Ok so I ran a few searchs and I couldn't find anyone talking about this. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue with the beta.
When I watch a replay the APM pane average counter doesn't seem to be very accurate. It'll be ok for a while but then it will just jump by almost a hundred for no reason. The constant APM readout seems pretty accurate but the average is definitely not...
I'm sorry but I don't have an average APM of 180+, I just don't, lol.
PS: I also have the same issue with the EPM counters.

APM on HOTS seems to be calculated way higher from replays than in WoL. I also doubt I have 400 apm when playing zerg, it should be around 300. But maybe theyre calculting it as real seconds apm or something...
|
If that is the case it seems kind of stupid to change one of the key metrics for measuring mechanical player ability...
|
I've had higher average apm in hots than in wol since I started playing a couple of months ago. Not sure if it's a bug or they've just changed how it's calculated. It's not the same at least and it's been there since the start of the beta as far as I'm aware.

I have also had higher APM by a lot, but i think i am actually doing more. The WOL counter also doesnt count screen hotkeys
|
They may have started doing it by real time APM, as opposed to Blizzard time.
|
I think it's just working like it's supposed to now, besides the season average counter.

I think it only displays your peak APM. Not the average like it should.

In the score-screen it says my average apm is 932... must be true. :D

This is not true. My peak apm is always around like 500-600 in any SC1/SC2 game and my average in HotS after every game is about 280-350.
They are either counting in real time now AND counting more action types OR they have a fucked up counter that is just wrong atm.
|
it's 100% broken...all the stats are wrong 100% broken, My average apm in wol is like 80-120 and in hots it say 900-1900 year right that crap is 100% wrong lol I hate how they record useless information in hots. I wish they bring back WOL stats after each game.
I find it much more useful to see the worker count of each player for econ results vs the new stupid apm.
Apm means nothing imo unless ur top gm/pro player, as most apm from players are useless spam, does not help anyone improve to know what someones apm is, bring back the info wol shows after each match, Beta stats is just useless
|
It's possible that it's by real time + includes screen movement actions (clicking minimap + location hotkeys), but I think it's just fucked up. My average real time APM according to SC2 gears was ~190 and in HotS my apm is recorded at ~280, so this seems reasonable to me, but based on some of the above numbers this doesn't seem likely.
|
I believe that APM is calculated in real time now. So it should naturally be at least 25% or so? higher than your WoL APM, even if you don't play any better.

In Almost all of my replays zergs average over 400 apm while terrain and toss average 350ish. I haven't seen anyone with less than 300. Its calculating per real minute but being divided by the fake in game minute which is inflating the number.

Yeah, I warmed up with a HotS game and had 100 apm and then all the 3v3 WoL games I played next had 50-60 apm. A little irritating, but at my level apm isn't the most important thing I need to worry about (map awareness, scouting, saturating bases ect), so it isn't the worst bug for the beta to have

For me, it's accurate (based on my WoL APM) some of the times, but I think it's glitched. Most of the time, it says my APM is 1000+, which is funny because even if it's calculated in real time, I still don't have an APM of 800.
I guess the real time thing makes sense for when it's actually working because I did see an increase in APM, even though I'm still not as good at HotS as I am at WoL. It does make me happy when I see that my APM is 2384. (o^-^)o Although I would like to know my actual APM without having to pull up a replay.

The APM counter in WoL wasn't showing your real speed. It is showing actions per ~43 seconds, a minute in game time, (60 seconds / 1.4), not actions per real minute, which HoTs is showing.
