protoss tech vs zerg tech (slight spoiler?)

so i just got too the part where i can get some tech uppgrades and when i look at them, it seems protoss tech is crazy strong compared too the zerg tech that dosent even seem to be worth getting, any else feel this is kinda strange?

That sounds about right. You'll get more of the Zerg tech somewhat early, you won't unlock much of the Protoss tech until later.

If you have time and could be so generous, could you post all of the Protoss tech tree upgrades?

I still have a few hours before I can start playing the campaign, and would like to take the time to start figuring out which ones I want to aim for

I don't have time to post all of them. But protoss has stuff like
+ Show Spoiler +
- Build 2 scvs at the same time
- Supply depos are built instantly
- Barracks units now drop from pods instead of being rallied
- vespene gysers mine automatically once refinarys are built on them


zerg has stuff like
+ Show Spoiler +
-planatary fortress unlocked
- vespene collected increased by 25%
- new unit that looks like a jaguar does splash melee
- new unit that is like an enhanced drop ship (think 20 marines)

I agree protoss tech looks alot better

I was wondering what that depot icon was in Blizz's screenshot, thanks.

Geyserys mining automatically sounds awesome, since it allows you to double cap the refineries right at the start of the game and get a huge gas economy when you normally would have to wait a while before you have enough SCVs to mine that. Also, do the refineries need to have a CC nearby? Might be worth it to go cap the refineries at the natural expansion and get 4x gas right at the start! Even better if you can combo it with the +25% gas from geysers in the Zerg tree. Mmm sexy, get a huge tank army to slaughter infinite numbers of Brutal difficulty ground forces :D

It depends the 25% gas might be better if you like to tech but the protoss thing would probably be better if u like slow teching-making alot of T1 or expanding...

I actuallly wanted to start a topic about researching in the campaign... The thing that cought my eye the most is the Protoss level 15 research:

Automated refinery:
Refinery no longer requires SCVs to harvest vespene gas

CC Reactor:
Allows two SCVs to be trained simultaneously

It's a interesting choice... I guess that the automated refinery is more usefull since it saves you supply and money... But I don't know...

For people who still don't have the game, aren't yet that far in the campaign or are just plain curious, here is a (very big) screenshot @ tinypic

Man I LOVE the protoss upgrades - for the guy that asked:

Tier 1 = Extra 5% attack rate when upgrading weapons OR 5% extra life when upgrading armor

Tier 2 = Supply depots build instantly OR refineries mine 25% faster

Tier 3 = refineries don't require workers OR command centres can train 2 SCVs at once

Tier 4 = you learn how to build Ravens OR Science vessels (which will auto repair mech units instead of having EMP like in SC1)

Tier 5 = Techlab and Reactor are combined in one addon OR barracks units instantly arrive at rally point via drop pods


So far I've gone with the left side up to Tier 3, I love the instant supply depots, the no-scv refineries are amazing.

Tier 5 toss is so sick. A little bit hard to decide but I think ill go for droppods because you can just built more barracks but terran drop pots(barracks warp in ?) sounds awsome).

Just a quick note regarding Zerg tech tier 4 (minor spoiler):

If you're up to zerg tier four - get the dropship, not the predator. The predator absolutely sucks balls, I totally regret getting it as there are a couple of missions where the massive dropship would have been incredibly useful, on the other hand the predator is totally inferior to both firebats and hellions for dealing with infantry.

Tier 3 toss - workerless refineries dominates CC reactor because you can put down refineries anywhere, regardless of if you have a CC nearby. Basically you never have to worry about gas ever again, and it saves you 150 mins per geyser.
