Unfortunately, that still doesn't explain why it showed that I had 1000+ APM in my games. My APM is 110 at most (game time), and if you do the math, that doesn't equate to 1000 in real time.

I still miss the old WoL counter. For good old loyal players, that is the way to compare how fast are u playing.

Something is wrong with the APM stats for sure. I'm fairly new to SC2, not terrible but I've been playing for less than 6 months and am low master league level on an average day and my "average apm" is shown as like 330; I know from experience how long it takes to get comfortable enough with a game that you play with 300 apm on average, probably at least a year and a half of ~20-30 games per day. My highest apm for a mathup is definitely PvT and it feels like MAYBE 160 apm to me, no more.
It's definitely not taking your peak/max apm, though, because I have right click bound to the mousewheel and if it was reading peak apm it would be reading like 1k apm whenever I set rally points or something. I also seriously doubt that it's just the difference between taking the apm in real time or not, because the difference between "faster" and real time seconds is, iirc, 1.4 or 1.8 or something (I don't know for sure but it's above 1 and below 2); the difference between "330 apm" and a more realistic 150 apm is a lot more drastic than that.
I think it's just totally screwed up at the moment, but I wouldn't totally write off Blizzard tampering with it to artificially double your apm to make you "feel better about yourself"; between hiding your true MMR and separating the ladder into a billion little leagues and divisions, they seem to be completely comfortable with the idea of putting out artificially inflated data and statistics to make players feel like they are a lot "better" than they really are.
That said, although it isn't a huge deal I would like to be able to see my actual apm; looking at the stats screen and thinking "okay, that's total bullshit, there is NO WAY that's accurate" doesn't increase my self esteem, it just frustrates me. If they are going to give APM stats, I'd like them to be accurate so I can see if I'm undergoing improvement or if I'm slacking off.
I do really like the idea of showing your stats each game as compared to your average stats, it's a cool idea, but please make them correct!

I think me having an APM of 938 at the score screen is pretty accurate, I'm just that good.

I don't know how it's possible for Blizzard to mess up so badly the apm counter.
In wol I was at 170-200 apm (from sc2 gears), and in hots I've got 250apm. I may be a bit faster since there is more to do in hots, but probably not by 50-70 apm

The hots thing is kinda buggy, or was. i had 1300 apm in some games, and 0 in others. maybe they fixed it cause in recent games i have had like normal apm.
|
My APM in HotS tops out at 4,780. This sounds about right for me--probably not bugged.

I believe the reason everyones APM is so high for zerg is because of larva. Say you have like 30 larva and hold down z to spawn 30 lings it takes less than a second and counts each one of those spawns as apm, so really increases your apm.
|
i know i have high apm between 340-420 even in broodwar times, but now the game trys to telling me i have 8000 and i DONT THINK SO xD

That might be true, but I play Protoss and I got readings of 1000 APM. Haha.

Mine went from 130 to 160

its broken, but u shouldnt give a damn about apm. look at what u do wrong ingame, not how fast u (most likely) spam.

WOL/SC2 Gears doesn't count a request to train a unit if you don't have the money for it (BW Chart did,) nor does it count camera hotkeys. Anyone know if HOTS is taking these into account?
So if you are hearing "You require more minerals" (as you should be) or mashing an upgrade hotkey repeatedly when one is about to finish, in WOL, it is not counting those as actions

The Broodwar counter is the most accurate.

HotS APM is higher and there is definitely more to it than just Blizzard to real time conversion. My APM in WoL, real time, according to SC2Gears was generally around 160-180. In HotS I'm consistently above 230. I do feel like I'm playing faster in HotS but not so much that it would explain such a large increase.. Would really like to know exactly where the discrepancies are coming from.

Guys, the APM tab is obviously correct, I mean, last game it said my average APM has been 830. And I am quite confident that I can regularly hit 800 throughout a game. /sarcasm.
The APM shown for the game you just played seems to be a little bit higher too, it seems to be about 50 or so higher for me each game.
