Maru played greedy and got punished, end of story. I damn sure hope hes not losing like this again in EWC. But both Gumiho and Rogue, who need to qualify for EWC, advance in quite convincing fashion.

Funny how bombing out of GSL 0:4 made Maru more money than Zouns third place finisher at Stara Zagora. No wonder he did not want the hassle of traveling and a potential loss before finals.

It seriously might have been designed in part to tilt Solar, who has been vocal about how frustrating it is to play against the bugged version of the cyclone.

It is actually insane that the cyclone bug is simply left in the game for weeks on end during the most important tournament period of the whole year. It's a plain bug making a terran unit stronger than it is supposed to be for no reason whatsoever, and it has been an actual deciding factor in tournament matches.

At least Maru failed with it against Solar.

Difference between motivated and hungry Maru from Dallas and yesterdays matches was obvious. He already got what he wanted pre-EWC plus an offline out-of-Korea win as a sweet bonus, the whole situation was arleady figured out and summed up nicely be others. I think it only bothered big fans of Maru like myself since I was of course hoping for more of his gameplay in the finals. I would compare this to Serrals situation who is stil a killer and a demi-god of SC2 but also not as hungry as he was and already won more than enough both prestige and money wise so we can see him not winning everything as he used to, Reynor after winning the wolrd champ "suffered" the same fate I suppose. On the other hand Clem is still pushing hard as well as Hero, Gumigod and few others. I'm afraid this years EWC will be the last we witness a truly try hard competitive tournament, because of money involved obviously, and all the smaller tourneys like HSC will just be a waiting room for EWC 2026 in terms of motivation.
