I agree with the first 2 sentences here. Imho they've failed with this beta, aside from the UI, at "incorporating major change and testing while we're in beta". Most of the changes they've done, and are continuing to do, have little significance to the overall game.
It doesn't take a high level player to tell you how imbalanced so many different aspects of the game are right now, of all races and all MUs. As I've been saying for a while, people are under the guise of "it's only beta" but the reality of how short a time from release we are is finally starting to settle in. These problems will persist through release and this is where I disagree with your last statement. I think right now the balance is just as bad, if not potentially worse than WoL started out with. There are way more unit interactions and dynamic layers to be toyed with still; and with units such as the oracle that can still go through a complete unit redesign I think we have a very long way to go.
That said, I hope this motivates the community to properly, and politely push blizzard to kick their development into high gear. If we continue to settle for the patches we've been getting for the past 2 years HotS, or even future releases, will never reach the e-sport we all want them to be, as sad as that sounds.

seems ok to me. Remember how incomplete WoL was when it was released? I don't see this as a bad sign, it's a polishing phase and more balance changes will come after the game is saturated in pro play long enough.
Kyo no one is settling on Blizzards changes, we've been in an uproar for maybe close to two years now about how this or that needs to be changed. The fact of the matter is, it's blizzards game! We can cry all we want but in the end, if blizzard doesn't like the idea, it won't happen! It's a business, so there needs to be a product released soon. HotS is gearing up for it's money making phase, because the publisher is demanding to see profit. But that doesn't mean we can't still pester blizzard for more changes and that doesn't mean blizzard will make changes either. It's their game, as a community we have to have input of course, but in the end, it's on them.
I'm also a believer that Blizzard wants the game to be released and watch the game unfold at pro level and see where the game goes. Remember WoL in GSL 1 and 2 was exciting but we all know what WoL has become. There is no guarantee that HotS will have the same type of downward trend, we'll just have to wait and see.

+ Show Spoiler +While I agree there are others who are not happy with where the game is at they are the very few compared to the masses who are more focused on how the game "should be" rather than "how it should play". That is to say, the problem is not a one-dimensional issue with just game play.
Now, to be completely honest I 100% disagree with your second notion that we can cry all we want and have no ability to change the game. "Crying" I find to be a very emotional word and therefore I propose you use the phrase "logically argue" with Blizzard to change the game. There is a direct causal link between your second idea in the paragraph and the first. If you prevent them from making money they will change the game. In other words, don't buy the product if you don't like it. If that's what it takes for blizzard to ultimately realize how off-base they are, with not only their involvement in the game, but also balance, interface, and countless other issues then that's what people should do. You could argue that they have no responsibility, or obligation to fulfill these needs for us. If that's anyone's argument then I'd simply reply with: "If they won't support the game when they have the obvious means to due so I won't support their company." That's not crying at all. That just appears to be a simple logical argument, and a sad one ;(
In any case, with this date released now I wonder if this will lead them to any other big changes in the last month. It's pretty much the last stretch they have before the game is adopted everywhere so hopefully they come out with some announcements soon.

This is going to make MLG awfully hard to practice for then, isn't it? Those games are going to be a mess unless these players get their strategies set a few weeks before the event. Even then, if Blizzard decides to make any changes between the end of beta and release that could potentially mess up everything.

Wow that's kinda lame lol. Was hoping it would stay live till at least the 8'th. 12 days of no hots nooooooooooo .

While there are still a few balance holes in the game I think they've done a great job of HoTS. Release day HoTS looks much better than Release day WoL balance wise. Don't forget guys that once the game goes live blizzard will have a much bigger audience of players including a lot more who actually have skill. Once they are in and abusing everything as much as they can blizzard will be able to see and plug the real holes. Theres no point going for perfect balance during the beta with such a small, low skill player base.

can't wait for the release date. I don't want to play WoL between march 1 - 12 ;(

You know it's not fair for Blizz employees to compete in SC2 tournaments for obvious reasons.
David Kim and Matt Cooper (and perhaps more) were able to stay in GM in WoL for a very long time (only dropping out due to inactivity when it got closer to HotS, and not due to MMR getting significantly worse). So basically they are better at the game than 99.8% of the [North American] population (well maybe closer to 99.6% if about half of the player base is inactive/casual/campaign players), isn't that good enough? ^^
And don't forget they allow pros to send e-mails and prove why something is imba (they referenced a progamer once who showed a replay showing that a certain void ray all-in was literally unbeatable). And for the beta, they have a specific forum for the pros to give feedback there.

Agreed . Playing WoL after hots is like I don't know any analogies but no fun!

No major game play changes or redesigned features, one thing I honestly expected was a way to vote for new maps every season. As a casual one thing that has really put me off is playing on the same maps for nearly 6 months. It isn't fun to play, and it certainly isn't fun to watch for tournaments (which I think can be attributed to WOL declining viewership).

they have said they are going to update map pool a lot more regularly and all that fun jazz. Whether they keep their word is to be seen but I think when hots is released there will be new tournament maps (hopefully).

So do I need to max out on all levels or do I just have to get level 5 for each race?

I don't trust this, if the past is any indication.
I was thinking of an automated system on BN where current laddering players vote on maps. It can be an easy system, say there are currently 12 maps in the pool at the end of every season you vote. You vote for which 6 maps you want to get rid of then vote for which maps you want to replace them with. Take the top 6 out of the total agregate map pool that currently exists. These maps can come from the melee section, or whatever they call it. This allows for all types of mapmakers to have a chance for their maps to be played on and it makes SC2 more open for innovation through community made maps instead of relying on Blizzard.
The map pool really demovitates from me wanting to play. It would be nice to have variety and regular changes.

This is sad T__T. Bye SC2
Oh wait

For those who don't know the choices you made in WoL campaign have a small influence on HoTS campaign. So if anyone does not have the WoL campaign complete on their current installation theres something for you to do during the downtime.

Oh god. HoTS multiplayer is going to be such a joke.
