All I am saying is that his tone of voice and his sarcastic dimeaner makes it seem like he is putting on a show. Maybe it's just that i dont like him . However I can say that I havent been scared of any game or movie since I was 14 (im 24 now). Also, why doesnt he stream himself playing sc2? I always hear him say "shit man i dont have time to play sc2" yet he has 2 hours per day to play and stream this horrible game? All ive seen him do so far is walk around in dark hallways and mess with chemicals and open doors. Where are the bad guys? Where are the weapons? Where is the action?
Wait what? terrible game? lol....... bad troll is bad if u want senseless action and things exploding in your face go play CoD or whatever.
Hope Day9 is streaming again soon. This is just priceless. Sometimes its feels a little bit acted but most of his fear seems real and the rest is just him trying to make it more awesome which is like not needed at all

One example: when he peeked out the door and saw the monster roaming by, then ran back and hid in the corner and paused the game to get his stuffed rabbit. From the time he creaked open the door just far enough to see the monster until the time he paused the game, you could tell he was scared. After pausing and going to put the rabbit on his shoulder and talk to it a bit, he wasn't still scared. That seemed to be a response of "wow that was scary, everyone knows I'm scared, that's a little embarrassing, now I'm going to do something entertaining and equally embarrassing and put this stuffed rabbit on my shoulder." Maybe that was meant as a distraction from his continuing to play the game and wanting to take a break to calm down, but it was certainly an example of Day9's classic overacting and playing to the viewer's entertainment.
I definitely agree that his hesitation to open a door/enter a dark hallway/collect an item, his frustration in response to his own hesitation, and his outright screaming all confirm his fear. He absolutely piles it on after those genuine moments though, for reasons I can't understand because I'm not a psychologist.
IMHO, The pausing the game and hamming it up is most likely him overcompensating. Instead of overcoming his fear directly by facing the monster or dark door or w/e, he gets his stuffed animal and looks at the chat as a way to relieve his fear without actually facing the cause of it. It is the same defense mechanism that is at work when he over-explores.

I agree with this. Overcompensating is a way for him to evacuate the tension built up. You can feel just how much he is on edge when he opens a door into a pitch-black area. There's also the fact that he boasted about being a huge packrat and managed to run out of oil (thrice!) AND out of tinderboxes, going so far as to have his lantern on systematically in candle-lit rooms. Not to mention the hysterical laughter and the screams induced by self-inflicted situations. The chat antics and Manfred are just a way for him to postpone his fear. From what I've seen in videos, people have two main reactions when faced with terrifying situations: stalling (pausing the game) or rushing like a madman through the levels. I've seen Day[9] do both, but he tends to prefer the former. When faced with a monster, however, he runs screaming like a little girl (and gets killed. )
This game really knows well how to invoke the most primal fears in people. I can safely say I will never play it, watching is enough. Thank you so much Day[9] for doing this so I don't have to!

It's simple, he enjoys being scared, but not being tense. The tension in this game makes it scary, and once he is able to be scared without being tense (like how he complains about ho his legs are tensing up the entire time) he can appreciate the game. He is enjoying more than the average person because he love game design so much.

Apparently people don't understand the concept of an entertainer and would rather play lie detector. Amusing.

He's used to being on camera.
It's only natural that he would fall back into character when all else fails.
I guess this makes me a psychologist.

Has anyone actually played amnesia? It's MUCH scarier playing it then watching it. I imagine the headphones alone send the creepiness sky high.

Yeah beat it thrice. The first time through I was pretty damn scared up until where Day is now (Prison level 2). Once you beat this level you kinda understand the monster mechanics and it's not as scary anymore (at least for me).
But still, I'm not someone that's normally afraid of games or movies and whatever, so it was a pleasant surprise that the first half of the game scared me. I really liked the slow buildup and the atmosphere.

Next play through is monday. =(

SaSe today on the daily! What a treat

SaSe day! Happy panda me am.
Amnesia Spoilers(not plot though):
+ Show Spoiler +I just started Amnesia, the water part is fucking brilliant. The design of this game is marvellous, and I'm feeling manlier to be able to withstand this with only screaming through the whole water part. The first time the "Thing" appeared my heart was still racing 30 minutes after.

Uuh, sneaky, Day9 is hiding from us that bomber has a ninja expo.

So no Amnesia tonight? It's the only reason I'm still awake

Near the start of the show he said something about finishing the game without a break. So it should be happening, not 100% sure though.

Iunno about you guys, but I'm here for the MOFUGGIN' DAILY.
