I did not find a thread for this, so I'll ask it here and get a discussion going:
What will you do on HoTS launch day? =D
I'm most likely going to be playing a lot of the campaign at first, playing that through and through, maybe even try and go for achievements. After that, I'll spam ladder like I've never done because most likely, everything's so random! :p I am afraid of what I'll be doing though, as for ''new standard play'' because it'll be awkward for a while I think. Any ideas on that perhaps? =D
Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts!

Play the game? I've never played the WoL campaign so I doubt I will play the HoTS campaign.

Anyway, I'd like to hear your thoughts! One thing to avoid the awkward play, is there have already been some decent guides (depending on your level) written in the HOTS forum. You could try reading through those first, some detail out safe-ish openings. They, at the very least, could give you a good idea on when to take gas and build key structures. I think the MsC really changes the early game the most for any race, since it is gas expensive but good in the early game. Even when I play the beta I'm not entirely sure how and when I should work it in.
As for me, I'm definitely going to be playing through the campaign, probably with all of the achievements before I hit the ladder again.

I am a sucker for the single player campaign even though multiplayer is the meat of the game. I will probably just run through the campaign at night then in the morning hop on ladder
Play ladder until I get tierd, then campaign.
Going to play my placement matches, probably losing all of them to new kinds of cheeses.
Then, depending on if my friends buy it on launch day, I'll either play team games with them (assuming they want to as well) or I'll play the campaign on hard, saving brutal for the second play through.
I'll be doing the same thing I did on WoL launch. Play and finish the campaign before I even touch the Multiplayer. I'll also be doing a marathon of the WoL campaign before HOTS launch day to get refreshed on the story

Campaign of course. Interesting what will happen after epic events in SC: Flashpoint
I'll be waiting for my copy to come in the mail.
I will play random and I will do the worlds most insane all ins that will work for the sole reason of being new and people won't know how to counter them. I will be the next BitByBit.

I'll be playing the campaign a lot I think, it looks so fun, finish it once at least and then ladder.

Exactly. I enjoyed the WOL campaign a lot.
Also I'm not really impressed with HOTS multiplayer, I feel like the game (at least from the Protoss side) takes a lot less skill than before with the new power of Void Rays (slow and powerful air units are the ultimate a-move units, not even terrain can stop them) and with Photon Overcharge (or Purify or whatever, they keep changing the name) allowing you stop early rushes with one click. I enjoyed holding early pressure and all-ins with actual micro and skill. I may hold off on playing multiplayer until things stabilize a bit balance wise and professionals come up with legitimate strategies.
I will probably finish the campaign on brutal before going to my placements. By that time, the hardcore multiplayer dudes have already gotten placed and the competition should be a cakewalk
Do the campaign on like medium or just hard to get through it fast (I really only care bout story lol) then straight to ladder.
I will probably find out how many games I can win in a row before losing one on release day. Own dem noobs!
Since I have my last exam at that day for this semester, I will likely start massing some games until the new semester
I might cancel my Gamestop order and get it on Battle.net so if they allow me to download it before servers go up, then I'll wait until midnight and play ASAP. Probably campaign, as I expect the multiplayer to still be a bit iffy (though it'll probably be fun)!
Brew a pot of green tea, cut some apples and oranges, and break out the metronome. Then crash head long into the ladder at high speed.
Well, seeing as I've been playing the HotS beta for months already, when I get the retail copy I'll probably playing mostly campaign. Also I'll be watching people stream HotS, because it will probably be a lot more organized when the game actually launches.
Add me to the list of people waiting for our collector's edition in the mail.
Lose all my placement matches, and start my Random adventure from the ground up.
Im really just looking forward to the campaign, ive been doing alot of Beta gaming so i dont think im going to be very excited about the ladder its not like much is going to be changed.
Crying like a fangurl, worshipping Kerrigan, playing campaign (without skipping dialogue or cinematics, taking ALL the lore information etc) to death and cry again if it will be awesome (Blizz better won't screw Kerris part up!) Then replaying it for other branched storyline. Thank sketching and painting good scenes from it (stuff for like 3 years, should keep me busy)
<333
I'll play the campaign first to see the new units! :D
Then probably play some matches with a friend(s). I don't like playing on ladder too much. :S

I was thinking about that, but then thought of how messy it could be. Definately going to be checking that out a couple of days before launch though, now I'm just trying new things on HoTS when I'm a bit burnt out on WoL ladder.

Also that, yeah. Can't wait for one more Blizzard collectors edition! =D Does anyone also have a clue of what'll happen to this forum? Will it get merged, or will they stay separate WoL/HoTS forums?

