Yeah, Serral's present level of play is ridiculous even by his own standards. Systematic and meticulous, and sometimes virtually flawless. You could see the frustration in Cure's face. None of the other current top-tier zergs, neither Dark nor Reynor, can make Cure look like he's running against a wall.
Yeah, it looked so effortless to Serral, that it seemed that he was "cheating" somehow. Even at the end when he won, he just smiled and was so relaxed. Prolly didnt have to bring even near 100% today. And that is really scary. He makes many other pros look like a ladder scrubs in comparison.

Guy just doesn’t really have any weaknesses seemingly, a pretty scary prospect right now indeed. His ZvT looks off the charts and isn’t even his most dominant matchup
GGWP and a pretty fun wee tournament, stream issues aside!
Really interested to see if Cure brings this level when Code S resumes

Serrals stats on Aligulac since Katowice:
Under these filters, Serral is 160–27 (85.56%) in games and 69–3 (95.83%) in matches.

Yeah it's a pretty sick stretch for Serral, prolly the most dominant he's looked since like... Mid/late 2021?

Crowning this run with a win at gamers8 would make it even more ridicoulus

Goat Serral destroying the field as usual
There’s a reason why Serral doesn’t need to waste his time with b tier GSL

You know, you can be a fan of Serrals and still be respectful right? It is possible. Ive seen it

Very interesting considering how much everyone has been hyping Cure right now after his GSL performance. GG to Serral. Beating all 3 races in the quarter-semi-final always feels good.

Well he delivered beating Classic and Dark, I did not expect him to beat Serral, even less so cross server Congrats Serral, on top of the world atm

Outside of Mary playing his absolute best I mean who’s taking Serral out TvZ when he’s playing like he did in the finals?
Cure’s looking really good lately for sure and he’s got a lot of different stuff in his locker too, compared to say Byun who can give stellar TvZ clinics but if his relentless aggression fails he can run out of steam

ggs. Serral looked unbreakable there

I don't think there is any terran who can take him out in a bo7 finals (not even Maru). your only chance is to kill him in the earlier rounds. I'd still throw a cheeky bet on GuMiho like aye. he has upset Serral numerous times before in bo3s. sometimes he goes super saiyan with the drops and parade pushes. same with Cure and and ByuN. playing at their best, I think they can bring it to him in a bo3. vs terran, Serral seems to be at his weakest in the first 2 sets of a series, and then tightens up the longer the series goes on
you can expect all these top terrans to burn bright against zerg for 2 or 3 sets, then exhaustion sets in and it becomes impossible

Bo3s yeah they can pull it off but that drops off with Bo5s, 7s etc.
Much less daunting to prep one sneaky fast one, play out of your skin one other game and the beast is slain than pulling it off 4 times
Actually was Aligulacing and Gumigod does have a better record than many against Serral, perhaps he’s the man to do it

if nothing else, the Gumigod plays confidently against Serral and confidence goes a long way, whereas ByuN seems too intimidated to realistically pull it off. if Serral is the Undertaker, GuMiho is Mankind ready to break his neck for our entertainment: being choke-slammed through a steel cage, breaking all his teeth in the process, and still having the balls to reach for a bag full of steel tacks in game 2. feels like it's been a while since I saw any terrans try to test Serral with a super crazy hellbat all-in or double battlecruiser rush. he does tend to play greedy from time to time, so maybe that's what you need to get a leg up in a boX. anything to avoid back-to-back exhaust plays multiple games in a row and driving yourself mentally insane in the process

He's the greatest. And I think he's better then ever.

The playerpool of this tournament and Gamers8 is like 90% identical. Let's see if the results will be as well.

AFAIK the format hasn't been announced yet, I'm guessing it will be group stage into playoffs but who knows.Something like a single elim bracket the whole way or double elim could alter the results a lot.
It's hard to see Serral losing a non ZvZ, and even in ZvZ Serral looks half a step ahead of everyone else. SC2 is volatile though, and Dark or Reynor could easily knock Serral out.
I'm curious to see how well Cure does at Gamers8. I don't think he lived up to the hype at ESL Summer despite looking amazing in the leadup, though to be fair he was a victim of Gumigod's rampage.

Rare you see a proper single elim gauntlet these days, I wonder if they might go with something like that, or a straight double elim to differentiate the tournament?
There’s pluses and minuses to both. Groups into single or even double elim generally keep the top dogs from getting sniped and generally deliver the big big matchups in the latter stages. But ‘one mistake and you’re out’ does aid itself to upsets and make the early stages more exciting
A lot of things I’m curious about with it really, will it be considered IEM/Blizzcon levels of prestige or WESG (at least for the Western audience)?
