Trap overcoming the down-one-game penalty in the finals was glorious Congrats to him! And Reynor did extremely well too!

Clearly being down a game is not a disadvantage, since Trap managed to win

Always good to see Trap performing. Great set of games.

Yah this is a soO situation where both community and the player himself seem to feel that these "tier 2's" don't fully count

soO had only won a KeSPA cup for all his silvers though. Whereas Trap has won 6 titles in a little over 6 months plus MLG Anaheim all these years ago, which means he now has more golds than silvers.

Tbf, after jaga's throw, Reynor looked a bit off. Great perseverance by Trap though ! Both of them deserve a congratulation. I don't really care of what liquipedia says, considering the circumstances, I think it is fair to consider this tourney as a Premier one, the field and the prestige were here.

I had forgotten until just now that ESL did not use the Katowice money to increase the prize pools of the season finals. Was looking forward to some more big prize pool international events. So dumb.

"BuT iT's X aM" excuses were not even needed this time but they look ridicolous as always. you of all people shouldn't talk about making excuses about a player not performing Now this is something I haven't heard before, enlighten me. It would be better for you to avoid but it's not like you have any credibility anyway. WESG 2019: "Serral lost because he was sick"
And you remember me saying that? Check again.

First of all, expressing a doubt is different from being convinced of a certain, not proved, thing and whining accordingly.
The "late hour disadvantage" has been widely discussed in the last year and half; I want to remind you that korean players themselves, when asked, didn't openly complain about tournaments running late. If I remember correctly some pro also added that 4/5 AM aren't that big of a deal(maybe Inno?).
Adjusting the sleep schedule is a very possible thing unlike many here seem to think and even if korean players weren't already accustomed enough with playing at EU/NA timezones in the last decade, they could have had enough opportunities in recent times.
Thus said, some tournaments ended in the early morning in Korea which is indeed annoying and should be avoided(as it has been afterwards) but the results of the said tournaments don't seem to indicate this issue majorly affected the outcomes.

With those last two titles, Trap has already approached the vast group of the best Protoss of Sc2; however, the prestige of a Code S or of a World Championship is needed to truly be one of the greats and Trap himself is convinced of that(which, I'd say, it's even more important). If he keeps the current shape for another month the Code S title should not elude his grasp.

Awesome tournament,
Trap is now BY FAR the best protoss in SC2 history.
Zest looked great too though, in my eyes the best he has ever been.
But literally the way that Trap turned those games around... always finding a way and doing damage and sometimes yoloing it. Just great. Almost felt like the Maru of protoss

Every single other great streak was done by Zerg or Terran(2011 Mvp,2012 Life, 2014 Life, 2017 Rogue, 2018 Maru and Serral).

Fun observation: not only did Trap and Reynor go 6-6, they went 1-1 on every single map they played. Probably mostly a coincidence, but I also wonder what sorts of adjustments they tried to make between their series. Trap did say in the interview that he kinda went yolo on the last three games though.

That's two big comebacks against Serral and Reynor now for Trap. These 3 have some great ongoing rivalries and storylines.

Its crazy that Cure is the only korean terran that can take down serral and trap is the only protoss that can take down reynor

I wonder what Trap is doing so much better, because, heretic that I am, his PvZ doesn't look that much better than every other top player to my amateurish eye, but clearly he's doing something no one else is.
I'd love to have a pro breaking it up to me

Reynor has lost to Stats and Zest this year and Serral has only played eight series against Korean Terrans all year. So making sweeping statements about "only X can take down Y" isn't justified at all.
