well it's still shocking to me how a team that goes 12-7-8 in the Norwegian league can be 2-1-0 vs ajax/fenerbache/celtic like regardless of circumstances, that still just doesn't make sense. Sevilla, I mean that's weird, but not shocking, because bad spanish teams are still good.
Like I might have phrased it in a 'I don't understand how molde is doing so much better than Rosenborg' type of way, but that's not really what I mean. It's just shocking how a team can go from mediocre in the Norwegian league to actually pretty good in Europe, because for the past 4 seasons, it basically has been irrelevant how dominant a team has been in Norway - they've still sucked in Europe. But then there is that whole positive groove going which might actually be manifesting throughout the entire country.

You know theres a couple of things with respect to what you mean, its kinda how teams like West Ham have stolen games from bigger clubs but in general struggle to maintain that level.
It has alot to do with preparation firstly, Molde is a lesser known quantity to Europeans than it might be to players in the Norwegian league. There are little nuances to how players play that get figured out over time if you face them or see them enough. You know what I mean, its the same in any esport aswell. Player tendencies and proclivities is a bigger deal the less you see them play.
The other is maintaining intensity for the league games when you are clearly spending all you have for these bigger games.
The final thing is that sometimes bigger clubs cant get worked up the same way. Sometimes no matter how much you convince yourself otherwise you do feel like if I just show up and play at a certain level we will win.
Then theres confidence. Its alot of little things, and ofcourse you can get a bit of luck here and there aswell. You see at the end of the day it is just 3 games after all. In the context of how many games these guys play. Its really not much :p

yeah I mean all of that makes sense. But I still think Molde's performance in the EL so far is the most surprising out of any EL/CL team's performance this season. Granted, I dunno how others are performing domestically, so Molde has way more room to surprise me than most other teams do. ;p

Sevilla 0-1 City Sterling, good play maybe questionable keeper but sterling slots home and 1-0 after 9 minutes. First elimination might come in if gladbach fail to win.
Oh 2-0 city now. Gladbach need to win or are out of the competition

Gladbach take the lead, doing their part to stay alive

Gladbach have been AWESOME since Lucien Favre left. They consistently score 3+ goals and have moved from last to 5th in the Bundesliga. I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up 2nd in their group.

If Sevilla and Gladbach win today, that group would be really intense at 7-6-6-4, with Juventus and City sliding, Sevilla looking good, and Gladbach destroying everything in their path.

Traveling midweek 7 hours from Spain to central Asia and playing at -10 degrees in Autumn must be hard. But Atleti should surpass that, Benfica won traveling even more distance.

No love for my beloved team Galatasaray from Benfica fans.
