Hopefully Dallas is smart enough to counsel him and convince him to retire, but we're talking about an organization run by Jerry Jones. Feel bad for him though. As funny as it is that he is a fools gold pro football player, he shouldn't further threaten his long term health for the sport.
I can't believe people that are always saying stuff like "he's a fools gold football player" Romo, when healthy, is a top10 QB. Say what you want about his playoff wins, but as a QB he is one of the better ones.

idc if you talk about other leagues in here. Just doesnt seem to be very much interest outside the NFL on TL outside maybe like 5 college games a year

Well the fact that Tony really is trash in the playoffs may be exactly where the "fools gold" part comes in. Statistically he's very good, but I think he shown enough times in his career that he might not be exactly who you want in crunch time.

Didn't really bring up the ambiguous "clutch" term at all. Obviously this discussion has been a perennial thing for many years now so it's not really worth talking about. Let's just say, despite his very good career statistics, he's not a QB I'd really think has the ability to carry his team to a Super Bowl victory. Perhaps not a fair assessment, but in the end he has essentially no playoffs success at all over a decade... but does have a collection of fun disasters and fuck ups under his belt.

Also, its pretty clear that the playoffs are a shitshow. Peyton Manning has essentially the same (defense adjusted) stats as Tom Brady, but one has made 6 (4-2) and one has made 4 (2-2) Super bowls, and one is a winner, while the other is not clutch. Joe Flacco vs. Tony Romo might be the ultimate in this comparison at the moment.

Off the top of my head I can't think of the last time a QB really carried his team to/in the SB.

The Romo hate is incredibly unjust. This statement right here has been true for quite awhile.

In a wide note this is only half true of Russel Wilson who played awful in the super bowl 2 years ago finished the game with a end zone pick took 0 flack. Dude is made of Teflon when it domes to critism
The only reason he didn't receive the same criticism that Cam got last year for pussying out on a fumble is because it was a bad play to call to begin with. Sure, Wilson could have not thrown an interception, but if they had given the rock to Lynch that power wouldn't have been in his hands. Easier to blame Carroll than Wilson for that one. He had a 110 QB rating in the game, so I don't know that you could say he played awful.

lol so after the Redskins convince Stork not to retire after they traded for him, he failed the physical and the trade is negated anyway. Guess he's going to retire now
some other cuts of people I've heard of Rueben Randal was waived by the Eagles Terrance Knighton waived by the Patriots Mark Sanchez expected to be cut or traded within 24 hours

Also, he had already won a SB, which makes you a Teflon QB for years if you win a SB early on. Even Tom Brady, one of the best of all time, wasn't really that good of a quarterback until his 4th season, but the media was already parading him around as amazing because he had 2 rings.

I believe it was either the Drew Brees one or the Aaron Rodgers one, can't remember which came last. That was 5+ years ago.
For just playoffs, Joe Flacco submitted one of the best playoff runs by a QB in NFL history. He proved that sample sizes matter.

Sports media has trouble getting past first impressions. They write narratives full of hyperbole early on in a player's career and it's just impossible to change the narrative once it's written.

I'm still to this day, confused why Cam, willing to somersault over the line and take tackles mid-air in the midseason, wouldn't want to dive on a loose ball that's literally in front of him in the friggin Super Bowl.

Yay the Chargers/Bosa bullcrap is over!
And sure Romo might have some good playoff numbers despite a lack of overall success. That can be attributed to poor team dynamic or poor management. When Romo is playing and healthy, he is competitive and arguably top 10 in the NFL. But statistics aren't everything. Longevity and consistency make a player great throughout their respective career. While Romo could have maintained a strong presence within the league as a Top 10 QB talent, his career will be looked back upon primarily as one tarnished by injury and inconsistency, which is unfortunate, but also not unjustified.

Either: A) Shellshock. That was an abusive game. or B) He didn't think he could. Or he might not even have been able to.
I've never really gotten the criticism on Cam for that play. I don't think it was an easy play for him to make.

There is no way that hasn't caused at least some long term damage. I hope he retires to preserve whats left of his long term health at this point.

I don't know why we have to have a Tony Romo conversation twice a year. If you have difficulties grasping the complexities of an individual/team dynamic, that's on you.
