You're losing, you're going to end up 2nd of your group with a chance to face Barça/City/United/Bayern and be out of the cup in February, and you're not giving 100%. I don't think they were that tired Concerning Cavani, I don't think he's a top top striker, but in his position on the wing, there's absolutely 0 chance he could shine. Ibra is the one that should be on the bench, but that's not going to happen. Blanc is totally incompetent. Even if he has 'external' pressure to put certain people on the field, he would have the full support from the supporters AND most of the players if he put Ibra aside. Paris is wasting Pastore so much, I would be pissed if I was him, he's been stellar and still can't start important games (he was injured yesterday though). Will Blanc die a coward or try to change things during winter? I agree that hes played out of position, but that doesnt excuse being terrible when the opportunity presents itself time and time again. Big games are when your big players step up and its not like some of those chances were even hard. Ibra as much as I love him needs to be the center of any universe hes part off. You either give him that or let him go. There is no compromise. The problem with Cavani and I keep saying this, is in a game that he doesnt score you literally cant think of a single good thing he may have done. He isnt particularly skilled at passing, tracking back or harrassing. Not saying he doesnt do any of those things or work hard. Hes just not very good at them. And he rarely creates something out of nothing against top quality opposition. I'd still be curious to see Cavani as the 9 and players like Di Maria/Pastore around him. I think he's far from Suarez' level but he could still score a lot of goals. The problem now is that Ibra is the boss, so Cavani gets nothing, and you can see it on his face, he doesn't even want to try. He wanted to leave the team last summer, I'm pretty sure the president told him to wait one more year (which is when Ibra's contract will be over) before taking his decision. There aren't tons of 9s available on the market anyway, I'd rather have them buy a star-level wing player (Reus/Neymar) than another 9. The team doesn't have any player to dribble and ask for vertical passes (Lavezzi can do that but he's not playing).

Anyone else find it fun to follow the Uefa Youth League? The two best teams in these three years of the competition I think have been Benfica and Chelsea, with accumulated records of: W-D-L ; GF-GA 20-4-2 ; 63-22 (Benfica) 18-1-2 ; 67-14 (Chelsea)

assuming that Olympiakos wins home vs Zagreb, Bayern wins home vs Olympiakos and Arsenal wins home vs Zagreb (and I'd argue it's quite likely this happens), then Arsenal's game today doesn't matter all that much. If Arsenal wins or ties, they will still need to beat Olympiakos in the final match in Greece. And if Arsenal loses today, they still need to win the final match in Greece - only difference is they need a better than 3-2 victory, whereas with a draw or win today, 1-0 will be enough.
So even though it intuitively looks like a super important game from the current standings, it might not be all that significant at all. Now, if Zagreb manages to hold on to a point against Olympiakos, it'll make any Arsenal point way more valuable. And I mean yeah, there's a difference between having to win 1-0 and 3-2/2-0, but it's not a mountain of difference. Anyway, on paper, Arsenal being 6 points behind Olympiakos with 2 games to play looks like an absolutely terrible situation, and it's quite likely that that's where the evening lands us. However, knowing that in the two remaining matches, Olympiakos has Bayern away and Arsenal home while Arsenal has Zagreb at home and Olympiakos away basically means that 6 points is well within reach, because most likely there's only a 3 point difference before the final match.
Contrast that with Arsenal winning today - then you have Arsenal and Olympiakos tied before the final match, however Olympiakos won the first match, thus Arsenal will lose the h2h battle unless they win the final match anyway.

Our good youths from last season out on loan in Vitesse. Great competition though, helps keep them progressing at a high pace. Anyone of note in that Benfica youth side?
Mourinho benches Hazard again! Brings Cesc back into first 11 though.
Begovic Dave - Zouma - JT - Baba Ramires - Matic Willian - Cesc - Oscar Costa
I like this team, and great that Pedro back on bench.

The media were saying that the dude who'd rather lose than win for Mou was either Hazard or Cesc, I guess benched Hazard is a strong hint of who is it.

Well Leverkusen is playing like ass. At this rate, Bayern will be the only German team in the RO16. Fucking Leverkusen and Wolfsburg an embarrassment.

I would not give up on them yet. Wolfsburg might still do okay even though their last game was terrible, they have shown they can compete vs the other teams. Same with Leverkusen, they might simply be out of luck for this game (had to be eventually lol). Surprisingly Gladbach would have been the 2nd best german team in CL if they would not have had that aweful start. We can just hope that BVB and Schalke make it into CL next year alongside with Bayern. Leverkusen is always wonky (although they can make their 3rd ro16 in a row if they advance i believe?) and Wolfsburg is almost worthless and has crazy up and downs without DeBruyne. I'll just cheer for Bayern this CL season as a german haha

Wolfsburg sucks without De Bruyne. Hecking's tactical approach is so undynamic, De Bruyne was the one making Wolfsburg look good.
Leverkusen are hit or miss, and mostly miss recently. Gladbach played good games against Juve, but it was too little too late.
I miss Dortmund in the CL, and even Schalke would make for a better showing.
