We somehow managed to get Murillo to sign a new 4 year contract amid interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid etc. This guy is going to be an absolute superstar. Chris Wood signs for another 2 years too. Hopefully we can pick up another striker this window, because Awoniyi is unfortunately just not doing it at the moment. Cunha rumours as well as Wissa but I can't see either of those happening. | ||

Our legendary president was replaced when it became clear to everyone that a club achieving as much as ours could not possibly be in trouble financially. AVB came in as president to provide more transparency and a solution to the clubs managing of its finances. First few months under him were terrible, every day or every week he would find another unpaid debt by the previous administration and he tried his best to prepare fans for a very rough few years. However, the team was still winning internally and we even get to top the league when sporting started to go down after amorim left. Now, forensic audit to the club's last 10 years has finished and the results show why the club is in dire straits financially. more than 50M € in overpaid commissions to internal agents (this might not sound too much for you guys in the big leagues, but it is absolutely bonkers for us), jewels, dinners, luxury vacation paid to previous board members, leaders and influential members of the main supporters collective (my kids left me sleep deprived cannot remember the word for this :D), plus their families obviously. Those same supporter groups get tickets from the club to sell within their ranks and then would return the ticks to the club and be refunded for those amounts AFTER they had already entered into the stadium with them...and so many more of these things. All the success and glory of the club the last 40/50 years has served to give a good life to a few individuals and their families. The club itself will take several years to be back on track, which is a shame. Players know this, want out and as soon as Jan transfer window opened, the results and games clearly show this. Coach has been fired (he was bad anyway but we dont have money for more) and now we are most likely out of EL even. Which is not bad per se if we manage to get 2nd or 3rd in the league based on that. Luckily for us, Sporting has dipped in form after amorim and benfica is still terrible so we are not yet thaaat far behind this year. | ||

we had a fucking open goal to sign him at the start of the window given our relationship with rosenborg and him being a lifelong united fan. it's not like they were asking for a large transfer fee as well that would prohibit the transfer. different faces, same shit. | ||

Ronaldo only makes sense as an impact player that can accept being on the bench regularly, in a team that overall works and creates a bunch of chances but can’t finish them. Although even in wretched form I’d still rather have Rashford in this United side than Ronaldo’s 3rd act. If there’s an elite European side (or one with pretensions of getting there) that carries a player who can’t run anymore, I’m not aware of them. Not taking away from his prior achievements but it’s been the case for a long while now. There’s still a player there, but I think a change of scene would benefit all. Even a Rashford at his best isn’t a natural fit in this system, and frankly I think he’s burned out in this talent-sucking vortex that is Man United. Not that he’s entirely blameless either, but we’ve seen years where players improving from what they’ve shown before or after United is the exception rather than the norm, and he’s been there the whole time. His wages are a huge stumbling block mind you. | ||

If United were creating a bunch of clear chances every game and fluffing their lines, yeah there’s maybe a case for a proven lethal finisher, but they’re aren’t doing that. He’ll still probably score goals, but the team will get worse. As we’ve seen to a degree at Juventus, more starkly at Man United and from his latter day Portugal career as well. | ||

One of the more consistent issues with United is that they keep bringing in players who do not have enough top tier career left to commit to the project United has going. Once things go sour and trophies start to slip away, these guys don't have much else to do than to collect the hefty paychecks. | ||
