That certainly looked like a Beta game lol. I'm pretty much getting flashbacks of HDH invitational (some sort of... quad gate rush?). Cool seeing strategies implemented.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

Pretty much nope. They were so much costly and more build time requiring. You need something ridicolous like 6/7 chronnoboosted stargates to pump enogh Carriers to make a considerably impact on the field.

I know carriers take longer to build than tempests, but that is just because Blizzard never tried to make them viable them. And even with their current stupidly long build time, having 4 carriers there would have been better than the 9 tempests were.

The idea of the Tempest is fine, but the way they designed the unit is stupid, because it is not a capital ship. As I have been saying, a unit that merely annoys an opponent and pokes them is not fit to be a capital ship costing 300/300 and 6 supply. Instead they should shrink down the model and make it a normal stargate unit. Then give toss an actual capital ship.

Agreed. The good news is Blizzard's looking into that now apparently so hopefully the next patch will give us something to get excited about.

+1, Four carriers would have still outdpsed the tempests by quite a bit anyways.
Also pretty funny that he claimed they were a gimmick in BW. Totally core and viable unit in late game PvT, guess it is a gimmick. Super interesting micro and unique usage in the other matchups. Yeah no depth lol

Yeah, not like Warhounds that a-kill everything or swarm hosts that don't even require a-moving cause they kill stuff by just standing still burrowed. Pathetic.


Tanks kill stuff by themselves. But you have to positioning/set/etc. You can increase Swarmhost efficiency setting better path to the locusts to reduce AoE.


Good point, but you're the one saying that it's protoss who want a-move units instead of micro-oriented ones. Seems your suggestion was aimed at the wrong race

So I just want to say first off thanks for hosting this tournament. I've enjoyed the casting so far. However, I'm disappointed in the players. So far haven't seen many use of the HoTS units. I kinda was looking forward to a really dynamic HoTS tournament...and as it stands now (before TT1 and Catz play) it's been pretty lackluster. I don't blame the organization, but the players. This could have been much more interesting.

The Beta has only been out for a week now. Most of the new units aren't until late game. It takes time for units to fill and secure a role. I'm not at all disappointed; I'd rather watch this type of game than having players just massing the new units and attacking and hoping to come out on top.

I have to retract my previous statement. Catz is just a cheese. Might as well have invited CombatEX to this tournament.

Its still really early in the beta and there's 2000 dollars on the line. These guys wanna win.

Anyone using strategies based around the new units are essentially gambling, as the metagame on how to use them correctly just isn't there yet.
