That sucks If you have a gym membership instead of a home gym, you could look at using some machines to keep some of your lower body strength at least.

You're not allowed to do work that won't involve the casted(assumption on my part) hand? I know people consider machines the devil in a lot of gym circles, but that's not true in the first place, and it's especially not true in the situation you will be in where much machine work can be done 1(or even no) handed.
Try to see what you can piece together, any work you can get in will help slow atrophy along with keeping the protein in your diet high. Minimize losses and whatnot.
When I broke my hand I tried working out with machines and all lower body work... The major problem? The fucking smell. I was in a plaster cast/splint that couldn't get wet for 5 weeks. Ever had a sweaty foot that you haven't washed in a month on your arm? Nobody will want to be within 10 feet of you xD

thx for the comfort and advices guys, i dont know the english name but basically my bone connected with my small finger on my left hand is broken and im currently running around with this beauty of a beast + Show Spoiler +
cast position for the fingers looks fine to squat dont u think ?^^ jk ofc
getting my surgery date tomorrow and will see then, def going to workout with machines then until its fully recovered.
sry for any typos but typing with one hand is a pain in the ass^^
You could just squat using one or no hands like Misha did when his biceps tore.

Great workout today,
BS: 170kg x 4 (+2 reps since last time) FS: 95kg x 5-5-5 (+2,5kg) Pullups: BW x 3-3-3, BW+5kg x 3, BW x 3
Slowly adding more volume onto the pullups. Did 11 reps last time, today 15 with one set with additional weight.
I dont think that's a viable alternative unless your back muscles are as big as misha's happy birthday btw!
I caught a cold/bad caugh on friday and its still ongoing despite heavy vitamin D bombing (40k+ IU per day)... this totally sucks. I dont think I will be feeling well enough to attempt coan/phillipi week 9 tomorrow T_T
Eshlow, it seems that I've hurt my chest and upper back a little. It feels incredibly stiff and hurts somewhat. Was just wondering if it would be okay to do some running while it's healing?
And also, I've bought your book. Seems really nice and detailed. Just gonna do a little more deadlift to build my upper body strength before starting it. Thanks for being awesome. :D
Should I get used Ivanko plates for $1/lb? There are a few cheaper used plates that I have my eyes on (e.g. Marcy) but I don't know how accurate those plates are.

lol yeah. but the attitude is what matters. don't make injuries stop you - thanks man <3 get well soon. I'd delay CP wk9 for several days and see if you feel a little better. It's the additional stress from the program that very well be the reason you got ill.
@Infinity: Ivanko plates are generally toatlly worth it. They don't generally get better than that.
Just a small update from me. This weekend (Friday) I did 5-5-5 chin-ups for the first time ever :D Exactly a month ago I did 3-4-3, and I'd been stuck at around that weight for a long time, so I'm very happy with the progress. I also did 5 pull-ups for the first time today (5-4-2). Three weeks ago I did 3-3-1, so I'm very happy with the progress. I think most of the progress is due to me cutting for the last month, but as far as I can tell my weight hasn't changed that much (haven't weighed myself in the last 2 weeks so I'm not sure), so I don't know if that's it.
Other than that, my back is feeling much better. I've been doing some low weight squats/deadlifts (85/105kg) for higher reps. I'm planning to work myself back to my work weights (112/145kg) over the next week. Bench and OHP haven't been going that well during the cut. Had to deload OHP after failing on 55kg for the third time on Friday, and deload bench after failing 75kg for the third time today. I guess that's to be expected though.
I did pretty well on Friday, then Saturday had to do 20+ miles which I'd agreed to do with my girlfriend. My legs were completely screwed, spent all day today with them just aching. Got squats again tomorrow and I'm dreading it, worried I won't be hitting the same weight. Tempted to give it a miss, will just wait and see.
So I have a question, I posted a while back that I was planning on asking out the girl I like after hitting my goal in July. Well some stuff happened, and it turns out I asked her out way sooner than I wanted to. Here lies the problem. I am Fat. Not like a circle type of fat but still I am fat. The only reason that, she will give me that she wont go out with me is that I am fat. This isn't going to change me working out, if anything it gives me more of a reason to work out. But I want to ask you guys who check this thread a couple questions.
Would it be worth it to still go out with the girl if she wont be with me now, that I am fat out of shape? Is it like one of those, she only likes me now that I am skinny/in shape, and wont like me for who I am on a personal level? Do you think it is shallow of her?
I wouldn't describe it as shallow, because lets face it simply is a reality of how relationships work. Physical attractiveness is important and it seems the only time it isn't important is when an even more shallow thing is placed in it's place like wealth/success.
It's probably more revealing that she's a very blunt/straightforward person, or even mean; but it's up to you to interpret what she said to you. I find in situations like that by the time you've changed yourself or enough time has passed and you've grown in other ways you might not even be attracted to her anyway.

Unless you are horribly obese, look like gollum or live in the street you can still hook up with girls you know. Money and 6 packs help, but just be confident and if it doesn't work out just move on. Chances are if you can't get her know, 6 months of gym later it won't happen neither.

PS Happy Birthday sJarl!
Bro, this is the EZ thing to do. I like your attitude of gaining more motivation to lift heavy shit instead of slumping into your futon with a bag of Doritos jacking to pictures of her on facebook.
Let no one put you down, work hard in the gym and make sure you attain your goals of slimming down and gaining strength. When that day comes and she drools over your hot body, you tell her she doesn't look good enough for you. Then, give her a chance and let her hang out with you. She watches you workout in the gym as you cleanly rip your shorts in half from your 3plates+ squats and the bar is bending like mad over your yeti shoulders and grizzly back. Proceed to take her home and wash your hands with her wet panties, then take what is rightfully a man's. Like a boss.
Or grow manly facial features like sJarl, that's the shortcut to a womens desires! HB sJarl!
Yesterday my girlfriend wanted to do my routine in the gym with me. At first I'm like what an awesome girlfriend I have... never again.
After 5 sets of decline benchpress she wanted to do some core work, so we did some kicking punching (thing you see on those home video DVDs), and after that like 20 minutes of ab work. Then we ran for 30 minutes... (Atleast she was impressed with my 9.0mph run for 30 minutes -.-)... Totally missed my gym day, and instead I got sweaty and got laughed at for hardly being able to touch my palms on the ground while standing.

Where do you get them for that price?
The only place you could get them cheaper is at Craigslist, and it'll be very rare.

actually got to see misha this weekend as part of the log press/jerk competition (420 lb log i believe). He tried to jerk it like 6 times in 2 minutes but didn't get it Will write more about the arnold, meeting the hulk (dimsum), and how shitty women are at lifting later (not to be sexist, i was just surprised at how bad your form can be while you qualify for the olympics).
today is my first day of uni (4th year) so i'm fucking sad. Life no longer is about lifting. Worse, I went to sleep at 1 am and woke up at 4 and can't sleep anymore -.-. Class is at 8 t.t.

Nights of restlessness is a sign of not fapping enough coupled with a warm shower, get to it.
How do you think cavemen survived...
@decaf - I thought the part about women being worst at lifting weights was well-known already. After all, they've always been better in the diet apartment seeing as how they spend most of their time in the kitchen.
Happy birthday Sjarl!! I'll drink a liter of whole milk on you .
Deload/rest week is finally over and I got to lift again today. I worked on my deadlift technique and the repout went really good at 135kgx8 (3+) for a new PR.
