I do wonder how Argentina ended up with such an iron like grip on the actions of every single referee in the world. It'd be nice to hear exactly how they did it. Because otherwise I'll just blame the cognitive dissonance of the people watching.

The progress is very slow. The extra Ro32 really gives a wrong expression about what is happening in the tournament. With the 8-best-3rds advancing from the group stage, it pretty much felt random to me. But Ro16 and Ro8 is more or less how it has been for the last few decades. Egypt just imploded, that was sad to watch. Disallowing the goal for a foul that happened 30 seconds earlier feels wrong to me, but I can understand the other side of the argument. Still, when you are up 2-0 after 78 minutes, you cannot blame anyone but yourself.

Not saying mistakes haven’t been made but why would FIFA instruct referees to specifically help Argentina? Brazil are a bigger South American nation numbers wise. If it’s a matter of preserving the biggest nations, or best teams overall so they don’t exit early, plenty of good European sides have had decisions go against them. This kind of shit is just utterly tiresome.

It is probably bollocks but still this WC is the one with so many obvious mistakes and they all leave a sour taste, especially when goals were disallowed when in another game the same doesnt happen....also it both times benefits one team. Or when presidents of some countries can interefere and make FIFA suspend red cards because of personal favours. Still a good performance in the last 20 minutes from Argentina and they have enough class to make such comebacks, so they deserve to advance.

Eh, Egypt were pretty lucky to find themselves up by 2, keeper made some wonders in the first half and they were way behind in every other metric. Senegal's loss was much worse, they were genuinely better than Belgium and just lost their heads for 2mins. It's also a shame the African qualifiers are so early and unforgiving and caught Nigeria out of form, they're better than half the CAF teams that made it.

They can’t be worse than the referee vs Paraguay, + Morroco don’t play as aggro / cheating as Paraguay or Argentina iirc?

Do you suspect them of being pro-France? Or pro-Morocco? Or just whatever the outcome is, that was what the Infantinati wanted to happen?
