HOCKEY'S BACK!!! And that means, MORE TL FANTASY HOCKEY!! Welcome to the 8TH!! season. Here's to another great season. Monx finally dethroned Eti307 in a shortened season while yours truly took home the bronze.

What is fantasy sports?
You draft good players from different teams and you manage them. Simple enough? Well it probably isn't so I will explain a little more in depth.
YEAH! One of my players got a lot of points!
Different players play on different days. If a player gets a hat trick on Tuesday but you left him on the bench on that day. I would call you an idiot. Why? You wouldn't get the stats for that player!
So what do I do?
Everyday the players who are playing need to NOT be on the bench. There are 2 Center, 2 Left Wings, 2 Right Wings, 4 Defensemen, and 2 Goalie positions. Those positions MUST be filled by the respective category. A C Pos must be filled by a player of yours who actually plays center. There are 2 utility spots. These are much easier because they can be filled by anyone except goalies. So say you have 4 centermen playing one night. Dang it, you only have 2 center spots available each night. AHHH 2 utility spots are available! 2 centers playing in the 2 C Pos and 2 centers playing in the 2 utility spots.
Note: Sometimes you will have very few players playing one day and nearly your whole team playing another. This happens. You will have to muster up your amazing manager skills to decide who gets benched and who gets to play. (Sometimes you might make the wrong call and a benched player has an awesome night.)
The draft is scheduled for Sunday, September 29th @ 19:30 EST. The season begins Tuesday, October 1st.

Also, I'm thinking of changing one of the stat categories. Taking out hits and adding in something else..suggestions?
F/D: Goals, Assists, +/-, PM, PPP, Blocks, ?
G: W, GAA, S%.
Need at least 7 F/D stats to go with the 3 G stats. Other categories we can do: PPG, PPA, SHG, SHA, SHP, GWG, Shots, Shooting%, FO Won.
I was leaning towards SHP. Thoughts?
Also, added the Utility slot back and added an extra bench spot. Anything other recommendations/changes?
It's times like this when I start organizing the TL Fantasy leagues that I wish I had TL+ so I can easily PM everyone at once instead of individually. -_-; The one good thing from TL+!

I'd think that there wouldn't really be enough SHP for it to really work in this format. Nobody consistently gets them, so it'd make things kind of random. PPG and PPA assists don't really make sense either since we already have PPP. I think hits is probably better than those stats.

Another option could be to raise the minimum number of goalie starts/appearances a week to 4 or 5 if we remove hits and do not replace it..

nah that would be bad imo cause if your goalie doesnt get a start you're fucked.

Personally I really like the hits category, gives the enforcers and defensemen that arent very offensive the ability to still be good in the league. If I had to pick between the others listed I'd say Shots, FO Won, or GWG

I am in favor of keeping hits over SHP. If we wanna replace it though, Id say fo% or fowin. puts a major premium on centers though. hits is at least evenly distributed, and makes lower ranked guys more useful. shp is too random, just like gwg

Rotisserie (Roto) scoring explained
If your league uses rotisserie scoring, you are literally playing against everyone in your league at the same time. This is different than head-to-head scoring. (Where you have a single opponent each week and keep standings based on wins and losses against your different weekly opponents.)
With rotisserie scoring, fantasy teams are ranked from first to last in each of several statistical categories.
Each fantasy team receives points in each category based on how they rank in the league.
Each team's category points are totaled to determine their overall rotisserie score.
General Scoring:
If you won every category, you could earn as many points as the number of categories in your league, multiplied by the number of teams in the league. Similarly, the lowest number of points that a team can earn is equal to the number of scoring categories multiplied by one. (The lowest score that can be achieved in any category.)
Here is an example:
If you are in a 10-team league, the team with the most point in a single category will receive 10 points; the team with the second most will receive 9 points, etc.
- In the case of a tie, each team involved receives an average of the total points due—i.e., in the above example, if two teams were tied for first in a category, each would receive 9.5 points [(10 + 9) / 2 = 9.5].
So, if you were playing in a league with 10 teams and 12 scoring categories, the lowest point total possible is 10 [10 * 1 = 10] and the highest is 120 [10 * 12 = 120].
If you rank third in your league in every category, you would have 96 rotisserie points in the standings (8 roto points x 12 categories = 96).
The plus/minus figure in the Pts Change column of your standings reflects the cumulative change in your rotisserie points for the day.
- If you now rank third in every league category except one, in which you fell to fifth, you would have 94 rotisserie points (down from 96 the previous day) and the Pts Change column would show -2.
Rotisserie standings reflect cumulative season stats and not any single-day accumulation of stats. Your rotisserie total may change from day-to-day depending on how your rank in each category was impacted by each day's activity.

I think head to head is more exciting, especially for the playoff push and trying to get that last seed to get in to the playoffs..whereas in roto, if you're 6th with a few weeks to ago, its improbable you'll have a shot at winning. Roto is a lot more skilled...H2H more exciting & fun. If we can get a 10th, I'd prefer H2H but if we're stuck at 9, I think Roto is the way to go rather than waiting and missing out on more of the season (already lost the first week and if we don't do it Sunday, will lose Week 2).

New update from Yahoo....Not a fan of implementing changes in the middle of the season but think about this for next season..
New IR+ roster spot in Fantasy Hockey
Yahoo Sports has introduced an IR+ roster spot for Fantasy Hockey this season.
Players eligible for this position will have the following injury designations:
Injured Reserve
Day-to-Day
This roster position is in addition to the current IR spot, for which a player is eligible only if they are on the official NHL injured reserve list.
Commissioners can add this roster spot by using the Edit Roster Settings tool. They may add up to five IR+ roster spots.

It's cool if you follow closely your team and can get a new player as soon as the inury is declared
It rewards active player which is pretty good overall

I mean, I would have loved this 3 weeks ago when I had 4 players on the IR..If we get more of a consensus and people would like it added, I'll do it. But as I said, change in the middle of a season is kinda meh to me but your comments are totally valid and on point.
