Thanks so much for all the info Stebo. Can't wait for HotS.
But one thing wasn't very clear to me.
There was no Leviathan on Char nor in the possesion of Kerrigan or Za'Gara
What do you mean? I thought you were always inside the Leviathan between missions.
Were do you talk to Za'Gara after mission? In Char's ashy ground? Does she goes with you to Kaldir?
Durring the demo I felt that Lassara was touching the empathy and humanity inside Kerrigan, like an angel on Kerrigan's shoulder (similar to Hanson on Raynor's shoulder). Cool. Seem they found their way to give Kerrigan good NPCs to talk with... the "evil scientist", old school zerg Abathur, the zombified mirror of herselg Ishza/Amanda Haley, the rebellous Za'Gara and tbe empathic Lassara.
It's also funny that I remember Kerrigan saying, in the videos, after cleansing the Protoss base in Silent Their Cries: "leave no survivors". Then she spares the survivors. ^^
Stebo, let us suck every mililiter of information from you. How was Kerrigan micro? The Zerg evolutions seem to be stronger than Armory upgrades, what about them?

While playing the demo, I don't remember Kerrigan or anyone refrencing the Leviathan. I thought they were all dead or M.I.A... Maybe I missed something? I just assumed that Kerrigan and her brood(s) were transporting via Behemoth inbetween each mission.
On January 12 2012 21:07 nerak wrote:Were do you talk to Za'Gara after mission? In Char's ashy ground? Does she goes with you to Kaldir? After completing the Char mission Za'Gara's NPC can be found at the 'bridge' of the Hive, just like how Matt Horner's NPC was always at the bridge of the Hyperion. Typically Za'Gara would give strategic advice before each mission (if you clicked on her).

Kerrigan was pretty fun and simple to use. Kerrigan, being incredibly useful with her gifted abilities, almost makes it feel like I'm playing Warcraft 3. Just like in WC3, the heros such as Arthas or Illidan played a great role in battles or skirmishes.
As for the Zerg evolutions, they are just as strong at the Armory upgrades in WoL. One thing I noticed though was that each Zerg unit had two upgrades to chose from, either A or B. It appeared that you couldn't get both, like in WoL (Marine's upgrading Stim and Combat Shields). Keep in mind though that this may be subject to change at the final release of HotS.

I am so incredibly jealous of everyone who has tried the demo. Damn you.
Okay, speculation time. I watched the ending cinematic to the original SC, and noticed how Tassadar opens some sort of hole. Considering he's using the powers of the Void, could he be opening it or something? Did he release Duran, the Dark Voice, or something else? We were sent specifically to the Overmind's dead body in SC2, meeting both it and Tassadar, and was given the vision of the future apocalypse, so the site is significant to the sequel.
Thoughts?

