It's Ovie man. A talent like that has to wake up eventually and apparently Lupul will be at practice tomorrow.

The one thing they have going for them is toughness; they can make checks and play physical on the forecheck. Beyond that, their puck handling skills suck (FUCKING TERRIBLE), they are incredibly slow, their defense is meh, their offense is ok (but poor puck handling and poor finishing skills detract from it), goaltending is good (but no reliable backup), and their timing on shift changes is fucking awful. Teams like this (and I feel like teams like Detroit, SJ, St. Louis, kind of suffer from this too) can make some good runs (Wild had a good run of wins with some improvement in puck handling and defense), but just aren't consistent or skilled enough to seriously contend.
Seriously, I could probably skate faster than Parise at this point...
And people wonder why the NHL isn't so successful in MN. I could go to any fucking high school in the state and watch players try harder (and probably do better) than what we saw from the Wild tonight.
Try being a Devils fan at the moment >:[ .
And as for Lupul, Carlyle reported that he was feeling "fine" or something after the game, and may very well practice tomorrow. Don't know what to read into that, considering it was clearly a head injury, the extent of which might not be immediately identifiable. He should probably sit out a couple of games just to make sure, but who knows. I don't think it's a coincidence that Lupul goes down and the Leafs proceed to lose the game (in arguably unfair fashion, but those are the breaks) though. JVR had a nice goal at least.
At least the Devils have some cups. Minnesota doesn't have a title in any sport (that matters).
Fair enough. The Wild are a young franchise and are in rather good shape for the future though. They strike me as a team that could easily pull off some upsets in the playoffs.
They could pull off some upsets if they play like they were mid-Fed through mid-March. The problem is this inconsistency, especially after the Pominville trade. They gave up a LOT of prospects and future opportunities for a "now" move, and with these three straight losses, the Wild are only four points ahead of ninth (and they were in 3rd this time last week), and their schedule isn't that easy.

Sounds like you're comparing the two.
Oh hell no. It was just my train of thought because I just overheard it which is somewhat good news for Leafs fans I guess?

Ha ha. I've always been an Ovie fan. When Sidney and Alex joined the league at the same time. I was always rooting for Ovie because I loved the passion he displayed on the ice even though guys like Don Cherry would say, "that shits going to get you in trouble!" Guy has a ton of charisma, but I really hate it when he doesn't get involved in the play. I call it sniper syndrome. x-x
I have watched hockey for many years. And yet I still haven't pinned down this query: why do "skill" guys have either the back brace or their jerseys tucked into the pants more often than others? A lot of the Russian skill guys do it; Versteeg, Gagne, Van Riemsdyk, Jagr, and Voracek are some recent examples I can think of from my favored team. My friend's theory was that having a tighter sweater makes your control feel "tighter" as well. Food for thought.
they're floating really hard out there, just trying to prevent an errant gust of wind from taking them back to Nobackchechistan
in other news, a certain Maple Leafs coach shares his thoughts on concussions!
“I have a theory on concussions,” he said. “I think the reason there’s so much more of them — obviously the impact and the size of the equipment and the size of the player — but there’s another factor: everyone wears helmets, and under your skull when you have a helmet on, there’s a heat issue.
“Everyone sweats a lot more, the brain swells. The brain is closer to the skull. Think about it. Does it make sense? Common sense?” said Carlyle, who said he’d never talked to a doctor about his premise, which he was introduced to by Jim Pappin, the former Leaf who also played his career helmet free.
“I don’t know if it’s true, but that would be my theory. Heat expands and cold contracts. The brain is like a muscle, it’s pumping, it swells, it’s a lot closer to the outside of the skull.”

How can someone who is paid so much money to be the brains of the team be so stupid?

he is on the streak against crap teams though.
clutch playoff goal scorer Alexei Yashin is the GM of the Russian women's team.
a lot of people said he played like a girl.
I'd rather just watch USA play Canada in a best of 7 series instead of these world championship events where they play each other twice and all that matters is who wins the 2nd game.

Helmets protect the skull not the brain.
As "head protection" and equipment has improved in the NHL over the past 40 years head injuries have become progressively worse.
What is needed is more fluid in the skull to protect the brain... this is done with a neck brace. "a slight constriction of key neck veins keeps cerebral fluids around the brain"

Ha ha ha. Alexei Yashin did play like a girl and speaking of which the Canadian women just dominated Russia. Apparently he skates with them wearing his full gear as well. What the fuck? Considering they aren't even allowed to play full contact, which is total balls.
I would like it if Ovie did step up his game when it comes to big games like the playoffs and World's. The bigger the game the less likely it is for Ovie to show-up sadly. Still he's a treat to watch when he gets going.
As for Canada versus USA. Same because the other teams aren't even remotely close to their level.
Time to ride the good wave of the canucks right now! WOWEEEEE! True fan right here! Cup run here we go!
lol... on a serious note, it looks like things are starting to come together for the team and a run is actually possible if they keep it together. Roy is proving to be an unreal pick up for us!
What I was saying to my friends the other day. The place where I work I see a large amount of customers and often listen to their views on the Canucks because everyone in my town is a classic arm chair coach. If you weren't really caught up in the scene and the standings, you would be led to believe that the Canucks are probably a bottom feeder team that has no depth.. etc. While on the flip side, the blackhawks are probably the best team to touch the NHL since Colorado's run back in the late 90's. When you look at the standings the Canucks are only 12 points out of the Blackhawks and could make a serious move into closing that gap (should be noted since it is a shorten season I do not think it is possible for them to actually catch them). Since the end of the season is quickly coming and playoffs will be starting soon, it seems like all the pieces for this team are falling together and could make a serious run! As long as they can stay healthy this whole post season I can't wait to be in Vancouver when they hoist the Cup!
Long story short.... Canucks fans are the worst.
EDIT: Sorry for shitty grammar haven't slept yet and currently in class.
When did Canadiens fans incite a riot due to losing ?
there was something small after winning the Cup in 1993.. and defeating Boston in 2008 in 7 games. i think there was a small thing after they beat washington in 7 games as well. and then there was the riot after Maurice Richard was suspended.
