Also, not sure if it was posted here, but Nibali broke his collarbone in the crash yesterday in the men's road race (the likely to be winner if not for the crash). edit: And Henao with a fracture to his iliac crest, and Porte fractured shoulder. So many injuries.

Two in really good form lifters, should be good to see the C&J, might see another WR attempt there. So many injuries. From what I heard from the commentator the cycling race is way to dangerous, probably to make a better show for the spectator.

Blind corners in the downhill? My impression was that people were just pushing quite hard, and it's what happens. Definitely an unforgiving descent in this course, but the Tour de France is the same way, it's just people stay in a group and go slower in descents since that time will just be made back on the flats. I only watched the last 15km of the women's race, I watched the last 90km of the men's race though.

One of the things they were talking about was portion of cobbled street(don't know if it is the right word, like the old roman street). It broke a good number of bikes.

Yeah, cobbled portions occur every now and then in the Grand Tours, and several other Classics. I haven't heard people complaining about the race being too difficult before the race. I just think for once it wasn't some flat boring TdF stage equivalent, and they tried to actually make the difficulty on par to the value of the event - which I thought they did quite well.

Similar situations exist during stuff like the TdF but cyclists are a lot more risk aware because there is a lot less on the line at that exact moment and they can afford to descent a little bit slower for safety.

China went out, didn't lock out her elbow properly, even though she lifted it, so she received two red lights and lift didn't count. China decided to go higher so she wouldn't have to go next, but Taiwan raised her, so she had to go, and now instead of having 2 minutes, she only had 1 to rest. So China is like, I need rest, gonna raise by 1kg, and then Taiwan did the same thing. So in essence, got no more rest, yet had to do more weight. And then she was at a weight so high that she couldn't do at all... Even though she just got the OR at the snatch, and didn't receive even a medal.
