New inhouse logistics TBD. In the meantime, feel free to hang out in the league general discord https://discord.gg/0lCEKA3jUEFxERzd ("add lol" in #welcome) and get some ad-hoc games going!

Just asking cause I know other games on this forum have like mini leagues where they draft players and shit to play a mini tournament. It takes a bit more commitment, but it's also more fun to be a part of.

I think you guys were doing fine in balancing the teams for the most part.
You're always going to get some random aspect because your not going to have the same people every time.
Assuming that you guys are still balancing teams the way you were when I was active in these, I think it's fine.

It's ok, I like the format so far, it's still just awkward when 11-19 people want to play because there's a whole lot of people sitting who'd rather be playing.

It was a lot more fun for me at least when there were a lot of platinum+ people there, they seemed like more fun games than 1-2 platinum and the rest silver/bronze/gold. I like these for learning experiences, and I definitely learned more when there were higher level people playing.
Hey! How you doin'?

A mini tournament sounds like a lot of fun. Plus I think a little competitive aspect would improve the quality of the games and coaching. Everyone wants to win, a good player with a personal investment in a team would be motivated to really try to help the shitters on his team.

What about format wise? Do you like random pick up games with potentially random people or would you like to see more stabilized teams?

This could be very interesting, although logistically difficult to pull off, as people mentioned.

I, for one, know my skill level improved immensely S2 when I started playing with TL B. Having a coordinated team, and the same people to play with really amps up your game. You get to learn personalities, when you can rely on your teammate to do things. It offers a really good internal environment to breed skill, on top of the larger community of the NA IH group to build on.

If it could be pulled off, I really think we'd see a marked skill improvement in general.

ultimately, teams are just a very difficult commitment to actually make, especially when people are spanning multiple time zones, so I get why it hasn't happened

Because everyone's too lazy to organize shit and the time commitment es very hard to make.

Nonetheless, I think it'd be worth a try to see whether or not it works. Can't come to conclusions without actually trying.

So, difficulties aside, how would it work?

Could do some sort of "Newbie" teams, with a higher level coach. Have these teams compete, critique gameplay, etc?

Also, would there be subs for teams? If so, how many?

Obviously, this would only work if there was actually enough interest. Also, I'm sure higher level guys would still want to play as well.

Idk how the organization could go, but I'll start brainstorming.

you need a team of 5 playing against other teams of 5 on a regular basis thats all that really needs to happen :<

you dont even need higher level critique commentary or w\e just have the teams be all on ts or something and actually talk about the game

obv you'd need to find teams of similar skill level

Well, right cheep, that's the ultra-simplified version.

But how do the teams get set up? It can't be like 5 people pick to play with each other, that's when things get stacked. There should be some sort of organizer creating and monitoring things I would think (assuming people want to actually get something out of these team games).

Things would have to be set up in a way so that teams are of similar skill level from the beginning. Then, improvement could actually be monitored.

is it? idk i feel like thats the most straightforward way to go

just take the people you play 5 stack with and call it a team and go find other 5 stacks and be like "yo lets scrim"

ill bring my irl baddie friends whom i play ranked 5s with

we will be the terror of TL IH scrims huehue

serious teams and serious competition is what breeds the most improvement

your plan alienates a lot of people - there will be far less motivation for the lowbies to play if all the high level guys make 2 teams and only play with each other

if the intent is to help our community grow skill-wise, then it needs to actually be run that way

I would definitely prefer having teams over pick up teams (not that they were bad, it was still really fun), it would cause greater improvement imo as long as a team isn't stuck with 4 or 5 overly emotional people regardless of skill level to keep things in perspective.

Well it depends how you want to go about it but im sure that either stacking teams or spreading the players out will be good but it'll be easier to spread them. Stacking will work as long as someone will help coach the lower teams (and obviously not play heavily mismatched, like a high silver/low gold vs high plat/diamond etc.)

If people want to "stack" teams it will require more work overall since the lower teams should have some sort of coaching.

you dont help people who don't want to help themselves -_-

read the OP of this thread, it didnt turn out this way, but the original intent of this in house set up is for lowbies to get shitstomped by diamonds and improve that way, wee're not here to coddle and hold hands >_>

also im sure there are more than enough people who actually have a healthy spectrum of skill levels to play against each other

Problem with creating teams like that solely based on IH players is how do you balance? Do you try to create a bunch of teams all around the same skill level? Do you have the teams be purposefully imbalanced? Time commitment ends up being a huge problem too because then essentially if you've tried to balance the teams not only do you need to find that balance but you have to make sure each team can be on at the same time.

it's a logistical nightmare, honestly.
