Around here nearly everything that is vaguely strength-endurance is called crossfit. Pretty much every gym has a "crossfit" class.

Probably has something to do with the fact that there are 2 in my city and 5 in the next city over. On March 11 2014 17:18 zatic wrote: Is Crossfit a protected name, and do they enforce it? IIRC they've even started going after gyms that offer "X-fit", "Cross______", and other similar plays on the name. IDK how much they enforce it or even how much they CAN enforce it outside the US. It's a $3,000 annual fee for the license to use the crossfit name.

At my previous school, the cost was included somewhere in tuition so I don't know how much I was paying. My gym at home is $27/month.

Like igne said, sports drink, and they usually make you eat something before they let you leave anyway, so that's no problem. @ tofucake wow. 160 is definitely the high end for crossfit gyms. Most of them around here are 90-120, and it's pretty standard that they offer EMS discounts to varying degress. The best one around only charges 80 for EMS/Fire/Police, 160 is crazy expensive. Jeez that's cheap for around here. Most are in the 150-200 range (discounts for students, couples, and service employees). I was looking at ones to drop in around the city and some were like 20$ just to drop in for one session T_T

Even at the one I go to where there are plenty of good lifters and coaches there's still a good 3/4 of the people in the crossfit class doing lifts that make me cringe. You have a lot of unathletic people trying to do athletic movements that require coordination, procioception, and mobility that they just don't have. These same people have the "just have to tough it out" mentality and push through the pain into injury land. Crossfit HQ as a brand and company is pretty awful too.

Meh, I've gone to a fair share of gyms and I really love training on the crossfit one. Having non-club music, bumper plates and an atmosphere of people actually working hard is way more comfortable than other gyms with crowded bench racks. If they had a bench rack I would not go anywhere else to train. The coaches do make sure that people learn proper technique and are somewhat competent on the oly lifts and helped me correct my side tilt on the squat, which I would have never noticed anywhere else. Plus hot chicks. That said, they do a crossfit ripoff on my university that is like PE for 10 year olds, I get a good laugh whenever I see them.
