i have a theory:
since the xel'naga can't reproduce normally, the only way the can come back at the end of the story is:
Kerrigan secretly have the 'hots' for zeratul, and tries to mate with him, but only to discover that between his legs is a 'void', they fail and everyone dies [thus the legacy of the void].

Haha that's pretty funny but it actually also got me wondering about the title of the second expansion.
Legacy of the Void.
As you may know, the Dark Templars use the void as the source of their power. I'm guessing that the second expansion will deal with either the Dark Templar's history and how it majorly impacts the main storyline or the storyline will tell the rise to power of the Dark Templars.
Another clue the title is giving comes up when you think of the Swarm. Supposedly the swarm uses the void as it's power source as well which is why a Dark Templar was needed to kill a cerebrate without the possibility of reincarnation. With this piece I'm thinking the second expansion might deal with some type of relationship of the Dark Templars and The Swarm (both being 'members' of the Void.
I'm starting to think that the 'original' protoss (non Dark Templar) will die out or become fully assimilated into a new society.

Legacy of the Void might have to deal with Ulrezaj, the crazed dark archon from the books. He's on a quest to kill a the preservers of the Protoss. I imagine he'll become a minor antagonist of some sort.

I sooo badly wanna play the campign for hots anyone have an idea of what the side mission race will be (if they chose to have a side race mission in hots) like for WOL it was toss (fit the story but it wasnt the race of the next expansion) letting me believe that if they have a side mission it will probaby be terran, also kinda fits with kerrigan being so focused with mengsk

The Dark Voice is connected to and came from The Void, as well.

If any side mission race i guess terran have the more logic sense. Protoss never seem to have much wish to help / interact with kerrigan.
but with high probability raynor will still be part of the storyline. so a few missions playing as raynor would not be very far fetched

in the trailer there are a few frames that depcit a battlecruiser bitching around some sort of satellite... the bc is blue i think and the station is red, which means there are 2 different players... of course it could be allies, but maybe it's the hyperion you play

The sad thing is that I could see Blizzard pulling a stunt like this.

i hope not, i hate it when sci.fi merges with fantasy.... bitch, plz a bit of realism isn't bad

hmmm wasnt there a q&a thing recently i didnt listen to it, i would have thought that blizzard would reveal something about HOTS but from little bits of information it doesnt seem much to do with sc2 more of the likes of wow and D3 now i dont mind those two games (i enjoy D3 more than wow and 100% will play it when it comes out) but i really want some HOTS info this forum was so full of life when the trailer came out, now theres nothing btw i'm not sure if some of u will remember this but i remeber there being a video from blizzard with like this infested bunker which turned into a kinda zerg-dino thing i'm pretty sure thats not going to be in mutilplayer but what do u guys think about single, or was that just a blizzard trolling video

Nah. This doesn't make sense even if they could merge. Why would 2 benevolent and courageous beings turn into a menacing and deceptive one? I believe the Dark Voice already existed when both Tassadar and the Overmind were alive and hadn't made itself known yet.

They host a preview in May and then tell the same things in October, with a few extras so small you'd need a microscope to notice them.

I hope they don´t borrow so heavily from the books. As I see it, the books are cash-in side stories. This is supposed to be about video games, not the culmination of all the novels.
Heart of the Swarm will most likely be the typical second act. Kerrigan will set out for her vengeance, then we get introduced to the bigger picture. The Dark Voice/Hybrids will be making moves, becoming too big a threat to ignore and Raynor will get involved somehow so Kerrigan has to let Mengsk run off again. She was basically the center of the WoL campaign. Most likely she will be out hunting Mengsk and get sidetracked with more imminent problems, which will either be related to the growing danger of Hybrids, vengeful Protoss or Raynor getting himself into trouble. In the end she will be forced to choose a side, either against or for the dark voice(obviously she will choose against). If she gets her vengeance on Mengsk at all, it will be either very minor(nonlethal) in comparison or it will lead directly to escalation of problems she could have prevented had she not neglected it. That´s at least what I hope for. If we get another WoL style campaign without any linear story telling, I foresee a lot of irrelevant Tosh/Hanson side missions after the intro and a very abrupt turn to the final 3 missions *again*.
I just hope they don´t pull any bullshit with the background, like the Dark Voice being Kerrigans father. The best hypothesis so far is imho that the Xel'naga made the Protoss and Zerg as 2 halves of the xel'naga race, giving meaning to the whole hybridizing as the preplanned rebirth of the Xel'naga. I just kinda doubt that the writers thought this all the way through and instead thought it would be kinda cool/edgy/horrifying to have alien races combined. Right now hybrids seem to be few more than bipedal, talking zergs. Also they are more evil than the zerg by default...

I just wanna see a fucken xelnaga ever since sc2 was anounced i wanted to see the xelnaga and with zerutal saying "they will return to end universe" (i know those arent the exact words but he said something along those lines)
I was hoping for it in WOL but i'm wrong hopefully we will at least get a real glimpse in HOTS and a full reveal in LOTV casue thats where i think they will belong (after going through the camp) but i really hope they dont look really dumb and retarded, casue for god sakes they are meant to be "GODS" i dont care if they look a bit cliche to protoss but as long as they look coool really hope blizzard dont fuck this up

maybe them just being this vague all powerful entity is for the best

Agreed here... is there actually anyone around that doesnt like Kerrigan leading the swarm? I allways felt like the loss of the Overmind was huge and that Kerrigan was a bad replacement as leader.
On topic I really hope they get a good story going basing a whole campaign around Raynor leading the terrans kinda didnt work out for me at all since Raynor never seemed to be the leader he should have been in WoL. Read some books where it was sure he was a good leader but in WoL that was not to be seen.

So far the books (specifically the dark templar saga) have actually been pretty canon. Selendis and the Protoss heroes in sc2 were introduced in the books.
It sounds like sc2 will use the same ideas of the Xel Naga that are the same as in the books. It was said that the Zerg and Protoss will naturally combine to form the new Xel Naga. Though they seem to imply that this is NOT the hybrids. Rather the hybrids are some twisted monstrosity created by someone else. They left it pretty ambiguous though.
Plus the books were pretty cool, and introduced an evil massive dark archon Ulrezaj. I don't expect him to appear until the third installment.

I could be wrong of course but I doubt Ulrezaj will be playing a major role in SC2... allthough it would be hilarious if it turns out he is the dark voice^^
