C1: "Man, these athletes are so fit" C2: "Oh yes, they really are, they are real specimen of mankind" C1: "They are the fittest athletes in the world" C2: "Indeed. And did you see those abs?" C1: "Yes, I did see those abs, they are amazing. These athletes are so fit" C2: "Yes, they are the fittest athletes in the world. When you walk around here, you see a lot of abs and a lot of fitness" C1: "Yes, they are huge and fit and ripped, and everone is so happy, and carries their abs around. They truly are the fittest athletes in the world. Unbelievable what weights they are moving" C2: "Yes, when the camera zooms in, you can see their muslces contract. Do you see those abs working that weight?" C1: "Yes, and it is so hard, so you need amazing abs, and so much fitness. And here is our Reebok preacher, he is the fittest preacher in the world" (Ok, I made this one up). Sadly I missed the corporate preacher thing. I would have loved to see that.

Anyway, did this bad boy today, PR for me on the pause squat. Also got 140kg DL for 4 reps followed by 125 for 5 reps. Still cutting and keeping strength kind of.

The commentary sucks yes :-D And some of the events are stupid, but the best of these guys and women have very, very impressive strength, cardio and gymnastics skills.

I listen to a crossfit podcast just because it's really funny (I've never done or plan to do crossfit) and they were going to do an episode at the games but the host got thrown out of the game because he criticised crossfit on his blog (they also shut his facebook page and blog down). Basically the crossfit organisation is a huge joke and seems to be getting worse as they become more successful. I wouldn't be surprised if some competitors to crossfit appeared and it imploded on itself.

![]() Has anyone here ever tried bulking with leangains? I obviously had great success cutting with it, but it doesn't exactly seem ideal for strength gain, and not just because its hard to fit alot of calories in that 8 hour window. I'm no expert obviously, but in terms of muscle gain doesn't it seem like a bad thing to be on a caloric deficit with no carbs on the days in between your lifts?

Was it you who uploaded a video of you doing chin ups or pull ups earlier this year? If it was that was my motivation to get unassisted chinup, dips and pullups! 2 down, just pull ups to go!

They can pretty well but they're not at all impressive compared to people who are really good at running. Not even just marathon runners or 100 milers and stuff, but like some of the SAS stories I've heard are insane, I'm sure they're the same for some of the US special military forces stuff. They aren't week but watching a guy put 90kg above his head a bunch of times just isn't very impressive. WSM has the most enormous guys walk out and then manhandle the biggest log you've ever seen above their head, then they move on to an even bigger log, etc. The numbers powerlifters move boggles the mind. They have some gymnastic skills but if you've ever seen a proper gymnast some of the stuff they can do, particularly in groups, blows the mind. So it just doesn't impress me there. Overall they're really well rounded, and I think it's actually a really sensible way to train because you'll be well above average in every way, and having a lot of strength, fitness, control etc would be good for sports. Would also make it interesting by doing different things all the time. It doesn't impress me though.

He said something about mastering his own bodyweight or something similar. They, along with pull-ups, have been giving me the best upper back gains I've gotten from any exercise.

Deadeight I see what you're saying about crossfit but, well, that's the whole point of crossfit. I think history has proven you can make sports as silly and arbitrary as you like anyway and it's no barrier to success. I think it could be a problem professionally because people will always argue the workout favoured lighter/shorter/stronger/faster or whatever athlete. That in itself wouldn't be a problem though if they didn't have the retarded 'fittest man on earth' marketing. Here's a funny blog I found, duno how true it is but it paints a pretty grim picture of Crossfit HQs practises. http://robbwolf.com/2009/11/24/the-black-box-summit-or-how-i-got-fired-from-the-crossfit-nutrition-certification/

I am up to 6 chin-ups now. And really happy that I was able to inspire someone. Gratz ![]() And my biggest beef with CrossFit is also the marketing, advertising and all the bullshit that surrounds it. For all intends and purposes, I love strength training, I love running and I am falling more and more for gymnastics. So I am basically a closet Crossfitter myself (just with emphazising strength above everything else), just that I don't pay 100€ a month to do it. I never understand the urge to give something I do a specific name. Of course they are just building a brand, but I won't be a part of that.

I got my first proper wall handstand pushup today, nose to the ground. Been doing them for a while but just partial rom. Now I just have to move onto proper ones on my paralettes.
