I disagree with the Hyperbole and a Half post-- not all depression is going to be a thick fog of apathy or whatever. It varies from person to person, so I guess its like playing Halo with a few skulls enabled-- everyone has different ones, but the end result is that you do the same things, but they're harder for one reason or another. The difference between real life and Halo is that its 1. not fun and 2. there are no checkpoints/respawns.
There are some things that you can overcome by manning up, like beating your PR at the gym or asking a girl out. That works because the obstacle is a lump of metal or your nervousness. Depression is not one one, because the obstacle you are trying to get past is yourself. Its not some peripheral or situational characteristic like your muscles or your nervousness, but trying to deny something that is an integral part of who you are.
I actually went to see a therapist at the beginning of the semester. My best friend passed away from cancer in March, and I tried to tough it out through the remainder of that semester and the summer. It didn't work. I went through cycles of ups and downs which was like riding a runaway horse-- you call tug and pull, but you're never quite sure what degree of control you have over it, or when you might get thrown and crash.
I went to one session of therapy where I kind of blurted everything out. It was... weird, like peeling a scab off a wound but not particularly painful. That one session getting everything out helped a lot I think, and I've had a pretty good semester so far. I have some free time, so I'll probably drop by and chat this week to try and relieve some pressure. I do sometimes wonder how long or how high I can fly before I crash again, but I choose not to worry about it. I miss her, a lot. Every day even. But sometimes I can see life without her.
EDIT: Top of the page, whatupppp. We should keep an official tally of these.

The paladin deck's upgrade has given it a 75% win rate across all match ups in masters 3 and in group testing. Neo is too Asian and says that's not good. For card games that's an A+. Agree/Disagree?
Edit: Sample Size is 100 games over 3 days.

I agree that neo is too asian.

I wish I had 75% winrate magic deck.
o.o
On a seperate note, my Battle.net account got hacked during the summer when I wasn't playing any blizzard games, and I noticed as I was signing up for the Heroes of the Storm beta that my D3 acount was banned...
Wut do? I mean it isn't a super big deal because I hated D3, and I dont plan on playing it.. but I have never been banned at anything before. Feels kind of crappy to be not able to play something I spent money on.

75% win rates base line against the wider field is pretty amazing. The only decks with better results that that is probably... I dunno, Cawblade, Affinity, ComboWinter and Faeries in MtG maybe? And all of those decks were format defining.
Of course it does depend a bit on the sample size and player skill to an extent, but that's still nothing to sniff at.

I hated Cawblade. Didn't have the $700 to run one. Ruined magic for me.

Cawblade is where I really learned magic to its fullest. If you understood that mirror, you understood the meaning of life.

These are the best cards in Cawblade.

I hated Affinity so much. Your choices were Affinity or Tooth and Nail, but only because it was the only non-affinity deck that worked. I remember I made a faerie deck right when Llorwyn came out. Was so much fun, at the time it was my only non-aggro deck ever. I can only imagine how busted a Bitterblossom version would have felt since the deck got stolen with my van.

Like i said, I didn't have the cash.
Only way I could go to an FNM and have a chance of beating anyone who was remotely good was if I ran something cheesy like anti-caw mono-red or something.
Not that I a good magic player anyway.

Where literally every deck could be improved by adding Skullclamp and weenies to get killed by Skullclamp.

You know a deck is degenerate when you start tailoring the deck to beat itself because it's so fundamentally good against everything else (!)

To be fair, the deck was only degenerate because blue cards exist. After top 8'ing a few PTQs with the deck I switched to GW Quest for the Holy Vine. Best Deck I've ever played ever.

Edit: Sample Size is 100 games over 3 days. Depends, could just be you're already 75% winrate without change. Have to do before/after tests with similar sample size. For all we know, you could just be outplaying them.

I just wanted to take the time to say you are extremely right.
I hope Req finds the help he needs IRL. It's the face-to-face relationships that really count the most, a lesson I have to remind myself of constantly.

Alara/Zendikar Standard was the best; bitterblossom and faeries just rotated out and there was nothing good for stoneforge to tutor yet.

Been rooting for Ty (and stoneblade) since the top 8

This is where I like hand disruption over counterspells. The ANT deck just waits and builds a counter resilient hand.
