I think his ZvZ will only be a factor if he faces Solar in the playoffs He has basically an even record against Serral (24-26). In good ZvZ form he can definitely beat him Huh, I didn't realise Dark actually wins their h2h in online matches. Although Serral hasn't lost to Dark offline in 7 years, and that was before he was even a full-time player. As much as I love Dark I think he's cooked if he matches Serral. Dark struggles against Reynor, and Serral has either 3-0 or 4-0'd Reynor almost every time they've met for the last year. The skill difference between them isn't even close. And Reynor has beaten Serral plenty of times, it ebbs and flows. The skill difference between those top z's isnt massive, a small difference is enough to make difference. Not recently he hasn't. Serral is 20-4 against Reynor in the last year. And since last Katowice Serral is 36–4 (90%) in ZvZ matches . Granted he hasn't played Dark that many times, but I do think he is levels above the other zergs right now.

As per usual, even with a huge disadvantage Serral basically plays it out close to perfect, or as perfect as you can from such a deficit. And it’s rare he even makes an error to give such a huge lead away. Why he’s so bloody hard to beat, although Skillous really should have put him away. Oof Byun if you play remotely as sloppy as that second set against Kelazhur, against one of the eliteTerrans, there’s just no way man.

Thats probably why Maru has tried to slow it down by playing the more Tech heavy style of Viking-Libs-Ravens whenever he can.

ByuN played that pretty well, his style is particularly hectic but he was overall in control. He can beat any elite terran but it'll probably look close either way

Granted he hasn't played Dark that many times, but I do think he is levels above the other zergs right now. Serral’s numbers all-round this past year are just, ridiculous. You almost just assume Serral’s doing his thing as per usual and almost underestimate quite how ridiculous some of his stats actually are when you check them. That’s his ’weak matchup too. It’s looking as strong as any time as when he was the king of ZvZ when he would win roach wars or the lurker/viper stage most times. It’s no guarantee of winning this tournament, but I feel there’s this perception that Serral and Reynor are kind of neck and neck when Serral’s a touch above when you dive into it, least at this juncture. Or the other Zergs. Reynor and Dark can still beat any Toss but their ZvP isn’t bulletproof as Serral’s has been for years now.

With fairer groups, better qualifiers and the forms Clem/Reynor showed up in it seems like this could have ended with 11 Koreans and Serral. So was harstem right 👀

Erm... given the way the EU and NA qualifiers were completely open and allowed a ton of Koreans to stream thru the NA region, it was pretty much an open bracket that I don't think was biased against them at all. =/ Looking at the brackets, the only "upset" I can potentially see would be if Clem doesn't make it through tomorrow. Reynor's performance is disappointing, but its Group D. On the flip side, Scarlett, Oliveira or ShowTime could all make big moves tomorrow.

It’s not surprising, Serral and Reynor usually hang out well and Clem does online (he was expected to show up after his Atlanta win, he can still qualify). Since MaxPax doesn’t play offline, it’s then HeroMarine, maybe ShoWTimE or Oliveira. The next tier of players rarely qualify unless they get extremely lucky

EU server only getting 1 less slot than Korea/CN combined is blatant favoring of EU in the qualifiers. They weren't actual global qualifiers because KR was forced to play on EU. There is literally no chance EU end up with this many slots with a true global qualifier system.
