You need something ridicolous like 6/7 chronnoboosted stargates to pump enogh Carriers to make a considerably impact on the field. Carriers, at least in SC2, are just boring a-move game ending units (the best micro you could do with them is pulling out the weaken ones, just like the Warhound). They have a lot of beautiful sounds and lasers, but it's only that. Tempest IMO desgin wise are just better. They are more tatical. They deal better with late game scenarios. Targete fire is really important to them. Just make 4/5 of them to snipe key unit like infestors and broodlords. Fuck, the only cool thing about carriers are they are cool. Even in BW they were gimmick and they didn't add too much depth in the game. Stop trying to "save" a unit like that. Worst than that are Toss players asking for the removal of the Warpgate/Sentries for more stronger gateway units. Fuck that, you just want an more a-move friendly army instead of a micro requiring one. That's ridiculous. Lol the point was not to say that I want carriers to replace tempests. The point was to illustrate that a unit that Blizzard thinks has no place (the carrier), would have been infinitely more useful than the tempest in that scenario. I know carriers take longer to build than tempests, but that is just because Blizzard never tried to make them viable them. And even with their current stupidly long build time, having 4 carriers there would have been better than the 9 tempests were. The idea of the Tempest is fine, but the way they designed the unit is stupid, because it is not a capital ship. As I have been saying, a unit that merely annoys an opponent and pokes them is not fit to be a capital ship costing 300/300 and 6 supply. Instead they should shrink down the model and make it a normal stargate unit. Then give toss an actual capital ship.

The good news is Blizzard's looking into that now apparently so hopefully the next patch will give us something to get excited about.

Also pretty funny that he claimed they were a gimmick in BW. Totally core and viable unit in late game PvT, guess it is a gimmick. Super interesting micro and unique usage in the other matchups. Yeah no depth lol

Good point, but you're the one saying that it's protoss who want a-move units instead of micro-oriented ones. Seems your suggestion was aimed at the wrong race

So far haven't seen many use of the HoTS units. I kinda was looking forward to a really dynamic HoTS tournament...and as it stands now (before TT1 and Catz play) it's been pretty lackluster. I don't blame the organization, but the players. This could have been much more interesting. The Beta has only been out for a week now. Most of the new units aren't until late game. It takes time for units to fill and secure a role. I'm not at all disappointed; I'd rather watch this type of game than having players just massing the new units and attacking and hoping to come out on top. I have to retract my previous statement. Catz is just a cheese. Might as well have invited CombatEX to this tournament.

Anyone using strategies based around the new units are essentially gambling, as the metagame on how to use them correctly just isn't there yet.