Guys guys, you're all wrong!!!!!!
You're all missing one huge factor, Warcraft 3!
Now let me explain. First of all, Warcraft and Starcraft. Pretty similar names. Why would a company create two RTS games with so similar names without connecting them!?
Okay basically Warcraft just takes place way before Starcraft begins, but that does not mean Warcraft won't have an impact. You should ignore World of Warcraft, and follow the original lore, and if they do make a Warcraft 4 I can assure you it will follow up from where Warcraft 3 TFT ended and shit on the WoW Lore, because basically its all rubbish.
Now, considerding the huge time gap between Warcraft and Starcraft, and Blizzard not wanting to make it obvious, you can't expect the same names and terms being used.
Xel'Naga = Titans
Do I even need to explain this? Both being able to create everything.
The Dark Voice = Sargeras
Well at first I thought it would be Kil'Jaeden, but after all the Xel'Naga stuff and I realised they where the titans, it was obvious who the dark voice was, especially considering people always talk of the dark voice as a fallen one, a fallen xel'naga.
If you dont know your Warcraft lore, read: + Show Spoiler +"Sargeras has changed over the millennia. While he once served his race as guardian and protector, he is now the titans' worst enemy. Sargeras works to undo what the titans have strived for ages to achieve. He is now the master of all that is evil and demonic. Lesser beings quake and flee in his presence"
If that's not enough: + Show Spoiler +"Shaken by the evil of demons in general and the nathrezim in particular, Sargeras began to despair of his task and gradually slipped into a brooding depression. As doubt and despair overwhelmed Sargeras's senses, he lost all faith not only in his mission, but also in the titans' vision of an ordered universe. Eventually, he came to believe that the concept of order itself was folly, and that chaos and depravity were the only absolutes within the dark, lonely universe. His fellow titans tried to make Sargeras realize his erroneous way of thinking and calm his raging emotions, but he disregarded their more optimistic beliefs as self-serving delusions. Storming from their ranks forever, Sargeras set out to find his own place in the universe. Although the Pantheon was sorrowful at his departure, the titans could never have predicted just how far their lost brother would go"
Still not convinced?: + Show Spoiler +Sargeras roamed the Twisting Nether, freeing the many demon races that he had previously hunted down and imprisoned. He became known as the "great, dark god of the Nameless Void". He bound the newly released demons to his will and used them to construct an army of massive proportions — one that eventually became known as the Burning Legion. These cunning creatures bowed before the dark titan's vast rage and offered to serve him in whatever malicious ways they could. However, among the various beings who served him, none of them had the natural cunning and power to act as commanders and tacticians for his new army, so Sargeras looked about for a race who would serve as his favored agents in exchange for horrific power
Well well. "great, dark god of the Nameless Void".
And I think you should read this too: + Show Spoiler +"On the planet Argus, Sargeras found the agents he sought — the eredar, a race of highly intelligent beings with a natural affinity for magic in all its myriad forms. Sargeras appeared to the eredar's three greatest leaders, namely Kil'jaeden, Archimonde, and Velen, and made his offer: untold power and prestige in exchange for their allegiance. Though Velen had doubts, Kil'jaeden and Archimonde readily agreed. Velen and his followers fled, becoming the draenei. The remainder of the eredar embraced the darkness and became the stuff of nightmares: the man'ari eredar."
Oh and if you keep doubting, please keep this in mind, that Sargeras is referenced as "The Fallen".
Protoss = Draenei?
Have you ever played Warcraft? Or WoW for that matter? I only use WoW in this case, because if you played draenei you know how much their architecture and stuff actually could remind you of the protoss, and besides that they look a little alike, especially considering the huge time difference between them. (In this case, I am talking by the draenei used in Warcraft, not WoW, because they changed them quite a bit).
But really, go play Warcraft 3 and you will see it for yourself.
Duran = Medivh? /Deadwing
I am not really certain of this, as their motives doesn't really seem alike, but I still think there is a connection. But we should always keep in mind that Deadwing can transform himself too and he used other names too, which kinda backs Duran's statement about names up.
But for now I will go for Medivh, because then we can connect him to Sargeras/The Dark Voice.
+ Show Spoiler +"Magus or Magna ,Medivh was the last Guardian of Tirisfal, an ancient line of protectors bestowed with great powers to do battle with the agents of the Burning Legion. He was corrupted even before birth, and possessed by the spirit of the demonlord Sargeras who used Medivh in his plan to conquer Azeroth"
Alright now we have the connection with Sargeras/The Dark Voice, although if you know the Warcraft lore, Medivh gets killed, and ends up as a prophet thingie that helps the mortal races.
"+ Show Spoiler +Shortly before the beginning of the Third War, Medivh returned as a mysterious prophet, manipulating events in order to arrange the formation of a last-ditch alliance between the mortal races on Kalimdor, guiding them to victory at the Battle of Mount Hyjal The prophet's name means "keeper of secrets" in Thalassian"
So lets assume Medivh is Duran, I am not sure what his role is. Is he against Sargeras or with him, thats the question. Other worthy mentions is the resemblance between some of the old gods/semi gods and the overmind.
I do realise all this speculation lacks some proper evidence, but I am always right, even though they might not tell it directly in the SC2 expansions, it is of course still true!
If I should be wrong, however everyone doubts that, let me give you a hint: Protoss are hybrids themselves.