What he said, but after I finish the campaign on hard. I don't really want to get stuck, which might happen on brutal. I still haven't beat the last WoL mission on brutal.
Campaign!!1
Im so excited for this!! Been waiting for so long for the story to continue! I have completed the one in WoL around 7 times now and I'm getting abit impatient :p
After that I might grab myself some more thousands of ladder games =)
I'll be teaching Primary School kids, daydreaming in the staffroom until I go home and grind the ladder/play some of the story. That or I find a way to work into a maths lesson. :p

WoL Strategy becomes HotS Strategy and this forum goes back to being the Single Player forum.
Definitely checking out the campaign! Will stick it straight on Brutal and get stuck in. As much as I love the multiplayer you can't beat a bit of brand new campaign!! I always try not to finish it too quickly so will probably play alot of ladder inbetween too to eek it out a bit,
Can't wait..

I started some marathon some weeks ago. completed the whole sc1 vanilla + bw campaign (with no skipping missions etc.) taking 40 minutes on the harder missions (didn't want to rush it, didn't skip dialogue) etc and now the same goes for wol. am currently finished with hanson, have to do last mission of Horners mission and on the artifact-missions on typhon. so basically half-through. Also will read Flashpoint after it arrived and after i finished wol (so everything is in a chronological order)
lawl :D but was fun
Cry that i probably wont be able to afford it due to shitty exchange rates over here
EDIT: Checking it, its cheaper then expected, but still way overbudget haha, now it only costs exactly 1 months rent on my house! cool aye.
100% Campaign for me. Complete lore freak. Plus I wanna see what I can evolve my swarm into :D
Gather ALL the lore information HotS carries with it. not a line will be skipped, not a cutscene will be esc-raped <333
Def going to be whoring up the campaign. First Brutal playthrough any1?
Over here! I thought firstly i do hard to enjoy the story etc, and second day brutal for achievements etc. But HotS will have less difficulty-options, so i will decide spontaneously. I doubt that i will make it through every mission on brutal in the first/second try.
And even if "hard" will feel boring compared to it.

I think it's better to enjoy campaign on brutal on 1st try. More epic feelings will be when it will end.
let me think...... mmmmmmmmmmmm, play the game?
Play another game because the servers will be down/constanly lagging out
Play campaign on Brutal, and then go back and get all the achievements.
Buy it and be annoyed that I pay more then I did for Wings (they messed up their pricing in germany but why complain if you get a game for 2/3 of the standard price) and then play the campaign.
When I get it, I'll play campaign on hard and after that on Brutal. The story flow is better like that than trying do brutal at first.
Definitely checking out the campaign first! Then spam the 1v1 like i never did on Wol, with the new unranked mode!! (damn ladder anxiety killed me on WoL!! :D ) Team play will start the moment my friends begins to receive their copy!

I guess not (okay i wasn't asked lol) i mean on hard it is more serious and not too easy, but you don't get struck. so it is hard and you can play the campaign without failing all the time and retrying and loosing your nerve and thus loosing fun and interest for the story.

It's hard to let yourself be pulled in the story, if you are repeating mission all the time. I wouldn't also appreciate small things, map design, atmoshere etc. Someone else might feel it differently, but I think it's better this way.

I plan on releasing 3 zvx guides and then probably playing the campaign.
I read on the forums that blizzard is probably going to have the beta go until like the day before release so if that's true I will probably go straight to campaign. I might just go play some multiplayer then do campaign, not sure which but I feel like I will most likely do campaign first.
I can't wait till release

Probably just ladder. Is the campaign that good? I've never played a starcraft campaign.

Blizzard said there will be less options than in wol. so no "easy medium hard brutal"... maybe only 3

This. Stopped playing starcraft for much more than a full year so my skill atrophied from masters to somewhere around plat by now I'd assume. Gonna be a good challenge.

Haha. I often do this sort of thing when a new game comes out!
Maybe I could do it again also. The whole SC1 and BW campaign is well worth playing through again.

With all the campaign lovers out there, is it just the storyline and character development you're interested in? Just because I'm HELLA looking forward to playing Kerri and levelling her skills up and evolving my swarm to my play style. Especially all the other upgrades and things you can get like the world destroying missions :D

I'll play the campaign, not sure if on normal or hard mode.

More interested in story/characters/artistry/atmosphere than mission design, skills units etc. (even tho i still really like it)

That's funny, the campaign is something I never even think about. WoL's plot was one of the worst I've seen in recent years, and apparently I don't even care anymore.
So...ladder ladder ladder. I think as a random player at first, then switching back to Zerg eventually. I...just want to gain some levels for every race (yes I realize it's ridiculous).

wuahaha, same here but for high school :D They're not as easily fooled (you cant daydream) :D
play the campaign at normal like a meth addict and then (the next day prolly it will all depend when they will down the beta) i ll ladder like there is no tomorow
campaign on hard or brutal, probably hard to start with. then after a few games head online and see what is up.
Campaign on Brutal then maybe ladder a bit. Ladder's probably going to be unstable as hell so I don't want to do placements against masters/grandmasters etc...
Straight up ladder! Still haven't completed WOL campaign
Finish the campaign in around 1 week. Then ladder asap
Two years ago you'd never hear me say this, but I don't find myself that interested in the campaign!
Much more interested to see what becomes of multiplayer. I hope that things aren't as boring at release as they are now.
