Now 20h in and 15% completion. Nowhere near bored. Still so much stuff to do. Plus there are all these little things that improve the entire experience. Events you can happen upon whilst riding around, the potions replenishing after meditation, decisions I make actually affecting the experience and story. This might be my GOTY already.

As more of a high fantasy fan that also really enjoyed the codex alera books start to finish im pretty impressed with jim butchers diversity of style with this fun light hearted bad ass modern wizardry. His next series is completely different too. Steampunk with moderate magic and sci fi elements. Hype levels: yes. On June 10 2015 05:30 Doctorbeat wrote: Sooo Witcher 3 is still blowing my mind. @Mordek I really like the Dark Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan. I thought it was a cool take on magic and they are light and fun. Some of my favorite books of all time (the first one is a biiiit slow but push through). They are fairly simple and easy to digest. Definitely a guilty pleasure. @Req Rosetta Stone or Pimsleur come to mind as far as audio type programs and both have cantonese programs. I believe they are a bit pricey, but this is for the Otter so the money is worth it! Alternatively you could be sneaky sneaky and find a tutor. I am sure you can find one in your area pretty easily. But then you run the risk of her finding out. Or thinking that you are cheating on her sneaking around a la every romantic comedy ever. @Req^2 I have heard people not enjoy Witcher 1 and 2 because of the combat systems and some overcomplications? Someone was complaining about it in OT not too long ago. I started Witcher 1 and have enjoyed it thus far but I only made it 10 or so hours into it before I got internet and became consumed by the Legendary League.

Going and reading the character pages helps a lot. I'm using a controller and it's great. Don't really think mouse and keyboard lends itself to 3rd person action games. I think my biggest complain is the combat is just okay. Sometimes it feels really cheap and coming from Bloodborne it doesn't feel nearly as nuanced.

Great game, great story though. I'm playing it with keyboard + mouse, I've never had much trouble with playing 3rd person action games that way and it feels pretty good to me.

I got witcher 2 when they gave it away on gog last year and I just didn't care for it. Wasn't bad just didn't really draw me in. Well except for the elf hating, I can get behind disliking elves.

I went for the full quick attack tree, so now I've got crit chance and crit damage that still doesn't damage anything and a helicopter attack that's near uncontrollable. At least I've got the Quen shield as well. Yay!

The only thing I sometimes have trouble with is the horse. It sometimes is annoying and stops at random moments. But this Witcher is far more open world than the others were. Those were more hub to hub movements. Here you have huuuuge maps. Like I have spent more than an hour in Novigrad and still haven't seen the entire city. The world definitely feels more alive than other games too (Skyrim for example). The changing weather, day/night cycle and how that affects everything, so good. + Show Spoiler + And Ciri's so fun to play as. Even though Witcher has quite a lot of nudity in it, I do think it's female characters are pretty neat. Better than most games with fantasy settings.
