Not looking good for The Italian Stallion... Eadit: Cyan has to beat Showtime 2-0 too.

At the same time, the protoss bag hasn't looked deep enough to actually win tournaments in a few years now. Maybe playing defensive is actually the best way to win? Can you expect protoss players to really enter tournaments with 25 surprise builds? I think there's a middle ground between playing ultra conservative like Showtime and playing hyper aggressive like herO. Probably how Trap played seems to be the best approach

But he has a lot trouble to be consistently in shape since gamer8.

Funny how that happens in Round Robins.

Still unwise for P to drag it out into the late game against the likes of Serral or Dark, but chilling until the later mid-game is viable. Yeah, the tricky part is stopping the Zerg exploding, but if you get there it looks pretty playable. I mean Zerg can just kill you, but not really with poking, they have to commit pretty hard. I’d say the tricky part for Toss these days if they’re trying to play defensively is in PvT there are so many ways to just die, or take crippling damage from Terran’s various tools. And Terran don’t have to deviate from their late-game plan and comps to do it, they can just exploit a small positional mistake and capitalise. The critical phase of macro PvT, when you’re getting that 3rd up, and thinking about getting a 4th and really supercharging your macro, is just damn hard to negotiate. When batteries were just that little bit stronger Toss way more reliably survived that phase in good shape, often ahead and they could get into the ‘super’ late game where they could leverage that to make things really tough for Terrans, if they could grab a couple of extra bases, be building a very technical army and have a load of extra cash to have Zealots and DTs harassing all over the place.