@eurTsItniH - I've played Warcraft 3 for the past 6 years, and I've beaten the campaign more times than I can remember (I've never played WoW). You're theory that SC2 and WC3 are connected is completely unorthodox. Blizzard has stated though that all their games (Diablo, Warcraft & Starcraft) are, in some ways, present in the same universe with each other (which is why they joke about a Tauren Marine, Murloc Marine, etc.) Whether this is canon or just a simple joke is unsure to the Blizzard community.
Blizzard has also stated (several times) that they like to 'borrow' elements of their games and put them into their other games; There are literally countless references in each of their games that somehow relate to one of their other games. For example, have you ever stopped and noticed that Sarah Kerrigan and Prince Arthas share a similar fate? Blizzard likes to reuse and recycle ideas into their games, not because their cheap or that their games are somehow connected, but because that is just their style. To them it is almost like an on going joke that they like to implement into their stories, gameplay and characters.
|
What if Blizzard went OD and added all these elements so that in the protoss expansion they could add a fourth race to the game o.O that would be genius

@Stebo
You shouldn't really take my post serious, but might wanna keep it in mind when reading some of the posts here. People should be careful trying too hard, because while there are some very good and interesting points, some of them are just way too forced.
|
@eurTsItniH - Haha it's just that you're not the first person to conjure up a topic like this and for those who took it seriously were apeshit crazy.
|
@stebo
Oh I see hehe, just googled around and I realise that a lot of people actually had the same thoughts. Actually thats pretty interesting somehow.
Either way I hope blizzard doesn't screw this up, and definitely makes up for the WoL. Don't get it wrong though, I thought WoL was decent but still lacking a lot overall.

Does anyone still remember the "release schedule"? Lol, it is already outdated by now.

Okay, I found a tiny detail. Look at this picture:
![[image loading]](http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5148/74923449.png)
I first thought it was an installation, but the drop pods is a giveaway we might be on the roof somewhere. If you see the trailer, you also see this...
![[image loading]](http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3583/roof01.png)
...and this...
Same place? The drop pods are red in both cases.
|
@Dante.StarCraft
I can't see your third picture!
edit: Nevermind, I see it now. And they do indeed look similar.
|
@Dante: I had noticed his same thing when I first saw the trailer. I decided not to add it to my thread because, well, it's not relevant to anything. The drop pods are landing but I have no clue what's happening during that scene.
|
I had noticed that Kerrigan was not inside an installation, but outside an installation or the Hyperion.
But I hadn't noticed that the drop pods in the cinematics are red too! Good point... Do you remember Kachynski walking in a corridor when something explodes? Maybe it all happens in the same event. Makes sense, maybe the first mission is, "defend Hyperion/Moebius from Dominion assault force". No drones or base building in the first mission... just like Warcraft 3. Maybe eurTsItniH is right

Yes, I do. If you go here, you'll find a pic-by-pic analysis of the trailer by yours truly, including that moment you mention.
I'll repost this, which is a video showing some of the environment in HOTS.

That was a great post, btw. I recommend the video too. Including the Q&A - they intend to do the game look better, with less requirements.
More images, then:
![[image loading]](http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/7141/hots01.png)
Here we have those sacs, that already appeared in WoL, landing in another planet. Kerrigan just landed with them. But what are those structures that I highlighted? I've never seem them in WoL.
Also, the rest of the landscape is also painted with creep. Is it a mass landing (unlike the one of Kaldir) or is Sarah landing in a Zerg-occupied planet?
![[image loading]](http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/553/hots02.png)
Dante already posted this image earlier. This is where the randomly queen kills a lyote. There are another species of critter there, too; maybe the zerg are there to gather DNA? Could it be a Protoss "zoo"? I know it sounds stupid, but kind fits in the " Stewardship" philosophy.
BTW, what is that thing in the bottom cell? One of the critters?
![[image loading]](http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/5473/hots03.png)
Ok, I don't believe anyone missed this one. But when does it happen? Just after the mission where Kerrigan (presumably) defends the Hyperion of the drops and ghosts? Does the defense fail, and Kerrigan says "screw you guys, I'm going home". Well, but the dropship is not going to Char...
I like the way the trailer confuses more than explains.
|
|
There is no knowing what scene that dropship takes place from, or who is on it. The HotS demo made no reference to that scene.
|
i'm gettin more and more disinterested in hots....
