I think this has been talked to death already, but it only now struck me that Lamine Yamal is 17 years old. I thought he's somewhere approaching 20 and looking like a generational talent. 17 year is pretty much supposed to have their coordination figured out after the growth spurt, not dribbling through La Liga level midfields.

since we don't have an active football manager thread anymore, news just broke that fm25 is cancelled, which is of no surprise given the radio silence from sports interactive since the first delay in november.

Oh those forums must be amazing right now. Might be a window for some competitors to grow and force FMs hand on improvements.

Kinda sad to see Endo just playing cup matches.
He should move somewhere where he gets to be first name on the team sheet

Aye he’s a good player, can see him excelling elsewhere for sure. It doesn’t help that Slott seems to like his midfielders to be good all-rounders and do a job at 6 rather than a lover of a specialist there.

Embarrassing that was from Slot, total disrespect, he hasn't done much wrong in his 9 months or whatever, but that was disgustingly bad!

They are a good team, but to play kids vs a championship side and have just like 2 senior players on bench is wild, he should win the league and has a good go in the cup vs Newcastle but that was an embarrassing way to go out to a very poor Plymouth side lol

I didn't watch much of the game but based on what happened, two key seniors were hurt/ill with Gomez leaving after 10 minutes and Jones being not fit/ready. Jones would've made the difference as Elliott dropping deep and not being a great progressive passer meant less service to the forwards.

While we can argue Slot was arrogant in his approach with regards to the squad selection, in reality the quality on the pitch should've been more than enough to beat Plymouth. Ultimately, most of the blame should go to the players. In the end, losing here isn't the biggest deal to me honestly because now we have critical breaks in March for our run in the EPL/UCL, which we would have prioritized heavily over the FA Cup anyways. It's give and take, and I'm also happy people can shut up about a quad charge now.

Plymouth might be at the bottom of the Championship but they are on the way up. Good new manager, players are really playing for him.
Those are tough teams for anyone to face. The Championship is no joke for a team made of bench players who aren't playing 90 minutes every week together.

Its really easy to underestimate what is needed to beat a side who have just discovered winning again and are confident, even if there's a big quality difference.

Well was a lot of kids on that pitch though is what i meant, surely the squad is not that small that you had to play random 18 year olds and its not like you could played stronger team, get 2-0 up and then sub people off, its only Everton in midweek not barca xD

Still just frustrating and im not even a fan, when a coach does that, the carebear cup means nothign compared to fa cup and he played his full 11 every game there it felt like lol

I think Slot took a bit of a gamble, but Everton, Wolves, Villa, City in the league are the priority now. I don't think you can play all the cups and not be at risk of either injuries or a loss, unless you have a much wider squad (like City had when they got the triple). Liverpool B is a lot weaker, even without accounting for rhythm and time on the pitch together.

I dont think too many criticise his B starting eleven. My problem with the whole thing is not having his best team on the bench...

It’s the FA Cup, didn’t save van Gaal or ten Haag, mid-table, safe Prem teams frequently sack it off as well. And those teams are probably best-placed, not in contention elsewhere, not at risk of relegation.

I mean it sucks don’t get me wrong, but it has been the direction of travel for a fair while now

I wonder if the big boys take the League Cup more seriously these days because of how it’s fixed in the calendar. It’s earlier, concludes earlier, fewer games and you can build momentum and get that confidence boost. Whereas the FA Cup comes later, and you’re adding games into the business end of the other competitions.

Its all good, maybe one of the teams who aren't traditionally top 6 can win it this season.

Forest haven't won an FA cup since the 1950s (Thanks to Roger fucking Milford - but that's a story for us old 'uns to reminisce about). We're now the highest ranked team left in it. Let's go Forest win yourselves some silverware!

I think we are going to see more of heavy rotation on the cups in general. UCL just added some extra games to an already topped up schedule this season. With City struggling, the PL title is up for grabs too and no domestic cup run is going to outshine even a good attempt at that.

Hey I’d love to see it, would also like to see Newcastle break their duck in the League Cup.

But it would mean that much more if it was a tournament everyone was busting a gut to win. Not being a curmudgeon or anything, just think it’s a shame
