It makes a huge difference because all that needs to happen is Olympiakos to get one point OR Arsenal drops one point in either of the last two games. If Olympiakos hadn't won, Arsenal could draw one of the next two games and would at least have a mathematical chance at advancing. Now they are required to win both, and they have to win against Olympiakos by either more than one goal or by at least 3-2.

Yes, but it looked like it would come down to the last game barring another massive upset and it now will come down to the last game after these results. I don't really consider it realistic that Olympiakos gets a point in Munich and Arsenal have to prove that they actually belong in the RO16. So, not that big a difference really.

arsenal have home match vs zagreb, olympiakos has away match vs bayern. Olympiakos will lose, and if Arsenal can't beat Zagreb at home when their life depends on it, they don't deserve to move on. Either way, one of these two games having any other result than home victories would be a major upset.
And assuming that all goes as expected in those two matches, Arsenal has to win the final game against Olympiakos regardless of how Olympiakos vs Zagreb played out today. I mean, there's a difference in that now Arsenal needs to win by a scoreline that isn't 1-0 or 2-1, but even if Zagreb - Olympiakos was a draw, Arsenal would have to win both final games anyway. And as I outlined in an earlier post, even if Arsenal had beat Bayern, they would also have to beat Olympiakos in the final game. From a cursory glance, today's matches looked very important, but the way this group has played out, it was all going down to the final arsenal-olympiakos match barring two big/huge upsets today.

Yeah the only difference is that Arsenal arent masters of their own destiny anymore in so far as that Olymiakos stealing a point at Bayern will doom them.
The Arsenal Olympiakos game is a 6 pointer, the goal difference isnt that much of a poor exercise either since in winning the 2 games vs Zagreb and Olympiakos they need to cover around 3 goals in GD (assuming Olympiakos lose to Bayern by just 1 goal).
Frankly though if I was a 1st seed from the draws I'd be rubbing my hands together to play Arsenal or Chelsea.

I think with the exception of this match vs bayern (and honestly, I dunno how much of the loss should be attributed to arsenal being poor or bayern just being that damn good) and the league cup match (where they didn't seem to give a damn - their squad is too thin to compete in every tournament anyway), arsenal has been playing really, really well lately. Like, still clearly below the barca bayern real trio, but their past 5 important games (vs united, watford, everton, bayern and swansea) had them 5-0-0 with 13-1 goal difference.
I'm not arguing anything for Chelsea, but other than PSG, I don't think any of the current #2 teams look much better than Arsenal atm. Not really arguing that Arsenal has been better than Atletico, Valencia, Roma and Juventus either, but certainly around the same level (and certainly not worse than all of them. ) like maybe if I were to make a tier of the #2s right now it'd go like PSG > atletico > arsenal/valencia/roma/juventus > chelsea/eindhoven

Yea thats the thing right, thin squad and the lack of consistency. It also hasnt helped that Olympiakos has won games they might not have and that Arsenal have lost games they definately shouldnt.
Arsenal at their peak are a solid team. A top 4-12 European club sure. At the end of the day if you didnt qualify you probably dont deserve to.

You're really putting Valencia/Roma/Eindhoven above Porto and Benfica?
Benfica is not that good right now but Porto is playing way better than Valencia/Roma/Chelsea/Eindhoven.
Also Zenit is really strong this season.
Why do people always forget about the Portuguese teams?

I have never seen this many empty seats in a Galatasaray match before
I was damn pissed at everybody who takes his paychecks from Galatasaray (except for Muslera ofc). Crossing to Yilmaz's head all game long against Jardel and Luisão, not being able to cross the midfield with the ball for 30 minutes, Oztekin missing a stupidly easy goal at 90+2... well, you didn't deserve the win half as much as we deserved the loss. I wish we lose the remainder of the games and get eliminated, then Hamzaoglu gets sacked, then we actually get some good players and a good coach too. Everybody looked fuckin useless to me that game.

I'm actually just disregarding Porto and Benfica because yes, they are good, so good that they are #1 in their groups. I was only comparing teams that are currently #2 in their groups. Same with Zenit.

Zenit are crazy, domestically are very "average" and AVB looks close to being "fired" kind of average due to im sure Zenit and CSKA should be 1 and 2 battling it out. However he is the only manager in the champions league with a 100% win rate this term. Pretty crazy! Same with Benfica to that extent, sitting in 4th place with 3 defeats this term already is pretty poor for Benfica? Yet they top a very challenging group in the champions league on paper.

Ahaha, I read this the wrong way. You were evaluating the teams that are currently in the 2nd place of the Group. I read as Tier2 teams

Haha thats not how it works, we'll probably lose the remainder of the games and get eliminated and Hamzaoglu gets sacked then we buy some 35 year old midfielders and strikers who only come to turkey for retirement and good food. Rinse and repeat.

molde leading again, now 2-1 away vs celtic. keeps blowing my mind!
Daniel Berg Hestad scored for them - making him the oldest player to ever score in the Europa League. (he's 40!)
In honesty I want them to fail for no reason other than being rosenborg's main rivals, but they're playing so well that I kinda end up cheering for them anyway.

Lmao that penalty for Schalke. If that's a pen then we should have atleast 5 every game

god damnit lol down 0-2 again, once again defenders aren't good enough and attackers aren't clinical enough. midfield looks great but oh well, it's a learning season.
annoying part however is that our captain tore reginiussen, who got injured in the first match of the season (torn achilles) and just came back like 2 weeks ago, got injured again! :'(
then again, he's one of the defenders who didn't really do his job, maybe we do better now!
