Please don't get me wrong, i think sean is awesome and i would never question his credibilty, and i know he is an emotional guy and really gets scared fast and so on, but i may have the slightest feeling, that he might exaggerate on his scare a bit to provide more entertainment value for his viewers... anyone else felt sth similar or am i just an empathy noob? You clearly haven't played Amnesia. :p

Which part has thepart where he gets scared by chair? Watching this makes me want to finish amnesia

ye indeed i haven't. Maybe i am wrong, i just thought it felt a bit strange when he shrieked like 30seks after the games loaded.. whatever. Doesn't matter anyways as long as its entertaining i guess

Anybody know what is the funday monday topic this week?

he should totally play F.E.A.R., i think he wont survive it though.

While watching him play through Amnesia is entertaining, I can't help but feel that a lot of it is an act. I mean really, how scary is a small splashing puddle chasing you around..?
|
If day9 is the more resistant of the 2 brothers, i wonder what it would take to make tasteless play and stream amnesia...
|
I know Day[9] is partially an entertainer, and that was very evident in the first few parts where he was trying to make a lot of jokes and be funny in general.
Now the game has picked up and he's actually at scary parts, and notice how he's not making those jokes as much anymore and is spending most of his time paranoid and worried? That's definitely not an act. (And if you've played Amnesia, you know exactly how scary it is~)

Read the above posts. Its not just the puddle. Its the atmosphere that comes with it - its hard to pick up on the stream but I'm certain Day9 can hear it all just fine. There's a lot of very subtle ambient noise that just fucks with you constantly. Every moment is filled with dread that something is going to happen, and you'll have to react, but you have no idea how to react to it in a sensible way.
After you've played it once you also start psyching yourself out. The game is scary and thus you are scared of it, even before touching it.
And then there's the chairs.
The funniest part about that water section isn't the water section itself. Just wait until he encounters water again. It sets up an amazing feeling of terror at the sight of water.

Of course he's acting a little, he's there to entertain the viewers. That doesn't mean Amnesia isn't a scary game. Watching someone else play it doesn't do it justice.

lol only came back to watch day9+amnesia
remembered y i loved his vid

Doesn't matter anyways as long as its entertaining i guess There is a big difference between playing and watching the game. The game mechanics, as Day9 said, helps to give the game it's atmosphere. When opening a door, you have to really open it, not just press a button. When there is a monster, you can't fight back at all. You have to hide and hope he doesn't see you, because if he does, you are dead.

When he gets hes bunny etc, hes making the already hilarious video even more hilarious, so ya there is acting, but having played Amnesia my self i know it can be scary as hell. If you arent scared of the game( or if u are basing your feelings into watching streams, your opinion comes across as dick weaving )... allright. You arent scared of this kind of thing. Want a cookie?
Now lets put you in front of hundreds, even thousands of people live audience, and some people might get paralyzed while day9 dosent have problem with it. People are differend, and in my opinion, you should just enjoy the videos instead of trying to find reasons to dislike it.
Then again, everybody knows whats been said about haters...

If you'd played it, you wouldn't be asking. I played that damned game all the way through -- in the dark and with awesome headphones. It really is a terrifying and awesome experience, and watching Day[9] and others play through it and piss themselves now is my therapeutic reward.

Play it alone, at night, in the dark, with the sound up loud.... you will soon understand.

Games like Amnesia are scary if you haven't played them before for most people, even if only due to the unexpected scares. How scary depends on how the ambiance and atmosphere affects you. Some people will be scared just by the threat of grunts, or even the darkness and miscellaneous sounds. Others will only jump if a monster pops up in their face and shrieks in their headphones, and then continue on playing without experiencing even an adrenaline rush.
I'd say the former experience is the best for horror game enthusiasts. If the player is not scared, then the game becomes just a challenge, and while some horror games has interesting story and other elements to appreciate, the gameplay mechanics are usually far from challenging and can become predictable and repetitive. In Amnesia for example, there are very few enemies that patrol unscripted; most enemies will appear after you have achieved some progress and then forever disappear. The puzzles are also unremarkable and very easy to solve.

totally lmfao'ed at 13:00 part 8 XD

Hey day9! Thanks a ton for your cover of MvP's TvZ style. It has really helped revolutionize my play in that matchup. I know you also covered Naniwa's protoss play in the episode right after but Im really struggling with PvZ as a whole, and oddly enough my ZvP is no better. Can you please do an in depth cover of the matchup with the tactics and decision making that goes on at the pro level?

daniel daniel DANIEL!!! oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!

Really really like the amnesia sessions :D So much fun, i think Day9 handled the second part better than the water part
