Amnesia does a great job in immersion which lots of games these days fail heavily at. The game reminds me a lot of some old school survival horror style games which were greatly overlooked like the Clocktower series.

Jitsu I have had the same problem. i contacted his channel day9tv. on twitch. they said they solved the problem. so when i was going inn today to watch the chat i was still banned. the dude just said that sometimes they are a little "trigger" happy with the ban button for no particular reason Just had the same problem.... Honestly most of the mods in day9's channel can be real cocksmoches. Only one that seams reasonable is g4mer. Looking forward to more amnesia play throughs! ... Only next time, he wont have any oil OR tinderboxes.... muahahahaha. Really....cocksmoches....that's what you're going with? Maybe don't act like a dick in chat and you won't have a problem?
I got banned in chat for saying "Stop saying here we go." I think they did just hit ban for a large section of chat and they did not discriminate at all. In their defense there were alot of people typing "HERE WE GO" really quickly. But you should take time instead of ruining peoples nights with bullshit bans.
BTW last night was one of my first day9 live episodes... it was not a good impression mods...

His constant battling on whether or not to continue to the next room, his constant fiddling with objects to relieve tension, his involuntary outbursts to startling stimuli ( a scream or loss of sanity, seeing a monster, etc) all point to him actually being terrified. I believe at one point he said something to the effect of "I am a 25 year old man and I am terrified" while asking the audience for advice on which room to go to (think it was during the water monster fight) You really can't fake these behaviors. If Sean was most concerned with providing entertainment like you say, he would not be picking up EVERY chest and rock and box and twirling it around, and he would not be struggling so much with advancing the plot (going into the next room). Those behaviors clearly show he is scared of continuing. I understand that for someone who has never played Amnesia (which you really should its amazing) it seems strange that a game can scare a grown gamer as badly as it is. But the game really has every characteristic of a well made scary movie : Realistic, isolated, tense music, uncertainty of the rules of the universe. Those are clearly the qualities the development team aimed to maximize and they did a fucking great job. (furthermore the way they script their events is nothing short of perfect) So yea, Amnesia is just that scary, Sean would have to 1. be fully aware of what involuntary behaviors one is likely to exhibit in a scary situation, and 2. be a good enough actor to fool 15k people, and 3. actually not be getting scared while playing amnesia (highly unlikely lol)
I agree with you, I was not saying he is faking his emotions at all. I think it's even harder to contain those emotion because he has to speak during his daily to explain what he is doing and things like that.

The mods aren't that bad, you just have to keep your head down and not look like a troll. I bet that the mods keyword-banned everyone who had put "Here we go" in their posts. Just don't look at the trolls and you will be fine.

I also kind of felt this way. and I played the game just a little bit and it's kind of unsettling, but I probably didn't immerse myself very much. Which also brings up the question of how can Day9 be that immersed when he is streaming to thousands?
But the flip side of it is that it's Day9 and that's the personality he displays 100% of the time he is ever streaming/broadcasting so I am gonna go ahead and say that he is sincere for the most part

I played that game. I got to pretty much where Day is right now and then I quit, haven't been able to continue since. I don't think he's faking for a second.

He's definitely not putting up an act. He's acting normally and that game makes you shit bricks like there's no tomorrow. The stream even makes it scary for me as a viewer and i can't imagine playing it nor will i ever do. What i noticed though is that in the first episode when Day9 was all tough and impersonating earthquakes then i got a bit calmer too. In the second part he's all scared, which makes me scared.
I'm glad i get to see a playthrough with such a hilarious commentary.

To those who claim he is faking it and/or trying to compare FEAR as scarier than amensia really need to play it themselves in the dark all alone with headphones on, high volume and the right gamma etc. If you claim you did that and still can't understand that day9 is actually as scared as he seem to be, then yea.. *confuse face on* :s
Also, amnesia is such a much more brilliant game than FEAR. The atmosphere and the constant fear and worry that something "might happen" is soo amazingly well done. Especially seeing how many people Frictional Games consist of (the company that made it). Go check it out, if I remember correctly they are basically just a small group of friends, and being able to deliver such a game is absolutely stunning.
At least thats my thoughts on it, feel free to disagree.

As a general rule of thumb - if you wonder whether Day9's (or anyone's) reaction to the game is real - stop watching the VoD and go play Amnesia yourself. :D
Amazingly cheap, and - if you're playing the game properly (darkness + alone), you will be scared. :D
