I've got this older guy who looks like he tans and is trying to be bodybuilder, seems like an ok guy but I think he liked the gym less crowded in the morning before me and two buddies started coming. Yesterday he used the power rack for seated overhead press. Kept adjusting the seat so he could get it off the rack but not hit it on the way up... I mean why not just stand up? Then proceeds to try it in the smith machine O.o
I have given up on ever trying to figure out why people do what they do in the gym. I've seen the same kids come into the gym and do bicep curls to failure with the bar and sit ups...i shit you not...on the squat rack with their legs around the bar. They've been doing this for like over a year with no progress.
With my warm-ups of 2 sets my workout is taking about an hour and three quarters if I'm going at a decent pace. I guess that's what I give up if I'm only going 3x a week.

Anyone got any suggestions to grip training? Deadlift holds, shrugs and kroc rows seem to be efficient, not sure if it is tho.
People here may not approve of this, but a Powerball may be a good option. I used to use it loads when I played guitar a lot, and my forearms got massive.
Lifetime warranty is pretty good, I'm on my second at the moment but that's only because the computer went.
Probably going to do a warrior dash in a month... my school's offering a huge discount and free transportation, so it should be fun to round up a few friends. Only problem is that it's the day after "mayfest" our huge spring celebration where they cancel classes, topped off by a 15,000 seat concert in the carrier dome... Gonna have to channel my inner decaf for this one.
Nice, I'm doing a warrior dash in June with my wife. Warm up for tough mudder in September :D
Doing tough mudder in september too. Just started running a week ago after not running (outside of gym warmups... which is nothing anyways) for a year and a half or so. Was painful to start
Still debating what I want to do with my gym workouts. I know I can keep going with SS for a little bit, but I would like to switch things up, plus extensive running would keep me from getting awesome gains anyways. We'll see...
You should film the run like Cecil did. It was oddly entertaining for some reason, I watched the whole race. :p
Soon I hope. If exams don't kill me first...10 days of hellish 24/7 reading left and then I won't have much to worry about until next fall.
But as soon as I keep my diet calorie rich and clean enough my lifts will go up.
Just hard to manage with so much schoolwork to do. Thinking back and then I realize this semester has been quite busy. It's a wonder I'm keeping up with my lifts so I hope when I'm finished with this workload I'll be able to crack some new PRs
My friend just text me his new 1rm on deadlift today
I go to the gym with him and he's stayed ahead of me on bench, we're the same on squats, but I always was well ahead of him on deadlift, but no longer. He's also a lot stronger than me on stuff like military press. Damn his build. He's like 5ft 8 with a barrel chest. That must surely make a difference on lifts like when you squat down to parallel the bar won't have travelled as far for him so he'll have done less work.
I'm going to trust in getting results from SL even though I've cut gym from 5 days a week to 3.

What else can I do on top of presses and bench that doesn't involve my legs? I have added weighted chin ups and dips, but at some point it seems I just overload my upper body and don't really get results on the later exercises due to exhaustion.
I tried some machine for glutes and back (judging from youtube videos I was doing reverse hyper extension?) to get at least some back work in my day, but I maxed out on the weights the first go
These are the times where it is semi-acceptable to use machines

Ya. There is a powerlifting approach that involves a compound lift followed by cables. Think squat 5x3, followed by 15x3 on leg curls, leg presses and whatever. It is believed it helps activating laggin muscles and with hyperthropy.
I get eshlow meant about being unable to do compound lifts though.
any of you guys fit in a martial art/boxing alongside your lifts?
also i need to know how my friend developed his neck muscles so amazingly, please tell me. is it chin/pullups? (i still get them mixed up). see previous page/s for pix of friend, its not far back.
also eslow ill pm you a question , i love you ALL SO FUCKIN MUCH
if by a few pages you mean 10 then I found it. I dunno what's so impressive about his neck, only thing I see is decent traps which is obv from deads/cleans.
I have no idea why you think chins have anything to do with your neck.

i get pullups confused with chinups. IMO it is either lateral pulldowns or wide-grip chin/pullups (im thinking pullups since i get confused) that achieve this
oh and excuse me if i dont think neck muscles right up to his motherfucking CHEEKBONE is impressive
