I hadn't realized quite how bad protoss is in HoTS till now. How many HP does the mothership core have if it can die to literally four infested terran? FOUR, that's not a lot of infested marines and it died in like five seconds. I noticed the oracle costs a wopping 200 gas which is frankly ridiculous. You could almost get 2 DTs for that much gas.

Anyway, that's what beta is for I guess but Toss has a loooooooong way to go. GJ for Catz tho that build was SO SICK.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

Man I don't know if it was just Catz being Catz but that looked like a solid and viable way to pressure toss as long as queens can bully observers back.

I'm very excited for swarm hosts now.

I think Protoss isn't viable anymore
As hard as 2 base all-inning is, defending a third seems much harder.

I am unsure of what you are talking about, there are only 2 races in HOTS atm, Terran and Zerg.

Doesn't look like it...just a few of those swarm hosts/locusts will completely melt the three immortals which pretty much makes the attack useless.

Fuck I hope they buff toss rather than nerf swarmhosts. I mean sure maybe a little nerf if necessary... But really toss needs so much right now. It makes sense that locusts would be good against immortals, there's nothing wrong with that. They might just make immortal sentry all-ins unviable and right now there's not many other ways to go protoss especially if they don't make the core a fair bit better.

...I wonder if they could make the core only require gateway tech and make it have to stay within a certain radius of a nexus... or something like that... Hard to say.

Haha, I know some of us Protoss wanted to make the race a bit more difficult but this is ridiculous guys!

I don't remember the numbers, but yes Mothercore is pretty weak, around what a regular gateway unit would have as hp/shields. Theorically it's not supposed to be a combat unit, but the sad and harsh truth is that it is absolutely useless to have sitting in base (energize is a good ability on paper, but it has nearly zero usefulness in practice since it's only really good to recharge oracle's energy, and oracle is rubbish; mass recall is good but even with that you don't really push in early game as protoss because you don't have any option to do it effectively without going all in. Purify is a half decent attack ability but only in desperate situations, any protoss would rather have a couple of stalkers more to help defend, rather than the mothership core).

Catz build was good, but when you get a unit that spawns attacking unit for free, and is burrowed, and frankly doesn't cost as much as zergs would make you believe, it's not hard to make it work. Just remember that in game 1 Catz made that unit work after a failed six pool which should economically crush you... (granted, TT1 made a pretty blatant mistake spending money on stargate and especially on immortals, but then again, the only two things that can work against Swarm Hosts are colossi and HTs and good luck getting to that tech and a production in that situation)

And as far as Protoss goes, they need to go back to the drawing board, because unless they do some huge buff, there will be no Toss players once hots launches.

With medivacs are 2base allins vs T viable anymore? Swarm hosts take quite a while to get to, and even when you get them it is not a certain defense. Catz techs fairly aggressively and he barely had any in time. It is possible to bypass them with blink/recall. TT1 recalled to the natural, but if he had managed a recall to the main it would be completely different. Also I imagine colossus would fry them.

Everyone agrees that P is a bit broken right now so almost any strat atm seems underwhelming, but 2base allin does definitely seem like it can work.

The original Mothership Core seemed so much better than the very slow 250 hit point air unit that is now the Mothership Core. The old one could teleport where it was needed, the new one... can hardly move...

Pretty sure an Overlord wins in a race...

All Round of 8 matches if I recall correctly.

But yeah Blizzard dropped the ball with Protoss. The issue to deal with deathball prominence is to give a benefit for Protoss players that can split it up, not to just give units that are forced to be separate from the main army. If splitting your forces gives you better results, good players would adopt it. Considering the amount of strong, strong units the other races have, Protoss still have to deathball up just like in WoL.

That said the pros may figure some more streamlined builds and openers at some stage. I'm not confident, but I'm hopeful that something will be in the works

The old core looked pretty good as a kind of auxillary macro caster/structure, kind of like a weird Protoss Queen. Its abilities are nerfed to the ground at the minute, as Kim said I think because it was made to feel'more of a unit'. They had to tone its defensive cannon down because it was used in big all-ins in close air positions and the likes.

Haha so Warhounds excel at harassing too... I don't think there is any unit that has excelled in so many roles and simply been so just imbalanced.
