but probably against the beta's EULA. So I don't recommend turning every protoss unit into a mudkip until release.

If skinning ghosts/templars like that doesn't make them easier to snipe, I dunno what does.
