Christmas shopping for my father is the pretty much the definition of insanity.
Dude has everything, and just Insta buys anything he wants. Every year I end up buying atleast 2 things i have to return because he bought it himself.
This year, I figured I'd knock it out of the park. I spent months with him figuring out all his obscure favorite alt rock bands from the late 70s and early 80s. Bought him a bunch of records.... legit an hour ago he shows me all the records I bought for him that he just ordered.
I just... come on. Part of me wants to just staple all the return receipts together in a card with a gift card / cash.

-_-
For people that have things, experiences are good routes. Tons of records? Maybe there's a coverband in town or something.

I like how in Dutch we can make compound words, which is a general rule and just accepted. You can perfectly combine jacket and basket into jacketbasket or basketjacket for example and it would make perfect sense. I don't know if that's the same in English per se, is it?
No, definitely not. We have compound words but they're rather rare. So jacketbasket doesn't really make sense and sounds rather strange without some kind of additional context.

I think it's a good movie with a lot of flaws. Not egregiously bad like lots of people online are saying, but definitely flawed. I agree with a lot of what's been said already, but I'll just jot down my thoughts.
I liked Rey's story. I sorta agree with Ghandi that she doesn't have impact and is just kinda passive, but I thought it was interesting and at least is much better than Anakin's arc in the prequels. Her interactions with Luke and Kylo were by far the most compelling parts of the movie to me.
Finn and Rose are pointless. This movie had it's own filler arc. If Finn had just remained unconscious the whole movie it would not have changed anything. And why were we supposed to care about Rose? And why did she lecture about not sacrificing when her sister literally sacrificed herself to save the Rebellion? What is the point of her character other than to create a love interest (and potentially love triangle)?
I enjoyed Poe's arc. A bit of military drama. I like how he's clearly got a fire in him for the Rebellion and you can see how that causes conflict even among his allies. You could easily have made an entire movie about him and I'd have watched it.
HOWEVER. The biggest fucking nitpick I have in the movie. Remember the opening scene with the cool assault onto the Dreadnought?
WHAT IN THE FUCK WAS UP WITH THE BOMBERS?
WHY WERE THEY 17 TIMES SLOWER THAN EVERY OTHER SHIP? WE'VE ALREADY SEEN BOMBERS IN THE FILMS THAT WERE AS FAST AS FIGHTERS
WHY ARE THEIR BOMBS GRAVITY FED? YOU'RE IN RUTTING SPACE!
WHO DESIGNED THE BOMBS TO BE ON A RELEASE ON A REMOTE AND NOT, YOU KNOW, ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE SHIP?
WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THE Y-WINGS?
I was seriously taken out of the film after the first 5 minutes because of that.
Edit:
It was pretty cool to see Vibroblades on the screen though, after having been just part of the EU for so long.

I was hoping to see some nice B-wing action, especially with how they cut to the bombers, but that's pretty much never gonna happen cause "herp derp, they're hard to pilot." So all I'll ever get to see in video of it is the episode of Rebels where Hera flies one.

Mentioned it on Skype, but yea, I did, and enjoyed it. Movie tried to do a lot of things, and I did get a lot of Suicide Squad vibes (no surprise there), but its basically Shadowrun mixed with Bad Boys, two things I love.
After watching, I wished it was a series rather than a movie, and it got me into such a fantasy mood, I went and downloaded all of the Hobbit series, and will probably start those soon.
