I really liked my last 60kg lift. It was the one I felt that went smoothest.
Any tips on what to fix and what was good?

Haha a bit different then atlas stone lifts eh? :-p -hips lower, lower back flatter. -you did a pretty good job of getting your hips into it -don't pop your feet out so wide. They should only go wide enough for you to get into a comfortable squatting position. Get lower in a squat position when you catch it(this is the hard part) instead of putting your feet way out wide. Might want to start working on overhead squat too to get comfortable catching below parallel -practice practice practice practice Looks kinda like how i used to snatch when i started ![]()

We talked for a while and I saw him lift for the first time. My god, what a lifter. 160kg front squat at a body weight of 65kg. He didn't snatch all that much weight, but his snatch form looked like one of those Chinese lifters. Absolutely beautiful. Apparently my double knee bend is shit because I'm not extending my hips and rather pulling the bar up. It's an old habit that I'm having a lot of trouble fixing ![]() Sucks man.

I'm not quite sure how to approach them. I mean, I understand the general idea of elbows high, etc., but I find myself extending my butt out like a back squat, which I hear (from some video I watched a while ago) I shouldn't do.

I guess I just have no idea what I'm doing on the 2nd pull other than trying to get the bar moving as fast as possible and jerking it off of my thigh with my traps. I know this is a really shitty description of my lift and there is basically nothing anyone can critique specifically, I'm kind of hoping this is a common problem and there is a generic answer to helping people who suck at cleans like myself. That said I fucking love them when they feel right at lower weights.

I'm just wondering what you're opinion is on Gregg Everett's book (i'm assuming you were talking about 'Olympic Weightlifting: A complete guide for Athletes and Coaches'). It's gotten pretty good reviews from what I've seen so I'm thinking about ordering it once I've got the cash.

Then did some power cleans. I felt like I was pulling way too early and also letting the bar get too far out in front of me. Plenty to work on but should be fun. I'll try and get a video when I can.

+ Show Spoiler + Klokov went 6/6, but lost out on body weight to his teammate Khadzhimurat. His last clean and jerk at 232 was so easy though... I felt that he should have gone for like 235 to seal the deal, because Khadzhimurat's 232 was pretty difficult.

Of course, his teammate had a hell of a day. Also, I misunderstood at first because the commentator made it seem as if it was a bodyweight issue. It was a totals issue really. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to London now. I know Aramnau failed a piss test so he couldn't compete this time, but he should be in the 2012 Olympics. Klokov, Khadzhimurat, and Aramnau should make a hell of a 2012 Olympics. Edit: Also, Salimi is unstoppable right now. 214 snatch god damn!!!! I know he did 217 before, but now it's official. I'm sure he'll break this record a couple of times before retiring.

Bumped up to 110kg for a new pr, missed it 3 times before managed to somehow get it up. When I tried to jerk it I felt like my shoulders were being crushed/grinding into something and immediately dropped the bar. Shoulders felt relatively fine after. Has anyone experienced the same and is it something I should worry about?
