But should he find a new surge of motivation to fight for points, who knows! Its likely that if they keep Alonso on board for another year, that theyll accompany him with a midfielder content on an upgrade of team but playing second fiddle for points Imagine Rosberg and someone like Hulk though, Maybe Ferrari is looking for some extra exposure in the German market :D In any case, things are looking pretty good for Hülkenberg for next year though

Kimi lost his motivation (imo) when he signed that £30m pa Ferrari deal and married a supermodel. I never understood those "kimi has lost his motivation" blah blah theories. It's tiring and comes back every season at some point... Kimi himself always repeats its BS and he never lost it. Come on guys, its F1 ffs.

I agree. Obviously Hamilton is the favorite, but maybe the odds are 70% Hamilton wins it, 25% Rosberg, 5% someone else. Does anyone have an update about the speed of the cars relative to 2013? It was reported at the begging of the year the cars were 2-5 seconds slower than their 2013 counterpart, but the progress to improve lap times should be pretty quick, and we should be at a similar point in speed to the end of the 2013 season by the end of the 2014 season.

That's kind of hilarious I'm picturing this season long struggle for teams to catch up to Mercedes, and finally at the totally happening Russian GP Red Bull thinks they are on equal ground, and then Mercedes bring in updates for every part of their car and go back to being 2+seconds ahead

Source? Because that is just plain wrong. Why would you not bother to bring updates to your car? F1 is all about development. What you say makes no sense in F1. Doesnt matter if you are tenth ahead or 10 seconds ahead, you are always trying to make your car faster. So yea i think that is some bullshit statement.

Probably because the effort to turn ideas into parts and get parts to the car slow you down. You can iterate far faster in theory than in practice. They're probably keeping half-explored ideas in the pipeline instead of putting them into practice unless they want some specific testing. If he means they have literal physical parts that are better just laying around ready but they can't be bothered then yeah, I agree that's pretty far-fetched. I don't think that is what he means, though. That and it's way cheaper.

So by definition of the rules all updates are known to everybody. So theoretically, Renault might have gotten an 'OK' on a beneficial modification, that Mercedes could easily implement as well, but have not done so until now...

As for the 2+seconds, don't you guys think Rosberg would have qualified on the front row more than 1/4 if that were true? It is fast but that RB is an awesome chassis imo, Horner can (for once) say that Renault are holding them back from another year of dominance.

It has rained in qualifying for 3/4 sessions, hes probably just not that good in the rain.
