MB i just simply fail to see where your blind optimism comes from.
There's simply no way that a development studio makes content for 2 and a half games in the same time they normally spend on 1 game, and don't sacrifice something for it. Either they're flat-out lying when they said that each "path" will be a complete game on its own, or the quality of the product as a whole is going to suffer.
Obviously it's too early to call the game doomed outright, but there's very little evidence suggesting the game will be any good, and a lot more evidence suggesting the contrary.

Surprised you guys can still get hyped at reveals. Gaming industry has burnt me too many times to care until I have my hands on a finished product.

It's easier when you become jaded enough to just outright mock and poke fun at the entire thing. I don't so much get hyped so much as I watch to laugh at the absurdity.

What games specifically have burned you? I can't think of anything that I've been super burned on. Disappointed by a few things for sure, but often I hear about them being disappointing beforehand and don't end up buying the game.
Edit: I was joking about this thread being a cynical bunch but my god reading all your impressions of E3 has been depressing.

Just over recent years basically anything made by Blizzard. So Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2. Then there was Watch Dogs,Kingdoms of Amalur and Assassins Creed are ones that spring to mind. A lot of games I didn't land up buying but I still consider that to be "burnt" after all the hype.
My rule of thumb these days is that anything a dev/publisher says is horseshit until I have my hands on the game and see it for myself. People just lie through their teeth to sell products and yet the consumers still trust them.

My biggest disappointments in the past couple of years were D3 and Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
D3's connectivity issues at launch didn't bother me, but the horrible, unavoidable story and the AH destroyed the game for me. There just wasn't any point at which actually playing the game was more efficient than spending gold or money on the AH. I hear Adventure Mode helps, but I'm not buying the expansion for $40.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star was a disappointment because it was barely an RPG. Imagine an RPG where you have no levels or stats, just inventory. Now imagine you have very limited inventory space. Fighting on your way to the boss was actually bad, because it meant you had less inventory with which to fight the boss. Like Super Paper Mario the story had all the charm of its predecessors, but it wasn't enough to make up for fundamentally uninspiring (if not terrible) gameplay.
Edit: I actually liked SC2: WoL, but then I primarily played the story so I didn't really care or notice that competitively it had serious issues (e.g. Deathball).

I blame Peter Molyneux. He's the figure I remember most who started this whole "we can do all of these things and it'll be amazing" hype train stuff. Regardless of what he promised and failed to deliver people still believed in him for so very long, now all the rest of the big boys do it almost every game.

none of you were that bad to be honest. the issue is that you were all new, and were not being coached like other TL mafia newbies.

Also D1 was just a general shit show lol. But I really did enjoy that game.

Meh, maybe I give them too much leeway, but I wasn't disappointed in D3 (though I didn't play D2) or SC2. No, SC2 was no BW, in either story or multiplayer. But I have both limited editions for SC2 and I don't regret a dime I spent. I had my fun and I love the universe.

I actually kind of enjoyed Super Paper Mario; it was a bit bland but I guess I let the Paper Mario charm carry me through it's relatively brief run. Personally I haven't been burnt out on games because I basically don't play many games anymore; only recently have I started to expand back out of purely LoL. I guess if I had to be disappointed in something I'm a bit disappointed in how WoD turned out in the end; the story, leveling experiences and raiding was great but I'm not really the kind of person to seriously commit to raiding so there wasn't really anything for me compared to the previous expansion. I think it was mainly how much of a piece of shit Ashran was; I could fill the void when I got tired of heroic runs with something like Wintergrasp but instead we got this worthless piece of trash battleground where everyone just ignored the PvP to maximize points.
The last game I was genuinely disappointed in was brink; brink burnt me so hard I was basically put off of getting hyped for a long time but yeah that's a while ago so I guess I might as well get hype again.

I skipped most of Mists of Pandaria, and when I started I felt like there was basically nothing to do at max level. Timeless Isle was so boring for me, it was literally Epics for the simplest "dailies" ever. I walked on to the Isle as soon as I dinged and walked out with like 3-5 purples. Sure, I know about iLevel and that welfare epics aren't really epics, but it felt so cheap and boring. WoD would be more fun if the Garrison wasn't a freaking bore. I like the Stable quests, I like the idea of some of the other buildings, but I voice the same opinion as most people: it's so insular and there's no sense of community. I sit along in my Garrison and flip through menus until I log off or go do a dungeon or something. Bleh. But, the overworld is great. Treasures to find, little bits of story to pick up, etc. They should have spent more time adding to that than Follower missions.

Only game I'm looking forward to hyping beyond reasonable proportions is Half Life 3.

It was not a wholly productive venture, and understandably so: it's very difficult for players in the game to coach each other, because reasons. Better for a third party to do it (which could've circumvented that whole spat and probably made the experience more enjoyable for Req and others).

I liked WoD, leveling was the most fun it has ever been. PvP (except for ashran) was great even except for that we where playing RLS and none have time play together since 2/3 where not in school anymore. I played it for 2 months and was not really disappointed. Hard mode dungeons where a great thing for some fun.
I can't say I have been particularly disappointed in a game I bought except maybe killzone 2 because of console FPS. Hated AssCreed when I played the first one so I never got disappointed in sequels. D3 was fun for like 80 hours when it was released then fun for another 40 when they fixed it which is pretty damn good for a game. I still hate fallout 3 and later because they suck but meh.

D3 AH and online experience weren't the worst parts for me. The difference between the first 2 acts and the last acts were just so huge that it was obvious they rushed through it. Having 10 years to make a game and still putting together content last minute is as fucking travesty. Don't even get me started on the god awful storytelling in the last 2 acts. It's an ARPG so storytelling isn't something that should be even on the radar but when you do it that badly it detracts from my experience.

AH itself wasn't fundamentally the problem, it's that the entire game experience had to be balanced with the AH in mind, resulting in inevitably un-fun AH-focused endgame play patterns, revolving around flipping items and exploiting farmable easy drops in the latter half of Inferno.
The AH was massively out-of-balance by the time Blizzard fixed all the exploits and balanced Wizard and DH.
