I feel like going to the gym is a waste of time right now... I still love going to lift, but I can't actually get any weight moved in any exercises that matter. It's three weeks of this, getting towards four. My hip feels a lot better, but I still can't get a deadlift off the ground, and I still can't turn around in a squat. Taking 225 off the floor feels like I'm lifting the goddamn moon, even though I can pull way more than that. I can't pull my old "worksets" right now for a single rep, I'm not even thinking about setting PRs anymore. I'm going in, trying to do my real lifts, realizing it's not going to happen today and then doing some kind of stupid lifts for thirty minutes so I didn't waste the trip. Rinse and repeat the next day, and hope to god it goes away soon. I don't feel tired all the time, but people around me are commenting that I look or act like I am.
I don't know whether I'm working too much (typically working ~45 hours/week, out in the sun) not sleeping enough (I've always slept badly. Irregular hours, and poor quality. Maybe it's catching up with me.) not eating enough (I think I am, I'm at least maintaining if not gaining slowly) or I tried to lift too much and I'm just burnt out. Maybe this is what over training feels like? Maybe I'm still sick and I dont know it? Maybe I'm just a little bitch and I need to muscle through, because tomorrow I'll lift better? Maybe this is my punishment for not calling those Oly coaches yet? I don't know.
All I know is I'm excited to go to the gym, and pick up heavy shit, and then when I get there the goddamn bottom falls out and I can't do shit. And it's really starting to piss me off.
take a break or get a doctor to help you. your injury sounds like a pain in the ass and you gotta get it fixed somehow. i got injured and haven't been able to squat for a month so i kinda know what you're feeling atm, but remain optimistic and get some professional help imo.
Dropped all pull work and did Box squat / Front Box Squat / dynamic work with jump and reactive jumps for the past month. I did a final training session at the gym I was and jumped on a 55 inch box. No video unfortunatly...
My strength training is reduced during the summer but I'll soon start training for the deadlift once again. I'll start taking videos again too!
You've put more weight on your lifts in the last month than I have. Clearly I'm being a bitch about something, I just need to figure out how the hell to fix it.

If anything decaf has taught me throught all these pages of health and fitness is...
is there is something wrong, hurting or "giving you a hard time", you just squat heavier.
it will all get better soon, just don't give your body a rest, it will catch up to you and you will always overcome. You, and we all, are programmed to do so. Let's go.
I'm sort of debating switching over to TM for my BP. Has anyone here done TM while on a cut and could share his experience? I'm running keto+IF(sort of) and I'm mainly concerned that the high volume will produce the opposite result.
TM just destroyed me on a cut. But I did a full TM and it was mainly the squats which killed me. By itself, the volume of the bench press might not be too bad. I never felt the bench press is especially taxing to be honest, so you might want to give it a try. Just be aware that you spend the first four weeks building up to a level where you already are, just with more volume. In other words, if you build it up slowly (as you should) and then afterwards don't get good results, you basically have wasted around 8 weeks. Of course you can put that more friendly, you then have learned something more about your body, and patience is a virtue in weightlifting anyway, 8 weeks are nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah, TM for squats while on a cut is completely out of the question for me. To be honest, I'm not so sure I want to do TM for squats while bulking either
Anyway, I was thinking that I'd just deload by a bit (like 10lbs) and start the program from there. I'm not really looking to make gains at this point (though it would be pretty nice), since I've already more than matched my goals for this cut. All I really want to do is maintain my current numbers so I have a solid base to progress from in 3-4 weeks when I finish my cut.
It's a bit of a dilemma, gonna have to give it some more thought I guess. But regardless - thanks for sharing your experience!

Sorry that was probably me. I do think proper crossfit is a really good idea to do, whilst looking at powerlifters is impressive it's not really the body I aspire to have, where you can't do up your shoe laces and have difficulty with stairs. All I meant is that it's not something I would want to watch.
There a lot of flaws with the way CrossFit do things, and they hate criticism so everyone loves hating on them. That being said nearly everyone can see the positives in it, and I know a lot of oly lifters are excited just to see the huge take up of amateur lifting and coverage in the media.
Here's the event from the games this year that was nothing but cleans. .
Well.. If you were really surprised by this, your life is probably gonna be shit for the next two months or so. That's usually how long it takes to see it wasn't worth having.
I arrived in Fort Worth earlier this week and it's really awesome here! Just came back from a trip to Austin for a few days as well which had great parties. Now after a week of no gym and too much alcohol and bad food I'm gonna try and get back on track a bit by finding a gym around here.

Ah man, that sucks. I obviously don't know anything about your relationship, but I've found that what I'm about to say applies to pretty 99% of these cases: It's very likely that at some point one of you will want to "try again" or something like that. THIS DOES NOT WORK OUT WELL, EVER. It might sound a bit harsh but I highly recommend that you severe all contact with your ex and spending the following weeks throwing yourself into your passions in life, be it lifting or something else. It'll save you a whole lot of time and heartache.

If you have enough bodyfat that cutting is reasonable and you have done high volume intensity squats before (think smolov or 20 rep squat routine) u can cut during TM. Those are big IFs though (gonna consider it for my cutting phase :p)
Last night I got massively drunk, celebrating surviving week 2 of smolov (I must be the only powerlifter to drink 3x a week while doing smolov). I had tons of fun, but it just didn't felt right. I've felt like this every time I've got super drunk in the last 2 months or so. Dunno if its because of powerlifting or gf, but getting massively drunk which was prolly the thing I liked the most before isn't fun anymore (and I wasn't as drunk as I used to get, there was no puking/memory loss involved). It just feels much more enjoyable to drink few alcohol and remain there (I'm also convinced 1-2 glasses of wine after high intensity training aids with recovery). Anyone got any similar experience?
Also, I can't think of anything more hardcore than a russian weightlifter with russian metal

Listen to this. All contact, gone. Delete her from facebook, remove her number from phone, everything like that. You don't have to burn pictures or delete them off facebook that's silly, but do not contact her in any way at all (took me like 4 months of no contact with her before I didn't feel hurt anymore and even now years later I still don't want to have anything to do with her not b/c I'm mad but b/c it makes me sad)

I'm actually down to the last 2-3kg (give or take) that I need to lose, so this probably won't work out very well. I guess I'll just postpone it until I finish the cut. Just gonna get through with my last couple of exams next week and then I'll try another 2 weeks of Clen. Hopefully that'll take care of the rest.

Thanks guys, and yeah I'm doing exactly this. She said she still wants to talk and she was giving the impression that she wants to break up for a few months then get back together in the future (needs space, coming to the end of her year long research project and writing up, blah blah).
Not having any of that shit. I called and told her to come tomorrow to pick the last couple of bits she forgot when she took all her stuff, and that after that I didn't want to talk to her, and that being friends wouldn't work for me. She turned on the water works which normally makes me weak, but I stayed strong.
Spent the day typing lists on notepad lol, helped a lot. I'm ready to get over this now, just need to pick something to throw myself into.
