There have been many changes and moves within that organization and it all went to hell. Remember when Sanchez was being touted as their promising young QB? Well now there have been locker room dissent against Sanchez and the city is very disappointed in their QB. Once Sanchez screws up the first couple games with lackluster play or his relentless interceptions....people gonna start chanting Tebow and tebow will take over. I am pretty sure Tebow will play once sanchez effs up.
Thus, Tebow has a chance to write a fairy tale story that the NFL has not seen for decades! To rise to fame in Denver and then to have it all taken away in an instant by one of history's best QBs. Moved to the Jets and forced in a 2nd spot, but the fans call him and he delivers. Showdown on Sunday Night against Peyton Manning and the Broncos.....winning.....espn explodes. In your face john elway.
lol disney could make a movie off of that.

still can't believe the Broncos let him go.....

I just always had the feeling that Elway wanted absolutely nothing to do with Tebow. But Tebow kept winning so Elway HAD to back him up.

Jets feeling desperate to compete with the attention the Giants are getting again, so instead of improving their team, they've added a cash-cow sideshow. Rex Ryan will likely get fired after next season. I think Tebowing in NY, by which I really mean, New Jersey, technically, won't be warmly received. I'm betting Tebow curbs his behavior a little bit and becomes a pure football drone: team this, practice that, coach said, look at the tapes, yadda yadda.

That's 4, soon to be 5. The Jets and Giants play in New Jersey. As do the Red Bulls. And the Liberty. And the Islanders play on Long Island.

People here bemoaning the trade are speaking through a very flawed and prejudiced lense - understand football and organizational theory and you will understand Tebow to the Jets makes perfect sense. It was a pure football move.
Listen to Bill Polian (yes that Bill Polian - the former GM of the Colts who built the Peyton Manning era, the 6 time NFL Executive of the Year winner, and easily among the greatest football personnel men of all time) - he agrees this is a perfect fit. Tebow should not be the starter, but instead utilized in special offense packages, especially in the red zone and short yardage goal line scenarios. Read options on goal lines are notoriously difficult to stop.
Let Sanchez and his fragile ego and serviceable but limited abilities take care of the base offense. Sanchez can move the chains. Switch in Tebow on specials (options and wildcats). And on the occasions where Sanchez falters late, put in Tebow and see what magic he performs. And remember, the Jets will be (again) a defense first, ball control team. You don't need to put up gaudy offensive numbers to win.
If you're a Jets fan, you should be rejoicing at the possibilities. All this still has to get executed, and no doubt the media circus and locker room egos have to be managed, but the prospects are very intriguing.
And it was the height of irony and hypocrisy for Joe Namath to come out and proclaim the trade little more than a "publicity stunt". Says the walking publicity stunt disguised as a human being.

Teach this man to catch and put him at TE, to much talent to be on the sidelines all game

I'll be hoping the Jets start the season 0-4. Tebow drama is too entertaining to miss out on.

disregard what i said, lol. didn't realize he already got traded.

I envision Tebow in the Jets offense to be similar to Brad Smith''s role during his time, a little bit of everything. Smith was lining up at WR, QB, HB and working with Special Teams during his time on the Jets. The Jets are a good fit for Tebow because of their game plan of ball control via the run, with a slightly aging defense controlling the opponent's offense. The NY media are going to be the X-Factor, whether they can help or hurt the team, no one can tell.

The wildcat has quickly reverted back to being mostly useless because teams have seen it so much thanks to the Dolphins and a host of other teams. The other thing is that going into a wildcat formation makes it pretty obvious what is happening, and teams can stack the box.
If there is a way to utilize Tebow, it would be to train him as a FB/HB/TE and do a lot of shotgun with him, Sanchez and Green back there. That becomes a whole lot less predictable than the wildcat, and allows him to either run, catch or throw in a more disguised package.
While there is potential for some success there, the baggage that comes with tebow is what makes this ridiculous. It's all but certainty that there is a controversy at some point this season the first time that Sanchez has even a mediocre team, the notorious NY media will smell blood in the water and be all over that, and so will the fans. There's already division in the locker room over this, and that lockeroom was already cancerous last year with that retard Holmes.
And while there certainly is some football merit here, make no mistake that this is absolutely definitely part publicity move. Tebow jerseys fly off the shelves, he draws eyes that do not normally watch. Playing in the shadow of the NYG, especially off of a SB year, they definitely need that.
Overall, I think the baggage that comes with Tebow is really not worth what he can potentially bring to the field. If the Jets had a more firmly entrenched starter, maybe it would be a different story. But Sanchez is gonna get dogged from day one, and he's a much, much better option than Tebow, and it will divide the locker room.

I predict that at some point in the upcoming season, there will be a QB swap where Tebow will take over at QB and lead the team to the playoffs.
He is a leader and he is as strong as a horse.

Timmy is going to try to convert the heathen homo-seculars of NYC. It's his greatest challenge from Jesus yet!!!

He's a running back that can kinda throw. I don't know why he hasn't been used in that manner yet.

From this perspective, I would say the Giants can be added to the list of NY Teams but i am not a NYer, so i don't know.

Oops, miscounted. It's actually ten. But shit, just because they play a few minutes outside of the actual city doesn't mean that they don't represent the city. They aren't the New Jersey Jets/Giants, they are the New York Jets/Giants, and the New York Islanders/Liberty/Red Bulls. It's ridiculous to claim that just because they don't actually play right inside NYC that they don't represent the area.
Hell, you could probably throw the New Jersey Devils in there, but they are actually labeled New Jersey.

New York is also one of the largest, if not the largest, markets in the US?? So I don't get what your point is??

They don't even play in the same state.
