Soniv, can you tell me what's special about those shorts? I'm interested. But not in your pair specifically.
Duolingo doesn't offer Cantonese but just noticed Irish is a course... is that like Gaellic or somethting? Teut?

Maybe try looking for a pen pal setup site? That would at least get you communicating with a native speaker.

I don't really know what wholesome means, like no violence/sex? Malazan Book of the Fallen if you into fantasy but there's violence and mostly implied sex. No actual fully descriptive sex scene in my memory.

The joke is that cantonese is just mandarin with a sock in your mouth, but honestly the two languages are so different tonally that for someone who didn't grow up making those shapes with their mouth it's not really going to make one or the other easier which ones you learn and in what order.
The biggest piece of empirical evidence for speeding up language learning is to hear it in natural conversation. So Requizen, I hope you like chinese soap operas because there are shitloads of those in cantonese you can start watching for immersion.

Well there are probably more English language resources for learning Mandarin so it would probably be easier, but yeah if you want to learn Cantonese, learn Cantonese--don't learn Mandarin as a "gateway" to learning Cantonese.

They're incredibly light - basically a loose DryFit material. I originally tried them back in high school when I bought a pair at a tournament, and got a couple more pairs since then cuz they're amazing.
However, they aren't great for something like gymnastics because of how loose they are - easy to snag a finger when doing pommels or some shit.

Ok ye then don't read what I just suggested. It's a long fantasy epic that largely follows military group. Honestly have nothing you'd enjoy unless you want to read trashy Light Novels. Spice and Wolf I ended and is prob the least trashy LN I've read. If you into people talking to each other while flirting and doing medieval pseudo-economics then that'll be nice.

€: RE: books, pratchett is really good for traveling imo, well suited to just pick it up, read a bit, do vacation stuff, read again, repeat. but that might just be me, i prefer to read serious and/or plot-driven books basically in one go, and prefer lighter things for vacation, where you can get distracted without losing too much.
