What I've been doing now is pulling it as high as I can and a little bit towards me, and then racking it, going as low as I have to go. It's more of a 'pull into rack position' than it is 'pull and get into the rack position'.
Yes you have to pull yourself under. You will get the hang of it!
Did 3 reps w 90kg CJ and 3 singles with 100kg. Missed two attempts on the 100kg lift. Need to get a vid of my form since the technique is prolly horrible.
Still pretty happy that I got it since it is ages i last tried CJ
I think I just found the 2012 London super heavyweight gold medalist, haha. Of course London is still a ways away and there is time yet to go. All I know is I'm cheering for Klokov, Xiaojun, and Hui in their classes.
liao hui is untouchable! He might turn out to be the greatest 69kg ever. I for one cant wait for liu chunhong, since she is going for her 3rd gold medal.
after oly lifting for a week i dont think i can ever go back to just regular lifting t.t. its so fun and addicting. im constantly thinking of cjing and improving my snatch technique on my off days. feeling exhausted and that you had a good workout is always a good feeling.

Although, I'm really scared of pulling myself under the bar, in fear of falling backwards, doesn't seem to be fun =/
same here hehe (and it happened to me a few times in the beginning ). it will pass though and you will eventually get the hang of it. dropping the bar safely behind or in front of you actually is much easier than I would have expected. it comes naturally at heavier weights.

the bar itself is pretty easy for me since I began prepping for snatches a while ago with OHS, and the PCs definitely help with the pull
I'm slowly adding weight 2.5 kg at a time, but I think it'll still take a crap load of practise (no duh) for me to know exactly where to bring the bar... if that makes sense at all.
