Assume you have both available and there both fully upgraded. Which is the best healer. I haven't done the numbers, but can only imagine that the medi-vac healing two targets is greater then the efficiency of the medic upgrade. Only down fall is the Medi-vac can be targeted by AtA and turrets.

Im asking because my next play through i intend to got MM G Healer.

Medic imo. They are easy to produce and cost half the gas of Medivacs. Medics also benefit from bio armor upgrades (which you will want on higher difficulty anyway when running bio). Then again, medivacs are also dropships, so if you find that very useful in the campaign, all the more power to you I guess. As far as healing capabilities, Both heal 3 hp per 1 energy. Medics can upgrade to heal 25% more for 33% less energy, whereas Medivacs can upgrade 2 units at once. Personally I found with the double heal that my medivacs ran out of energy after a decent amount of pure bio play.
I'm going to sleep, let me get some of that carpet.

I think most BW types stuck with marine medic as it was what they were used to. I Personally used the medic on my brutal playthrough. I shares upgrades (at least armor) and I didn't find that drops were generally neccesary on singleplayer. Also medicvacs are a slighlty higher apm sink... not much but can be noticable to many players.

With the availability of the awesome hercules I saw no reason to build medivacs. Medics are much easier to build in sufficient numbers to keep the army at a state of constant stimming.

Most SP missions don't really allow you to leverage Medivacs' mobility.

Medics have slightly superior heal rate per gas (100 gas is 2 Medics, or 8 hitpoints per heal, compared to 1 Medivac, which heals 6 hitpoints per heal).

Medics have significantly faster build time (25 sec vs 42 sec, and you can produce 2 at once).

Medivacs are more durable per gas, at 150 hitpoints per 100 gas compared to 120 hitpoints per 100 gas.

Medics are small ground infantry, while Medivacs are medium aircraft with drop capability. They are built from different structures, require different prerequisites, and benefit from different upgrades.

On a whole I find Medics superior in the most important respects, though Medivacs' mileage may vary depending on the situation at hand.

Ok Thx Guys. I think ill go with Medics in my Maruader Ghost Medics Build. In terms of Ghost vs Spectres I think ill go with ghost for the range upgrade. What are your thoughts on that.

I found with medivacs I would lose them more easily by making some micro mistake and letting them fly ahead of the army. The medics in SC2 are very good in staying clumped with the bio army.

I never found a use for Ghosts/Spectres by the time you get them, same with the Hercules/Predator. You can clean up all those missions with bio/mech/air, I never really needed most specialty units (though the Science Vessels are still very handy).

I agree that the Science vessel is handy, almost makes the Campaign easy mode when you have them with air.

But you can focus on getting the Ghost early. This is more of a "i played the campaign 100 times and want to try some different" thing.

I REALLY like medic because they have instant availability and:

ARMOR 1! (vs. marine 0)
They "tank" for the marines and can be healed by other medics. I played through the brutal campaign without upgrades or research from Hyperion (except last mission which is imba). On many occasions this marine medic (+some marauder) combo dominated and saved me a lot of attempts because it worked just beautifully.

With all honesty, I can't really compare against medi-vac though, since I kind of dislike them by default as they don't seem as nice as the good old infantry pushes. And for the campaign, medics win the game so...

Medic all the way. Medivac are weaker because of upgrades, heal rate and are easily focus by Anti-air unit like corruptor or something else. Whereas medic suit marine and act as meat shield with their life + armor

Medics are better because they heal for more. That 25% increase is insane, Marauders and Firebats become practically invincible.

Medivac can act as a dropship and heal 2 units at a time, but it's more expensive and I'd rather pump Vikings/Banshees out of my starports.

Medivacs are better if you're going mass reaper. That's actually why they were designed.

medivacs have that upgrade that allows you do heal 2 units at one time which means it has more HPS than a medic. however a medic can be made easier because it requires less tech and it uses less energy per heal so it's more efficient.

You guys forgot one thing : a medic never dies because she is healed by other medics too. Medivac can be sniped, medic cannot (or not worth sniping).

Yeah but medics are half the price so for their cost they heal much faster even assuming both have upgrades.
